The good one. Maybe I could use some of your parts when you kill yourself. :p
I have two machines that are pretty much equal, my office computer is:
Asus P5N-E SLI
Core2Duo E6600
4gb DDR2 800
HD4850

and I have a HTPC:

Gigabyte P45
Core2Dou E8400
4gb DDR2 1066
HD4830

The HTPC actually runs TF2 better because of the faster CPU. But the office PC runs L4D and other games better. When Valve breaks the game I'll make sure to earmark my stuff before I off myself.

I... uh...

What were they thinking when they wrote those... "lyrics" for that remix?

Who cares about the music, it's the gameplay that matters.

I managed to punch out a level 1 sentry in front of an Engineer the other day. Hilarity ensued.

So... Does this only work when they're close to a wall? Or do you get hit back allllll the way til you hit a wall? :lol interesting though. It's always fun having corpses like in hl2 :lol on the wall

I can just imagine critting someone in the head and since crit kills always send people FLYING, they'll launch all the way across the level onto a wall.

Glorious.

"Now, hold on," you keep saying. "Aren't bows and arrows primitive and harmless?" Why don't you ask the dinosaurs? Except you can't, because the cavemen bow and arrowed them to death.
:lol :lol :lol

this is new:

No, the Huntsman doesn't stun. It pins dead/dying players.
:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

This has the potential to be truly awesome. Will probably have more fun with this weapon that the standard sniper rifle (not that I have that bad of an aim with it).

LEADING CONFIRMED!

There's no other reason for the 1 second charge up or the necessity to be close.

Still probably going to use the normal sniper.
Maybe it even will have less zoom.

As crazy as it sounds, I kind of hope the arrow does more damage if you hit further away. I guess it probably will, like the flare gun, but it'd be fun to snipe with a projectile like that.

Now I wonder what the other unlocks will be.

What I like about the huntsman is that now when I sniper is attacking one of your teammates, and they don't tell you, now you'll know because instead of just being low on health they'll have a fucking arrow sticking out of their ass.

So they want snipers closer to the action? I hope it gives HP, because snipers are very easy to kill.

I think it's going to be one of those "more damage/slower firing rate" tradeoffs in addition to the pinning dead/dying targets.

Courtesy of Robin Walker, one of the co-designers of the series.

In our multiplayer FPS games, players tend to die a lot. Death is one of the great feedback mechanisms we have in the game, helping you evaluate your own skill versus that of your opponents, and the viability of the tactics being employed by each of you. Being hopeless optimists, we'd like your deaths to be positive experiences. When we started working on TF2, 22 years ago, we decided to examine the things that affected how players felt about their deaths in TFC. Our starting theory was that, for death to be a positive experience, players had to feel like they could have avoided dying if they'd done something different. We found two factors that seemed to be important in light of that theory:

* The first was whether or not you understand what killed you. If you don't know what killed you, that death is failing in providing you the feedback it's supposed to, and you won't be able to figure out what you could have done differently. Unsurprisingly, we saw that these deaths were highly aggravating to players, and in sufficient number caused new players to stop playing entirely. Trying to reduce the number of these deaths in TF2 was done through a variety of changes. It was one of the reasons why we chose to remove the hand-held grenades that each class had in TFC, which were one of the primary causes of these deaths. It was one of several goals that led to the creation of the freezecam.
* The second was whether you felt you were actually engaged with the person who killed you. Dying to someone you weren't engaged with, especially when you were already engaged with someone else, was aggravating. Even worse was dying to someone who you couldn't have engaged with, even if you chose to. In that case, you're very unlikely to believe you could have done anything differently to survive.

In particular, the second seemed to be the root cause of the hatred of Snipers. You're often killed by them while you're engaged with an enemy in the foreground, and most of the time the Sniper is so far away it feels like you couldn't have dealt with him even if you didn't have enemies nearby. In fact, the Sniper's goal is to create that relationship: he specifically wants to fight enemies outside their engagement range, because that's his primary advantage.

Which brings us back to the Sniper Rifle unlockable. In an effort to reduce some of the aggravation that other players feel towards the Sniper, we chose the goal of designing an unlockable that encouraged the Sniper to get a little closer to his target. We want him to give up some of his primary advantage in return for something else, so that enemies he kills feel like they were engaged with them, and feel like they could have survived if they'd just managed to fight a little better.

Just remember that these unlockables are just that. It's up to you, the player, whether you deem them worthy of use or not. Valve isn't forcing your hand.

SPY NERF IN DISGUISE

I'd like to see an inflatable sniper doll that explodes and does damage or spatters paint on a spy (making him unable to fully cloak) which also acts as a decoy for other snipers.

I wouldn't use it, but I'm talking about the people that do. As a demo I kill snipers with ease at close range.

What if you're standing near a cliff does the knock-back push you over?

Hey guys, I'm interested in buying this game however I want to make sure it runs on my computer decently. I was told in another thread one of you might have a weekend pass. If so, I'd appreciate it if I can try the game out. :D

When the update hits most likely.

Or you can just post your computer specs.
If you can run Source you can run TF2.

You should buy it anyway even if you can't run it

Also there should be a free weekend when the update hits.

I love the bottom of the Sniper's postcard.

I have a bad feeling the rainy arena stage is going to kill the framerate of some weaker video cards. Or look completely awful, either way...

Spy nerf: confirmed. At least now you don't have the SMG to fight the Spy with (assuming this replaces the SMG, that is)

No matter what class you are, you always want a sniper with a SMG. It's a shit weapon. Should be no match for the revolver

I just opened up Steam and TF2 is no longer installed wftwtf?!? Is this a known bug of some kind? I was playing less than 24 hours ago, PC hasn't crashed or anything since then. And due to being in Australia I have terrible download limits and can't really redownload an entire game right now :(

I'll make it my mission from this point on to stab snipers the most. Gotta molest their no-shield backs while I still can!

just restart Steam and it should work fine. I've had that happen to me before.

It seems awfully specific to me. You're replacing an all-purpose weapon with something that counters only one kind of attack from one class.

Plus I assume it'll be visible, so no spy is actually going to stab you with it, making it basically a deterrent.

Like I keep saying, these unlockables are not improvements unless realistically stated. They are supposed to be situational items used in differing scenarios. You won't see a Sniper running around with this and a Huntsman because this slows the Sniper's movement down somewhat.. instead I'm sure many Snipers may prefer the ability to have their back/side protected by this when they are backed to the defensive wall using their rifle.

I'll just use the revolver, two to three shots and there goes a dead sniper. :lol This makes me want to Kritzkrieg nothing but Spies today.
