Does anyone know of any laptops with Haswell chips that are ~$600-$700?
No sir, simply because the Haswell dual cores haven't hit the market yet. Give it a couple weeks.

Just been told by Lenovo that they're replacing the Y500 with the Y510 in July but a quick google just brings up some model released in 2008. Has anything been announced/revealed about it yet? I'm assuming it's going to be rocking the 700 series Nvidias as opposed the 650m in the Y500? Looks like I best hang fire until July.
They have it already, I have been eyeing it as a possibility, the Lenovo y510p. Dual 750m in sli
Should an intel i3 with 4 gigs and an integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 be enough to run simple games like Dota or starcraft at low-mid settings?
So my new laptop arrived today, and although I opted not to buy an operating system for it (as I have Windows 7 I can install) they've sent it preloaded with Windows 8. Is there going to be an issues reformatting the laptop and installing Windows 7? I have a bootable USB drive created with their tool and ISO. What's my best option?
I wouldn't mind sticking with 8 normally, but I'd have to buy it and I have a copy of 7 I can use instead.
So if I am looking to spend $1000-$1100 on a laptop, the Lenovo Y510p are the way to go?
Also should I get the "doorbuster" which is $850, or is the 25Gb SSD worth it? It does not look like any of the current options have the dual graphics cards like some of the Y500s did.
Is it kosher to offer things for sale here? I've got a G46VW I'm thinking about selling to move back into a desktop.
thinking of going in for the lenovo y410p very soon. The model I'm looking at is $900. Wondering if there is any reason if I should wait on this or not? I've heard here that new Nvidia cards are coming but haven't heard much in the past few weeks.
I need the laptop equivalent of Eurogamer's Digital Forge PC. Something good enough to run Trackmania 2, Dota 2, Eve Online and many indie games. It would be nice if i could play well optimized games of this gen at medium.
Thanks!!!
Lol. Sorry. I meant digital foundry PC. Digital foundry are Eurogamers tech guys. Last year they designed a low budge desktop pc for eurogamer. The idea was creating something comparable to the aging current gen. A pc in which proper, optimized pc games would stand out over lazy ports that expect you to have i7 and amd 7999.Eurogamer's what? Link?

I would love to have a laptop version of that. I was thinking to stretch my budget and get a lenovo y500 or similar but i preffer to do that when the next gen games are here.
Sure, go for it.
Can GPUs lose performance? For some reason I see some slowdowns from time to time in some games. Games likes NBA 2K13 or Battlefield ran without problems in the past. Now I see some framerate drops from time to time. I have the 650m. 8 months old device.
Is the color of the backlighting on those Lenovos always red or can you change it? I'd love a Lenovo but red is about my least favorite color for that kind of thing.
The GE40 does look nice, and as a bonus its GTX 760M is way faster than the GT 750M.I am so hesitant on this purchase. Not sure why. Been hearing bad things about wireless cards in the lenovo y410p. Now I'm considering MSI GE40 ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
After 8 months of use, the problem may be throttling due to overheating. Install then run HWMonitor in the background, while you game, to see what peak temp your CPU and GPU are reaching.
Well apparently this is why the BB version of the g750 is cheaper than the regular versions. Apart from the 4gb less of RAM, it looks like they are using cheaper displays.

They all look to have some issue with horizontal lines. And that is why I never buy bb laptops, they are normally gimped. Made the mistake with the g74 but lucky I was in the return period so I just returned it and got the proper one with better GPU.
How come these are still not on sale in Europe? The only place I've seen that even lists them just says coming soon.
That particular model w/ the nvidia 770m isn't out yet. The one with the 765m is however.
Self-quoting here, but I'm about ready to pull the trigger on this. So $2,000 budget or so, could go a little higher if the extra outlay is extremely worth it. Would like a 17" screen.I'm looking to spend less than $2,000 on a gaming laptop once I move to the US next month.
Size isn't an issue. In fact, I'd prefer a big screen because my fiancée and I have a tiny television and have little space and no interest in getting a bigger one. So the laptop could well be what we end up watching movies and TV shows on. I could live without a Blu-Ray drive, though (ahem).
No other particular requirements about weight or battery life. The only reason I'm not buying a desktop is I need a little flexibility about being able to bring my PC places occasionally, and we really don't have the space to allow for a desktop machine (which would first of all require us finding room for a desk...).
So yeah, pretty big budget, would love to play the latest games, would favour a good screen.
So i played around one hour now. Played Most Wanted and Tomb Raider
I didn't notice any big slowdowns like in F1 2012 or NBA 2K12. Seems strange.
If I did go G750, I'd buy through a reseller and pay for one of the premium screen upgrades.Well apparently this is why the BB version of the g750 is cheaper than the regular versions. Apart from the 4gb less of RAM, it looks like they are using cheaper displays.

What do you think of the GT70?Self-quoting here, but I'm about ready to pull the trigger on this. So $2,000 budget or so, could go a little higher if the extra outlay is extremely worth it. Would like a 17" screen.
What should I be looking at?
I need a laptop for school, and right now I'm between the Lenovo Y510p dual graphics and this MSI http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CR8WB7I/?tag=neogaf0e-20
My only concern with MSI is I don't know how reliable of a brand it is and also are AMD processors as good as Intel?
Great review from Anandrech, for those wondering how much of a hit the 7970M/8970M take when paired with AMD's processors.
What's the current ETA on the Asus G75s with the GTX 780M again? I'm hyped to get a new laptop (finally) and it's come down to either that or an MSI with a 780M with the former being preferred (love the look).
Is the price difference very much?I just noticed something, on the Y510p SLI the processor is 4th gen 2.2 GHz, while the Y500 SLI has 3rd gen 2.4GHz, and costs less.
Is the Y510p actually better or should I go for Y500 if I decide on Lenovo?
Hmm.. apparently with the MSI GT70, the touchpad is unusable while you're typing, meaning it deactivates whenever a key is being pressed. That's kinda a deal breaker for me.
The preorder embargo on the 780M model supposedly ends on June 26th. That's something I've heard through unofficial channels, so we'll see what happens on Wednesday.
Is the price difference very much?
No, it's not a huge price difference, only around 100 or so.
Might as well take the new tech. I like that the 501p ships with DDR3L memory, which is low voltage and should improve battery life. That and the better integrated graphics are worth the extra bucks, I feel.
So the 2.2 GHz instead of the 2.4 won't be a problem?

Thinking about applying for a new laptop for work.
The offer I have has a Haswell CPU (Intel Core i7 4500U), a small SDD and a GT 750m and a full hd touch screen, but no optical drive.
So - as I will need to rebuild the whole laptop (clean setup without bloatware, tweaked for doing a large amount of statistics) when I get it to integrate it into the university network and we have Win 8 professional licences on campus now (choice, but I think I will try it) - what is the most efficient and secure way to do so?
Hey guys are the new ASUS G750 models worth getting?

I've been set back by a lot of payment for cars and housing, but hopefully the ASUS G55 gets price dropped by August ^^;
