So today makes it three weeks since my copy shipped from Planetaxel and it's still not here. At this point I'm gonna order another copy from somewhere else and sell this one when it gets here. What's the quickest way to import this to the uk from?
Go with VideoGamesPlus, who I have been using for imports for about 6 years and have never failed me. Fastest I've ever had anything is 5 days but they usually don't take much more than that. I should have just ordered from them instead, as I haven't had my copy from Planetaxel either. I'm not quite at RPGCrazied-in-the-Xenoblade-thread levels of frothing madness at import shipping times, but this is very irritating.
Chances are you hit all the weaknesses on an enemy or hit a stunned enemy with a 1CC A-Arte.
I hear ya, but more for skill use grinding. That said, use Dark Bottles and grind an area near a Turtlez vendor (or a city, I guess). There's one coming up in
Barona Castle
; there will be a Turtlez vendor in one room and then a hallway with ~3+ spawns you can respawn infinitely with a Dark Bottle.
"hit a stunned enemy with a 1CC A-Arte"
See? That's the kind of stuff that I need to memorize or always have on mind.
There are so many battle rules that's somewhat overwhelming and hard to memorize or apply them without constant reading. I wish I could print them.

To be fair, I'm not actually sure if that's the actual cause of it but I know it's not JUST hitting a stunned enemy. I suppose more appropriately it's "start a combo on a stunned enemy" since you can't go 4CC A-Arte -> 1CC A-Arte and get the CC refill. Basically, just restart your 1CC -> 2CC -> 3CC etc. combos when you see a stunned enemy :x
Honestly, I'm not sure where half of my CC gains even come from. I just know that I should reset combos on stunned enemies to get some CC back. I really think that's about it, though, besides the weakness thing and evasion.
Cheria is probably my most broken character on Chaos. Fight starts -> Indignation -> 70k everywhere -> 8s victory. Her ability to heal is pretty much secondary to how ridiculously strong some of her spells are (or just how much hit-stun some of them have that lead right into combo-until-dead bosses).
Malik's A-Artes were the bane of my use grind. Not because they're bad or anything but because he takes forever to do all the hits and is waaaaay vulnerable during it. Thankfully, they require barely any uses so it wasn't for too long but, man ... it was truly awful.
Ugh, yeah. I don't really like levelling up his A-Artes first because of that. I usually go with his B-Artes first, and then set everyone to Passive in the desert and grind his A-Artes there or around Barona.
End of Chapter 7, I think. About to
return to Ephinea / earf
. And, yeah, 5000 is quite a bit (except not really when using Book of Striking; seems to be 20/Arte and damn does that just eat through the pot), especially since I see a lot of people with 2000-ish and having beaten the game. I think I had close to 2000 around Chapter 4?
Yeah, that's a lot. When I first went through the game, I had 2800 or something when I beat the game for the first time? That's why grinding for the Arles Pot took me so long. A lot of people don't really dualize or use the pot because it isn't always necessary so that's why people just beat it with 2000 or so points.
Rice Omelette is such an early great recipe for the mixer; bonus EXP, good Pot development EXP for the energy cost, and >50% Mixer energy activation? Yeah, that'll basically always work.
That's a pretty good idea for when you're doing early levelling. I usually went with the ones that consumed more of the Arles Energy. Like, Miso Oden takes up 99 and takes effect when you have more than 50% more energy in the pot, recovers 94% of HP, and increases the rate of experience for armour synthesis (so speeds it up a little, which is what I took to believe from that; I was mostly concentrating on getting the pot up to snuff at that point).
Tuna Steak...? Is that what Tuna Bowl is now (rice + tuna)? I haven't played around with that one, but that'd be nice if someone tried to figure it out.

