The 2013 Formula 1 Pre-Season Thread |OT| Plenty of Time Left in the Silly Season

That drink driving bint has left Sky's F1 coverage and jumped ship to BT.

One down, Lazenby to go.

I wondered why she wasn't on the F1 show yesterday. Seems strange since she was only 'promoted' from Sky sports news to being a proper presenter last year. Maybe she realised she was wasting her time standing beside that sky pad all day.
I wish BT took Lazenby instead, at least Georgie was good at faking enthusiasm, unlike that idiot who stands round the pit lane squinting & looking bored.

Replace Damon Hill with Allan McNish full time also & Sky's team wouldn't be too bad.

Agreed, also the more and more Jonny Herbert presents the worse he seems to get. Yesterday on the F1 Show he just came out with ultra generic answers. He doesn't seem to have any specialist insight or opinions that random F1 enthusiasts couldn't give. Plus his English is shit (at least on camera)

Such a fitting end for HRT.

A Madrid-based car recycling firm has purchased five cars previously used by the now folded HRT Formula 1 team, company owner Teo Martin confirmed on Friday.

Martin has acquired three cars from 2012 and two from 2011, while the engine units used in all five have been taken back by supplier Cosworth. A third car from 2011 was bought by Pirelli, which the Italian brand has confirmed will be used as a show car.

In addition to the cars, Martin has claimed a large proportion of the team's general equipment from its headquarters - situated at the Caja Magica in Madrid. The businessman is planning to sell items to collectors who express an interest.

Who's that? I don't keep up with the British press :(

Miss SkyPad Ass or "the look of SkyF1", Georgie Thompson.

She got the habit of getting drunk behind the wheel and was banned from driving for 19 months, just before she got her job as a presenter of a racing sport.

"In September 2011, Thompson was banned from driving for 19 months, fined £1,000 and ordered to pay £100 in costs after being caught more than twice the legal limit for drunk driving."

Only on Sky.

Holy shit!

Alan Jones to return to Channel 10 Commentary!

Holy Shit!

Now if only someone can work out a cure for Alzheimer's Disease and bring Darryl Eastlake back we could get rid of Greg "I have a job!" Rust and Darryl "I really know nothing about anything on 4 wheels" Beattie.

Holy Shit!
Good googley moogley. I see he finally stopped dyeing the nine hairs on his head. And yeah, Greg Rust is atrocious. It's not just that I don't like him, he is bad at his job, starting sentences before he knows what he is going to say, recapping things that happened 30 seconds ago, blathering on about all sorts of rubbish.

She was doing racing before that. I remember she was the main host for A1GP broadcasts.

Yep, probably the only 3 worth following actually. The rest are generic PR twitter accounts.
You take that back. Webber's is kinda boring, but he does seem to make an effort from time to time. In fact, he rarely posts stuff about F1. It's more interesting as an insight into his life outside it than a constant crack-up of hilarious anecdotes or whatever.

Ah yes, sorry I forgot about Webber (how dare I?!). I would add him to that list as well.

It looks like Sky are finally breaking the HD Pack into two smaller packs. £5 will allow you to see the Entertainment & Entertainment Extra HD channels, provided that you subscribe to them. An extra £5.25 will allow you to see the Sky Sports and/or Sky Movie HD channels. Again you will need to subscribe to the relevant channels too.

In addition there are changes to who can or cannot view the F1 Channel. If you already subscribe to the HD Pack, then you will be unaffected. Any new customers will need to subscribe to the Sky Sports Pack.

On top of all this a new pack will be launched. Extra+ will allow people who do not subscribe to the Sky World Pack for the first tome to view the Sky 3D channel. This will also include a subscription to the relevant HD channels. There is also some talk that the Extra+ Pack will give you access to some other areas.

All these changes are likely to come out some time between the end of this month and May.

Sky Sports F1 will disappear in 2014 forcing everybody to subscribe to the sports pack to receive Sky Sports Speed - the new home of F1 and the WRC in the UK.

please, no one pay for sky f1, pirate the tits off it online, we need to hurt the viewing figures as much as possible so advertisers start f*cking off away from it

We all knew this was coming, no way a dedicate f1 channel would last.

In fact give it another few years & it will be change to sky sports 5 & show everything.

Aren't the UK public way ahead of us regarding that anyway?

im quite lucky in that i have free legal access to skyf1 on my 360, but of all the big group of f1 friends i have online and irl, not ONE of them paid for skysports to watch it, some just skipped sky races, most pirated it, and 1 gave up on following f1 altogether

Can I get the source for that Sky HD change please, not that I don't believe you.

Sutil confirmed to test for FI on Thursday. Looks like a shoot-out between him and Bianchi for the 2nd seat.

Just like they said they wouldn't! They've spouted pretty much an unbroken string of bullshit so far this year.

I still think it's fucking ridiculous that you can't get F1 HD on Virgin.

Have there ever been any stats on how many people watch F1 in HD on BBC and Sky? I really can't imagine it being very many.

BBC should be fairly decent figures as it's FTA.

NBC Sports needs to work on their web presence but the ad they have been showing isn't terrible. Wonder if they will get good viewing numbers though.

What is Autosport doing with some 'you have X free views in this calendar month'?

Is there some launch ceremony for the fw35? or will they just roll it out for the test? Can't find any information on the williams website other than we should follow their twitter.
