Tales of Xillia Day 1 Edition (NA, EU), Collector's Edition (NA, EU) announced

After the Ni No Kuni fiasco, Gamestop seems like the most based company on Earth.

As long as they don't pull a Fire Emblem at least I know my copy is relatively secure.

I pre-ordered two copies of P4G(Solid Gold Edition) from Gamestop. One, at the time of the pre-order, the guy put in for a regular one, not a CE, so that was one I was screwed over. The second(online one) there was a problem with the address, and the lady I called instead of fixing it, apparently cancelled it. A second call got them to get one out of the warehouse, but it was a near thing.

I'd much rather hope Amazon has it at this point, don't trust Gamestop really. Put the pre-order there, will cancel it the second I see Amazon go up(if it does).

Pre-ordered at GameStop for now, but not sure if I'll keep it. The figure sounds great, but I don't collect them. If the art book would be bigger and OST would be full then it'd be a different story.

Attempting to sit and wait patiently for Amazon...

...probably just going to pre-order at Gamestop. They make me fucking nervous though. Atleast this isn't a situation like with Fire Emblem where I basically left work early the day before the release on rumors that the pre-order art books were being handed out. I didn't want to lose out. Turns out it was correct, I did get my art book early and that makes me nervous from now on about Gamestop's very loose standards.

Gamestop does have this up for pre-order in stores as I just got back from making one at my local shop. $25.00 down for the CE and street date of 8/6 which means the same day as Dragon's Crown.

Do they take $25 if you preorder it from gamestop.com? Also, is that the Alter figure of Milla?

Was a new policy from gamestop stores a year or so ago. They take a deposit down to do a pre-order of any CE. Used to be $10 a year or so ago, now is $25. This applies only to walking in a store, online there's no down payment, so to speak.

Sweet. I'll head into my store this morning and register my preorder. Thanks for the heads-up.

I don't have photos but prize figures are figures you can get from winning at games at arcades. Still common in Japan.

I guess this is it. Doesn't look to bad.

They got the picture up on gamestop.com now for the CE, still nothing about DLC costumes. I'd hope the $100 CE would include them. Don't feel like spending anymore, lol.

Probably buy normal edition.
Didn't like graces at all despite some good gameplay ideas because of art character and plot style.
Hoping this to have at least a faster bs, backgrounds and characters look more interesting luckily

If you're hoping for a faster battle system than Graces, you're out of luck.

It does feel a little faster than Vesperia though.

Huh? The speed and physics / animation speeds in Xillia are really quick.

I was saying this in another thread last night, but I'll mention it here. I ended up playing Graces f last night to compare the physics and animation speeds to Xillia 2's because Graces f is considerably slower than Xillia 1 (ugh, it sounds like I'm talking about a freaking Sonic game because I'm talking about speed and who talks about physics and animation speeds in RPGs >:|). The slower speed and recovery times worked because you needed to switch between styles and recover from it, and the weak hit meter compensated for that as it kept the combo going while you're trying to recover. I think in terms of speed, it's Xillia 1 > Xillia 2 = Graces, maybe. But the rate at which Asbel, Cheria, and Hubert's artes hit, it feels like Graces' system works fast. They hit hard, and they hit often.

I think I'm starting to understand why I played that game so much. Three times, with almost 300 hours from scratch combined. It's not my game of the generation, but fuck, I had tons of fun with it and that's what matters the most to me. One of my favourite battle systems this generation. Tops every Tales game released this gen by far. Xillia 2 seems to try to create a happy medium between Xillia and Graces in terms of the battle system (and it's definitely a more decent balanced attempt at it than Xillia 1 was), but I still prefer Graces as a game overall.

Feels much faster when you level up their speed stats. The animation speeds for Jude in particular makes him faster than normal, and that's part of the reason why he's broken. The speed/physics/animation speed between Xillia 1 and Xillia 2/Graces are very apparent. Especially when you play them back-to-back.

Apparently you don't follow me on Twitter or check the Pick-Ups GAF thread where I always post my figure pickups. ;)

I follow you on twitter but I haven't been using it as of late. T_T Same with Pick-ups. lol.

Oh right. I think you guys can use the code SAVER for free shipping if you don't mind waiting a bit to receive your game from Gamestop's website.

Well I pre-ordered the Limited Edition off of Gamestop.com.

I'm really...really hoping that a Canadian site offers it. I'd really hate to have to import from the US and pay those outrageous brokerage charges. -_-

If a Canadian site allows pre-orders, I'll cancel my Gamestop one. However, I thought I'd secure a pre-order just in-case.

Pre-ordered it from gs.com as a backup plan, even though I'm in canada, and i really don't want to pay $20 in shipping.

edit: yo chrono01, my brother in arms

How is AI control in this game? Some games allow you to quickly switch between ai modes, some don't.

No different AI modes.

You also can't change your linked partner's AI in a less tedious fashion, which gets annoying as linked partners can do stupid stuff sometimes. It's another issue that went overlooked in the first game and got fixed in the second.

Pre-ordered from .com like the other Canadian folk. Really hoping that this show up on .ca, I don't know if it's just me but I have been extremely impressed with gamestop online shipping speed. I always get my games on release date and very much prefer it to amazon these days.

Not sure if this fits here, but...

If I had to purchase only one Tales of Xillia, should I go for 1 or 2?

For reference, I'm not really bothered about the story progression (so I'm fine with playing 2 before 1 or not playing 1 at all) or the fact that 2 hasn't been announced yet for English-speaking territories (I don't have access to a PS3 yet).

Also, a(nother?) silly question...

Can you unlock the ToX1 costumes in ToX2? I'm not really a fan of some of the new costumes, haha.

This game actually looks really fun, I assumed that it was just a turn based battle system. I think I'll end up picking the collectors edition.

If you had to only play one, definitely play 2. You miss watching the characters progress into who they become in Xillia 2, but it's a pretty standalone story and of the two, I'd say it's the better game.

And you can unlock the X1 costumes for use in X2.

Thanks! If I'm interested in the characters (and have the budget and time), I could check out 1 later.

Woohoo, Xillia 2 is definitely on my radar now!