Cheria can be broken when she's soloing because of Indignation. A lot of players seem to like using her as solo against the final boss because of that.
Fight on Easy if you're going to fight the Rock Gagan now. If you got up to Level 10 and beat the dragons, and are at Lv 95, I think you might be okay. Just block when you notice that he's going to animate to attack. Also...
the Rock Gagan has an attack where he opens his mouth and eats a party member. If you're not blocking this and are up-close, then the character will die and you won't be able to revive him/her
. Remember that you only have 20 minutes to beat him. I used Asbel, Hubert, Cheria and Sophie (for the extra healing, tbh; I don't usually include Sophie that much in battle). But I was doing it on a higher level and difficulty.
The thing about the fact that you beat the boss in the Zone Cage is that
the final boss of the game is now powered up (you get a trophy for this too). I'd suggest doing a little bit of levelling up on Floor 10 of the Zone Cage to prepare for that one. But if you took care of Solomos easily, you might not have a problem with Lambda Teos.

Once I found out that food in the mixer literally costs nothing but Energy, I just put food in there to always activate. Just seemed logical to me. 1-2 items to create (1 rare, 1 common), 2 food items, and then books everywhere.

Miso Soup is amazing but I don't think you can make it until Chapter 7 anyway. It's basically just Rice Omelette's big brother. That also speeds up dualizing and fully heals you (or 23% with Restraint book).
And Miso Soup makes it so one fight counts as 4, as far as I know. Or whatever "EXP to Tempering" variable there is is now 4x the normal value. Dualizing with it means that +1 to like +5 or +6 takes just two fights each. Really speeds the process up, though it also means I dualize faster than I actually get shards.
...which I suppose is a good thing at 100+ shards.

Grinding her A-Artes went from "This isn't bad but man, she attacks slow" to, "wait, I can almost instant cast Indignation?" and it took awhile before I switched off of her :x
I still don't have Asbel's 4th burst caliber. Where is it? And thanks for the tips Shala. I won't lie. I did use a lot of life bottles and other items during that fight in the Zhonecage. But it powers up the final boss? Fun.
Easy -> Normal -> Moderate -> Hard -> Evil -> Chaos... right?
On moderate, "item drops are of higher quality" and on hard, better rewards for stringing better/higher combos. So, unless my combos are good or long, I won't get items of higher quality? How big do they have to be?
ok i really don't know if I can handle one more person yelling about how much they can (or can't) protect their friends or how important the power of friendship is
this shit is genuinely and without hyperbole some sub-Barney & Friends grade morality at this point
the battle system is so gooood but this is fucking torturous

Yea the friendship protect thing was really overboard and was really close to the point of getting in the way of enjoyment. Perhaps even crossed the line.

But yeah, the Japanese version was all MAMORU MAKENAI MAMORU TOMODACHIIIIIIII...IIII...! Plus the game's Tales genre is "RPG to know the strength to protect" so it's kinda unsurprising. But they did bang you over the head with the message in the Japanese version all. the. time.
Though I don't really play Tales for narrative much unless I find parts of it appealing. Most of my time was spent in battle so there was a huge space between story scenes for me to keep it far less overbearing.

Yeah. I've noticed that they typically want 20+ hits. It's easy to get higher combos when Asbel learns more artes, or when you get Hubert in the party because he can easily do 30 hits by himself.

I don't mind the story and I honestly' don't remember the last time the game was beating me over the head with "Y CAN'T I PROTECT ALL MY FRIENDS" in an annoying matter.
Then again, I guess I have a high tolerance for this stuff. So eh, I'm a pretty bad judge of things I guess.

I found the narrative rather endearing my second time through, and the F Arc ended up being rather meaningful. I ended up liking the story more, and I never really had a problem with Asbel even during my first playthrough (but that's partially because he was voiced by Takahiro Sakurai; English Asbel isn't very impressive in comparison).
Passive is always your friend whenever you're grinding for Arte usage! That way your party won't butt in with their nonsense. :lol

Right. You can't get Miso Soup until Telos Astue. But Rice Omelette is a good substitute before that.
And I figured it sped up tempering, which is better for levelling up higher-level equipment. And when you're playing on a higher difficulty, it feels like shards are thrown at you a lot.

Cheria's one of my favourite characters to use manually because she's like a powerhouse. Give her some good armour to boost her defense and she's pretty awesome.

