Tales of Xillia Day 1 Edition (NA, EU), Collector's Edition (NA, EU) announced

God I hate it when CE says "Selection CD" it tends to mean something from 4 songs to 12 max =/, but preordered cause I wanted to play this anyway.

All I want is Meaning of a Mission. That is all.

Watching mecha. BBL. LOLLOLOLOL

Another oversized paper box and statue limited edition... kinda disappointed.

For LE, all I want is
- Steel book
- >200 pages book
- soundtrack
- nice, compact package

Look like I will get regular version.

Considering how shitty the steelbook inside was for ToV, no thanks.

I've never really been the type to change costumes from the default. Only if they were extremely annoying. I think the last game I did that with is Serah's outfit in XIII-2 in which I went for the lesser of two evils in the pink summoner garb. And while I hate the idea of buying costumes, if the white mage outfit was available earlier I might have caved since that actually looks nice.

Costumes seem largely bearable here. I mean Milla is a bit tacky, but it's not really annoying by any means.

I usually use costumes during a second playthrough (only times I change it in my first playthrough is to check out the music changes when you change costume then I change back to default).

Then get the Day 1 edition. I for one am happy to get a statue for a game I'm sure to love.

The only time I really recall changing costumes because of actually liking the new ones instead of annoyance at the defaults outfits was Tales of the Abyss. Luke's Berserker, Tear's Cool Chick and somthing of Guy's. All black you get near the end but I forgot it's name.

Niiiice! Us getting a CE in NA and EU is exciting and means that Namco is at least making an effort with this game. I'm in for the CE as soon as the pre-order links go up. I'm actually knee deep in my Graces f playthrough and as I'm approaching the endgame the more I play it the more I like it. I am excited and I have ENTHUSIASM!

Ni No Kuni Selection CD had a generous helping of two songs =(

It would have been nice if the Day 1 edition was coming to NA, it looks a lot more appealing to me than the collectors edition. I could import but I feel like if I'm going to be getting hit with import fees it would be easier to just get the limited edition.

Day 1 Ed 50 page artbook better not be the same stunt pulled with the Tales of Graces f Day 1 (Was stated Hardbacked and just turned out to be a perfect bound glued affair). Tempted to order the Collectors Ed, even more so see as Bamcos store says they wont take payment until dispatch. Oh why does cheap tat sucker me in?

So August 6. Would have preferred it earlier, but I'll take what I can get.

I'm really excited to play this one because the character team seems to have potential for interesting chemistry.

We have:

-Our average JRPG male protagonist.
-A mysterious alien female character who has no idea how to live as a human.
-A hot shot mercenary.
-A show girl mage.
-A shy young girl who's clingy to the male protagonist.
-And a butler.

If this kind of setup doesn't give way for funny skits, then I don't know what will.

Hearing selected retailers hopefully means I won't have to wait for Digital River to never send it to me.

Should have included a Tipo plushie instead though.

The Collector's Edition does look nice, but I already have Alter's Milla figure [posted earlier in this thread]. She's beautiful.

Even still, I'll pre-order this. I'm interested in the artbook and having a second Milla figure won't be a bad thing. :)

haha yeah after the ni no kuni wizard edition fiasco i will be ignoring anything they say about a US collector's edition for this game.

Alter's figure is still loads better than the special edition but I might end up buying it anyway. That way I'll have two figures! Not particularly too enthusiastic about the English VA but I usually enjoy them for the most part. Guess I'll try to beat ToX in Japanese again before it comes out. The artbook is something I want since I ended up buying ToX2's artbook as well.

Doesn't look like they'll be releasing the special PS3. That's too bad.

Alter's figure also costs more than the game itself. So.... lol.

So thats it for the updates? Like is this going to be available on Amazon? I really would like to know. And if you preorder do you get the DLC costumes like EU is.

I'm going to go ahead and say "yes," the game feels half-finished. Definitely. No sorta about it. But not because of the story. It's pretty much everything else that's half-baked.

Cliffhanger ending? Can't be any worse than the "to be continued....." text at the end of XIII-2.
No, the narrative is complete.

It's just like Aeana said: everything else feels incomplete or designed/paced oddly in a way that makes it feel like it's incomplete, or they're simply done for the sake of being done and thrown into the game as opposed to being done to be meaningful (ie: the sidequests, the EX dungeon, the final act of the game, cooking, shop build, etc.).

that's a shame, i really like the battle system from just watching the videos. guess i'll cancel the preorder then.

I'm still going to get the CE. I wish it was a Jude figure. Does Jude even have a figure like that? Plus they said the story/characters is better than Graces, that is saying something.

wait, is this one of them tales games that feels half finished?

Kind of. The story feel complete, although the end of it feels rushed.

The environments are really bland, and it's somewhat obvious they cut Gaius and Musee's playability (at least they're in Xillia 2 though). Some of the usual side content you might expect from the series (hot springs scene, etc) are also missing.

It's still a solid and enjoyable game though. I enjoyed my time with it.

I'm too excited for this. Now I won't have to import this from EU like I did with the Graces f Day 1 edition.

I called my usual Gamestop, and had the person look up to see if you could preorder the CE. She saw it in the system, but it's not listed as preorderable yet, but to check back within the week. She also said you will need to put down $25 towards the order. I'm hoping that it's up tomorrow so I can preorder asap.

Just wondering, how could they have been playable since
they are the villains? Or at least they oppose the party no? Unless they would have been playable only for a bit, in which case no thanks.

You're gonna have to play the game to figure that out. ;)
