Tales Of Zestiria is coming to PS3/PS4 October 16th and PC October 20th

So, all the protagonist controversy aside, how is this game?

How does it compare to, say, Xillia?

I enjoyed Xillia, but I haven't finished it and I'm probably not trotting the old PS3 out any time soon to do so.

I promised myself that after being a little disappointed by Xillia 1 and 2 that I wouldn't buy another Tales game at launch.

...PS4, though.

Plus I guess I broke that promise when Hearts R came out anyway, which blown Xillia/2 out of the water but still. If there's a steelbook pre-order then I may be sold. PS4 needs more RPGs anyway.

Care to elaborate?

Hard to do without spoiling, but in short some people that were just too invested in a certain character ended up disappointed because him/her was not present in the entire game as a full/playable character which generated quite the buzz in Japan.

Opinions differ.
I didn't like Xillia at all and rather enjoyed Zestiria, for others it's the opposite.

Overall you could say they are in the same league.

Same month as Dragon Quest Heroes. Decisions.

Good to see all these Japanese rpg's on PS4. I wonder where Persona 5 will fit in.

Pretty much the other thred already spoiled it. Even though still have no idea why he/she isn't available all the time.

I hope the fact that they have a Tales Blog now means the forums are coming back too. Well..I suppose it was on it's way out when they took it down anyway.

I read some lukewarm impressions from importers. I'll have to see this for myself.

Game is fine. Camera sucks though in some areas, but it is playable. Story is darkish and okay, graphics were okay, battle system had some cool things, soundtrack was awesome (still listening to it). Imo it was better than Xillia 1, mutual with Xillia 2 (thought Xillia 2 was better than 1), worse than Vesperia/Symphonia (for current titles)

OH FUCKING GOD, The game will be localized(subtitled) to BRAZIL! I mean, I don't care if it is in English or Portuguese, but the more games localized in Brazil the better.(According to the Steam store.

Day 1, probably PC if I can keep my controllers reliably synced. Want to play this in the living room with the wife, but don't want to move my PS4 out of my office, so I'll use Steam streaming.

Hopefully the PC version offers resolutions beyond a mere 1080p without outside fixes; the tendency to have FXAA in games like this leaves something to be desired (like downsampling). Regardless, I'll probably show my support for the first Tales game on PC by buying it.

Errrr. Was the page written by Bandai Namco Asia or something?

"Hold on to what you strive for!"

"Sheperd"

"human darkness"

"Sory"

Wut.

The portuguese version also says "fusion of Sory and Seraphim" lol

Is that supposed to be Sorey? Because they got the name right in the paragraph just before it. lol

Bamco has a history of releasing Tales games whenever a Final Fantasy game does so since there is no FF this year they had to go for DQ. lol

Hopefully it won't come out till early December. There are too many games in October already, and if P5 comes out around the same time I won't be playing anything else.

It also correctly says Shepherd in the top blurb, but in the description it's wrong. Hopefully the PC release will have better QA than the Steam page text! :P

YEEEEES!!!! AT LAAAAST!! Worst kept secret ever lol

And October 16th was accurate! I'm off to PS4 preorder then :D

I wonder if they'll just port it or the PS4 version will get extras....

HUm that trailer has like things only from the first 3 hours of the game.
It's good.. not real spoilers in there. ( for better or worse )

I don't think this trailer was made from the PS3 version.. ( my memory wouldn't play trick on me because i really remember it much more jaggier )

I'd like a list of PC enhancements, Namco has been pretty good on PC for the most part since Souls.

Wasn't Naruto pretty fucked up too? It depends on who's doing the port I think. Dragon ball turned out fine since Dimps could handle it.

with those specs it can't be anything other than a simple uprez port, shockingnews.

Going by the trailer posted on steam , i don't think they even worked on the textures, they are the same really.
Expected.. The most important thing to correct was the framerate and the jaggies ( i can only hope )

Why are they using the PS3 version shots?

Ah Ah ah ..don't expect too much of this game in terms of graphics

A lot of people calling out the platform they're going to buy it on.
I'm interested in seeing the GAF breakdown after someone created a similar poll for Bloodstained showing that people wanted it for PS4 and PC the most.
However since this game is purely limited to PS platforms and PC... I'm super interested to see the GAF interest breakdown. So I made a poll. Feel free to vote.

I don't completely hate the font this time, woo.

Guess we have to wait until who knows when for Bamco to announce the LE? After like 15 leaks of it I guess? :D
