Terrorist attack in London [up: 6 people killed, ~50 injured, 3 attackers dead]

Bish loves my games!
Yep, and there are police boats patrolling over there for that.

I've walked London Bridge dozens of times. Thats a fucking big drop to the water from there.

Didn't a woman do it during the last London attack and gravely injure herself/die?

There are broadcasting "guidelines". Talking about people getting killed is strangely more acceptable than the c word being broadcasted at 00:30 am

:
It's just so strange, I mean God forbid you hurt someones delicate sensibilities with a swear while discussing innocent people dying.

Dont think that will change much, these people are hidden from mainstream muslims. Something needs to be done, im at the point now where we really need to think about certain freedoms.

What freedoms are you personally willing to give up?

Or do you just want to remove freedoms from others?

Dang. I was almost on London Bridge when this attack happened.

Was strolling around the river with two friends and we were going to find a pub in the area. Luckily, one of them lost her earring and we headed back to Waterloo to find it.

What the hell is going on in the UK lately? Bad enough as it is that we had that bombing attack at the concert, but now we have this too? At the rate this is going, UK is going to match Paris in the amount of attacks we've seen lately. Not to mention that if this is tied in again with terrorism, we're not going to hear the end of this from anyone here (although if I just read a reply correctly just now, Trump didn't waste a moment to call for the ban. Something to which I haven't confirmed yet since I just found out at the time of posting this comment).

Condolences to the victims.

How can Europe and the U.K. Address the problem of terrorism without infringing on the rights of muslims to practice their religion?

More resources and funding where it is needed.

There are 3000+ on the terror watch list in the uk but very few seem to be GPS tagged and even fewer actually watched. Then there is the ignored intel given by the public in the case of the Manchester bomber.

Yep, she died a week or so later in hospital. Last to die, iirc.

Shut down mosques preaching hate speech.

Arrest anyone known to have fought in Mid East conflicts, regardless of whoever it was they fought alongside, upon their return to Europe.

Invest heavily in security and intelligence resources (and not sack 20,000 officers to save a few quid).

Work to integrate European intelligence services to bring about better intel gathering. An EU intelligence agency to help with this coordinating effort like Europol does with policing would be a good start.

End the Syrian, Yemeni and Libyan civil wars.

It's not even worth asking that question. Nobody is going to do shit. Europeans will continue to die on our own streets and anyone who proposes a solution will be labelled a racist.

I live not too far from London Bridge. I was at work when it happened so I'm safe, I just need to actually get home now.

Fairly certain that depends entirely on the 'solution' they propose. Because I've yet to be called racist for saying 'stabilize the middle east'.

Arrest vets returning from war? That'll go over well.

This is so awful, why does this shit has to happen? What compels someone to hurt and kill innocent people on the streets?

This is so sick, and disheartening. My condolences to the victim's families.

It's not a huge drop from London Bridge to the Thames, depending on whether the tide's in or out. The real problem starts when you're in the water. Even if hypothermia doesn't get you, there are all kinds of treacherous currents and eddies in the river that can drag you under, and that's to say nothing of the diseases you can catch. The Thames was an open sewer for centuries.

With great difficulty, people do not like to make the distinction that it is Islamic extremists/terrorists because of how it can be taken as offensive, but i feel people need to be strong and have a conversation, the issues are difficult but they need to be talked about - extreme elements of any religion that advocates violence against others should be challenged and challenged through every avenue without trying to separate it from religions.
It does already happen don't get me wrong, but i feel there needs to be a better funded and stronger response to extreme views in society, in religious establishments, in schools, and in prisons, even to the point that those who perpetuate such views have their freedoms restricted

I don't know. Radicalization inside prisons is a growing problem. I think when these people decide to take trips to Syria or Libya we should be able to revoke their citizenship. I don't care about their human rights or right to a "family life". Ideally you wouldn't want such people strolling around freely.

on a level i agree with this, i think anyone who consciously left to join daesh knowing what they do to their own people and anyone who doesn't join them and especially anyone who took part in any murders, beheadings etc should NEVER be allowed to return to the country and a 'normal life' they should be treated as war criminals and dealt with at the Hague like we dealt with the Nazi's

the rest of your post? its way off the mark

I'm probably being harsher than i normally would but this incident is fresh and i'm waiting to hear if family who live in the area were out, i just pray they were at home

even if you do infringe their rights,it's not like people stop following a religion because you told them to,let alone radicalized people that already are taught to hate the west anyway

Any UK broadcaster is going to apologise for that. The word cunt is still a swear word, and especially when used in a racial context. You could get arrested for saying that in public, depending on the situation of course.

Yeah, it may be a common word on the street, but it's still one of the most severe when it comes to TV in the UK.

I'm going to have to head off to sleep due to having work in the morning, but I'm dreading waking in the morning to read the summary of what's happened with the fatality count :(

You can prepare by going after the terrorists, going after the cells, going after the radical clerics, going after those who are traveling back and forth between Britain and terrorist HQ in the middle east. Longer and harsher sentences, deportations, enhanced surveillance.

Yep, I'm sure camera footage is going stop a vehicle randomly accelerating and swerving off-road... You can't predict this form of attack.

If someone chooses to cause an accident on the road, they can anywhere, and you're pretty naive if you think otherwise.

Google says about 9 meters. Would be possible I guess, but that is going to hurt. Especially if you land badly. And be cold.

better chances than being in the imminent danger getting stabbed, I'd think. It's night and the water is cold but a 9m drop into a river isn't crazy

Gunfire reported 10 minutes before, as intense gunfire? Barrow Market? This is so confusing reporting still.

1) Borough Market
2) Intense gunfire was widely reported by armed police
3) the situation, especially the information regarding the incident is fluid and confusing at the moment, yes.
