So titles do nothing this time around? I don't know if I should be happy or sad. I really didn't like the grind fest in Graces for skills. I really liked that different titles messes with your stats though in other games. If they do nothing, then that is pretty pointless. How many DLC costumes are there? If Rowen has 0 in the game, I'm sure he has quite a few. Really don't want to buy them, but I can't have a Tales without costume changing. It's a staple to the series.
Titles give grade. Because of this there's a maximum amount of grade you can possibly have and IIRC you don't get enough to buy everything unlike most Tales games.
Including stuff that may not release here, there's 48 costumes. Only Jude, Alvin, and Milla have costumes you can find within the game.

Ouch, that is a ton of DLC costumes. And I'm sure we will get most of those, but we will have to pay up I'm guessing. I really want that Leon costume for Jude and this one:

As far as i'm aware the only times where titles matterred to your stats were in Symphonia and Graces. You might be disapointed but there was plenty of tales of without values for titles.
However in this game titles matter in the sense that they directly influence your grade for new gameplus.
As for dlc , in the japanese version everyone had a palette swap color dlc that was given for free.
Then for paid content you had :
-Tales content 1 ( pre order bonus for jude and mila )
-Star driver costumes ( star driven theme costumes for everyone, having the costume and doing some moves change the name of the move and some after effects ).
Having the costumes equipped also change the victory theme and the victory dialog
Above costume will most likely never be available outside japan
-Idolmaster 2 costumes for Mila, elise and leila
( having at least one of the costumes equipped at the start of battle will change the battle theme to an idolmaster one )
Above costume will most likely never be available outside japan
-Mila White bunny costume ( was pre order bonus in japan )
-School themed costumes for everyone ( rowen get a school caretaker costume. Having one of the costume equipped also change the battle music)
-Swimsuit costumes for everyone
-Maid and butler costumes for everyone
-Tales content 2 ( cameo tales of costumes for everyone , these costumes change the Battle music AND the victory quotes and also some of the move names )
So now that i look , for rowen he has 5 dlc costumes + 1 palette swap costume.
This is one of the star driver costumes. The costumes comes in parts so you can choose to wear only the clothes or the full setOuch, that is a ton of DLC costumes. And I'm sure we will get most of those, but we will have to pay up I'm guessing. I really want that Leon costume for Jude and this one:

The good news is that those dlc worked for xillia 2 so i feel like i've made a good deal now.
Yeah i've got all the maid costumes , most of the school ones, all the tales of cameos.
The idolmaster music is horrible for more than 10 minutes ... so don't feel bad that we won't get that one ...
Ps: aside from the costumes there are accesories for your character to wear ( such as new hairstyles or new items to wear )
so yeah there is some dlc in this game lol.

Why are they so overpriced in NA? Costumes shouldn't cost more than $0.99. I'm part of the problem though cause I bought Hubert's Flynn costume, only cause I have Yuri's outfit for Asbel. That was $4.99!
Because it's Namco. Why is it a surprise when it's the same company who did the Katamari DLC?

How much did you pay for her? I want to get one, myself. But everywhere I look she seems to be over $100, which is a bit steep, IMO.
As for the game, I reserved my Collector's Edition today. Yay!
It'll always be around that price because Alter figures are premium figures. Their Milla figure is extremely popular for some reason.

It's probable that you'll get the costume as dlc. It shoudln't cause so many problems.
The hair work on this one is freaking gorgeous .
And yep that's the usual price for such quality.( and don't get me started on taxes )

Well the battle system is a continued evolution of the titles you played (Symphonia->Abyss->Vesperia->Xillia). It is basically Vesperia's battle system minus Fatal Strikes plus Link Mode (two characters teaming up), a new combo limiter mechanic (AC), and the battle system is a little faster. I'm sure you'll like the battles.
Characters are great except possibly Jude. There was one scene in particular I wanted to gut him. Thankfully, from what I've heard, he matures in X2.
As for the story ... I wasn't exactly wowed by it but it was enjoyable!

Honestly I just abhorred Abyss' characters and its incessant backtracking to previously-explored areas. I avoided Graces F because I heard its story wasn't that great either, so if Xillia is at least better than those two, then I think I'll be happy.
No, it doesn't have long stretches of backtracking. In fact, you can insta-teleport anywhere like in Graces later on.
Story wise, it's better than those two, yeah. But it is Tales of....so eh.
What sucks in Xillia that the fields are boring and the ports all look the same. But that's not really a pacing issue, that's more of a gameplay design thing. >_>

YES. This is honestly my biggest cripe with the game. Cities are great, but field areas are bland and boring. Also dungeons lack any real puzzles, which disappointed me. I was always a fan of puzzles to make dungeons interesting.
