The Batman - New Trailer "The Bat and the Cat"

Nikana

Go Go Neo Rangers!
Something about this still just isn't grabbing me. It doesnt look bad by any means, it just feels like its a bit pandering after the very mixed reaction of Snyders Batman. Like how after WIndwaker was such a departure from what people "wanted/expected" for a followup from the art of OOT and MM. So they "corrected" it with Twilight Princess.

I will see it and hopefully be pleasantly surprised.

Retelling the same story again and again, trying to recreate the feelings of 15 and 30 year old movies. Isn’t it sad?

Well, if Marvel can spam 30 movies/series within just 10 years where it's all just more of the same over and over again, I think we can get a Batman movie once every couple of years as well.

No. I love seeing the different interpretations of the character and this looks like another great take. I think it's a bit too easy for people to call this a Nolan - clone, just because the trailers show off a similar sense of realism. It doesn't mean the film is going to feel like a Nolan Batman film, once you take in full.

I wouldn't mind a more fantastical take at this point, or even something inspired by Morrison's zany Batman run, but I'm more than happy with this because it seems like a strong vision and Matt Reeves has shown he is 100% passionate about sharing his take on the character. I'm very excited. Just my two cents.

Oh man, now I am really really hoping that they are not doing Telltale storyline of
Thomas Wayne as Corrupt guy in with Falcone.
Ding ding, correct. Plus Bruce and Edward being (estranged) childhood pals is a safe bet as well. There’s only so many Batman storylines out there for screenwriters to iterate on.

Nothing I've seen from this movie is doing much for me. Just looks like they're doubling-down on Nolan's style.
No doesn't seem that way going by early screenings.

Turns out this movie is exactly what I wanted for ages and that is a Batman movie that feels like a horror. Nolan's was more thriller/action.

They kind of touched on that aspect with Ben Affleck's Batman in the apartment scene in Superman vs Batman: Dawn of Justice where Batman brands the criminal. That whole setup was x1000 times fucking awesome.

It's been a few years since I've actually been out to a theater. How long before the movie releases can you find out which theaters it'll be playing at and buy tickets?

I think tickets open for this on Feb 10 but don’t quote me on that. These days, there will be news around when tickets are available for big movies, so you should probably hear something soon.

Edit: Confirmed that tickets go on sale Feb 10. At least in the US.

Btw is it just me or does half the geek community treat this film as the unwanted guest at Thanksgiving dinner.

Feels like people are giving it little elbow jabs or looking for reasons to doubt it.

I’m fine with criticism, obviously - it’s all subjective. But it’s just a general feeling I have. Idk if it’s Snyder/Affleck fans, people who hate Pattinson, the movie really just does rub people the wrong way, or if I’m just imagining it. It feels like people want to hate this thing.

There’s even several corners of YouTube, with hosts predicting this thing will do Man of Steel box office numbers and generally underperform. Sounds crazy to me.

Either way, I feel when the movie releases, there will be a lot of people begrudgingly accepting it. Anyone else feel similar?

Same reason people who didn't actually watch Spider-Man: No Way Home participated in the spoiler thread just because they watched a YouTube summary.

O please, let's not go there okay? Dunking real-world logic or zeitgeist on comic book principles is the dumbest fucking thing.

"If Bruce Wayne is so rich, why are there still poor people?"
"Why hasn't Tony Stark solved world hunger?"
"If Superman is so super, why are there still wars?"

That's so much me lol. But then again, I think the writers and directors are to blame, they are the ones who desperately try to make their movies realistic, believable, dramatic, only to fail miserably on some simple basics (mostly it's the CGI that ruins the whole impression or PG13 rating). Take Star Wars for example - "this is an army of millions of clones, and not just some clones, but clones of the deadliest bounty hunter IN THE ENTIRE GALAXY!" - 11 movies for 25h total and not a single shot was even remotely accurate, just... go fuck yourself whoever made those movies. The thing is, when your an adult who has to go to work every single day and pays for himself to watch this shit, you have all the rights to complain. That's why I love animated movies so much, they're unrealistic by design, which actually makes them so much more believable than all those "realistic" movies where even stuntmen aren't used anymore but it's all a crappy CGI. But the absolute worst is stuff like Scooby Doo, Smurfs etc., I just cannot see past those dumb actors just standing there talking to themselves, it's the ultiamte level of cringe.

God I hate that cowl so much. The weird cut, the place of the ears, the chicken neck. Terrible.
