Sorta-European (Aussie, really...), though I'm not sure if it's open-diff or LSD. Looks are subjective, but I've always loved its timeless simplicity, especially modded:

It's not an ugly car, no way, it just doesn't fit my style. And the prices are just too much.

Yes of course. One of my top choices, but price is an issue (especially in my area).