I liked despondent Asbel. When it fit. Half the time he sounds bored when he shouldn't be.
He gets the "oh woe is me
I lost everything because I was a terrible person
" part down but didn't really transition out of it all too well.

Indeed. She also surprisingly builds combos fairly well. At the very least, she gets good lockdown with some of her multi-hit A-Artes. Kind of a surprise, really.

Yeah, I'm not sure why he always sounds out of it often since it wasn't really like that in the JP version. Sakurai at least made Asbel more believable in terms of tone (and I guess his tone colour also fits the part).
English Hubert, though, absolutely nails the character.
And whenever I use Cheria manually, I go for her A-Artes more and mix a Seraphic Bolt/Ethereal Rift in there too. It's nice that she isn't really a pure mage. Once you get really used to her, she's once of the best characters to solo as since she's good at melee, offensive magic, and defensive magic.
I'm still playing on Chaos difficulty, 1st playthrough, 40 hours in, just at the start of Chapter 5 with character levels averaging around level 48. Am I playing this game too slow or what? I don't see the point of playing through this game any other way because the story/characters is so unbelievably boring as shit. There's no other motivational factor other than fighting in this game. I couldn't care less about whatever the fuck Sophie is or who the Amarcians were. I'm still watching all the cut scenes and reading everything, but holy shit, this has to be one of THE most uneventful RPGs I've ever played.
I've never felt so disconnected from an RPG world in awhile. All this fighting between the three nations feels incredibly disjointed and half baked. I honestly believe they made the battle system first and just filled in the rest at the last minute. The whole Richard/Sophie/Asbel thing can't POSSIBLY go anywhere remotely interesting. What's the point of anything in this game, really? Don't even get me started on Richard's freakouts. So terrible, no matter how it's justified/reasoned through the game's "story".
Yet I've put 40 hours into it...? I don't think I've ever felt so conflicted about an RPG, ever.
Hubert: "That would have been perfect if you hadn't botched the finish."
Pascal: "Aww flattery will get you nowhere."
Hubert: "You insufferable woman!"
Favorite post-battle scene so far is the one where Malik tries to help Cheria get up, and you can see Asbel in the distance doing the victory pose. The absurdity of it just got me hard.
So I took a steel sword, added a shard to it and got a steel sword +1. The quality is rigid. I fought in a couple of battles, so now its tempered. now what the hell do I do with it? Is that it? It doesn't look like I can add any more shards to it...
What is the whole goal in this weapon dualizing? I mean it gave me a couple of stat points added to it, but now what? Can you get it to +2 and beyond?
I've heard a lot of comments about how the music in this game sucks, and that is definitely true early on in the game for like, all of Windor, but I'm finding a lot of the later stuff to be pretty decent. Nothing amazing or anything like that, but pretty decent, which is a huge step up from how awful it was at the start

Dualize that tempered weapon with another tempered weapon to extract the effect (e.g., if you dualized an Attack Shard with it, you'll extract the +P.Atk effect it had). You can then dualize another shard onto it. I have other posts that go more in-depth on the process.
The "point" of dualizing is you add stats to the weapon permanently (and, eventually, permanently raise the Max CC of the weapon).

Thanks! Is there a quick way to explain the process of how to go about trying to make sure you raise the max CC of the weapons? Also, should I be bothering to do this early on, or wait until I get great weapons?
Lastly, are there any items i should make sure to hold on to and not waste, because they are important for things down the road?
This is a luck based fight. The AI seems to get gobbled up by him, removing them from the battle. I tried this several times. This time I got him with just Asbel(controlling) and Pascal. Though she died quite a few times. At least I knew when to dodge and get out of the way. And heh at 0 SP and 0 gald.
I still don't have Cheria's formal wear. Anyone want to point me to it?

Block block block, and get away from him when he animates to eat you. You can also set people to passive/defensive and issue orders to them to cast whatever.
And Cheria's vestment is given to you when you do the Baronia inn request for the tuning fork (which you can find in the Seaside Cavern (somewhere in the crossroads where you can find the glowy tree).
