So the Michael Brelo verdict could happen soon here in Cleveland. Brelo is a cop who jumped on the roof of a car and fired 47 shots down at the two people inside. This was the culmination of a car chase that led to a total of 127 shots fired at two unarmed black people. Brelo was the most egregious of the cops (you jumped on the roof, you idiot), so he's the one charged.

We had riots here back in the 60s and people are not happy with this and the Tamir Rice murder, so the Powers That Be are expecting something to pop off. Seeing what took place in Baltimore, they have decided to keep the schools open here, but have given the parents the option to keep their kids home with no repercussions. Frankly, there is only one week left, so no one is going to have their grades plummet due to an absence.

Was does SNL get worse everytime I decide to watch it?

Stay safe, you can tell the verdict by when they decide to announce it. If it during a normal week day morning? Guilty

Friday at 5pm, not guilty.

Stay safe out there man. Based on the bolded, I think they already know what the verdict is gonna be.

Thanks for the good wishes, fam. I've got relatives in the suburbs so at the very least, my son will get an impromptu visit with them. We'll see how this all shakes out.

That whole story is ridiculous and it's amazing how little coverage it has gotten.

The actual incident occurred in November of 2012, and they actually indicted the officer (other officers shot at the car as well, but since Brelo was all Dirty Harry about it, he's the scapegoat), so that might explain why things have been quiet news wise. Also, there have been protests but /no/ rioting.

EDIT: What Slayven said.

DOUBLE EDIT: Here's an "official" breakdown from a local news station website:

NewsNet5.com said:
On Nov. 29, 2012, Timothy Russell and Malissa Williams led Cleveland Police officers on a 23-minute high-speed chase from downtown Cleveland to East Cleveland.

The chase ended in a shooting. 137 shots were fired, killing Williams and Russell. Later, investigators learned they were unarmed.

Six officers were criminally charged. Michael Brelo faces the most serious charges: two counts of voluntary manslaughter.

Prosecutors say he jumped onto the hood of Timothy Russell's car and fired at least 15 rounds into the front windshield. Those 15 were only some of the 49 he fired at the scene. Prosecutors allege that Brelo is responsible for the fatal shots.

Can somebody explain the "Mind your own business even if its to the detriment of your friends and loved ones!" mentality comes from? I see it all the time on GAF but I've never encountered ANYONE IRL who thinks like this. Seems so alien and incompatible with the "real world" to me.

Honestly, there are a lot (a LOT) of scenarios in which I adopt a strict "mind your own goddamn business fool" policy. Like, if I see a fight break out on the street...I'm sorry, but I'm going to keep walking.

But I would never do that in a situation that could cause a dear friend or family member pain or harm.

You're talking about a group that as a whole has no idea how to interact with people. especially not through electronic means. On top of that the majority have no life experience so take their advice for what it is.

Another take is why would you listen to a group that needs to gain consensus on how to wipe their own asses.

Everyone has different concepts of boundaries in friendships. Something I would do for one person I might not necessarily do for the next. For certain people in certain situations, I absolutely would mind my own business. Or at least employ some nuance.

That's why these threads always balloon to 6 or 7 pages. These are subjective matters that have no hard and fast rule, but people discuss them as if there has to be a universally correct answer.

Yeah, I'm not going to give anyone lip if they didn't throw themselves into a fist fight (at least call the police) or in front of a speeding car. I just think of it as "would I want/realistically expect my friends to do X for me? If yes then I better be willing to do the same in return."

I certainly appreciate my time here and there are certainly ideas and perspectives as well as some raw data I would have never been exposed to if I wasn't here. On the flip side, the dumbest human beings I've ever interacted with pretty much all come from here. Humanity is weird.

Every situation requires a specific and nuanced approach, I agree. I just often find the "mind your own business" mentality found in these sorts of discussions tend to be the most dogmatic and less flexible to the situation at hand. That's my experience at least.

i can't.

i'll mind my own business vs strangers or acquaintances, even friends, but close friends and family, i gotta chime in.

it just depends on the person.

Yo, I posted this in the Luke Cage thread... but Luke Cage: Noir is so good. It's very realistic about the racial politics of the time, and super relevant to events today. That's alongside the fact that it's just so well written.

You can check it out for free using the code ULTRON on Marvel Unlimited. There were so many pages I wanted to screenshot for you guys.

Are you talking about snitching culture or something else?

Either way I agree with Trey.
Probably the guy who found his friend's gf is an escort.

I definitely will let him know. If I know his girl to recognize her in a lineup, I need to let him know. Dude recognized her and the Photoshop. So he knows her well or is a stalker.

Man, the clippers suck. Got racists happy.

If the Clipper's bench wasn't asscheeks, I think there would have been a different result in that series.

They'd still lose to GS though.

I lived in Ohio at the time it happened so I remember hearing about and always being surprised at how a story like that got no traction nationwide. It barely registered even registered inside Ohio.

Exactly. How is that even a question? If (s)he's dating someone that is DEFINITELY something (s)he should know

Someone needs to sticky this post to the top of the OT.

Also the OP wasn't 100% clear that the woman was still an escort, so some posters were responding as though the OP had discovered something in the woman's past.

The OG Mad Max movies bored me to tears, but then again the last time I watched them was on broadcast tv right after the golf that came on after cartoons.

They were really hilarious to me for some reason. Watched the new one today and it was tight. Basically entire movie was an action scene. Never thought i would not get pissed at an escort mission.

Preach! These are people who post questions about the most mundane things because they are too scared to go out and get some experience themselves. But they are giving advice? Come on.

When someone you know hates rap in general and rants about impoverished kids in rap videos who are clearly having fun and exposing those impoverished neighborhoods to the masses so they can get visibility. I just....like if you don't like or understand why...just shut up.

Kind of a weird reason to hate rap.

He said something in a interview about having had one as a child and it motivated him or something and that was part of the guys motivation to be taken seriously. Or something like that./

It still sounded unnecessary to me, even for someone who used to have a speech impediment. From all the movies he's been in, why choose this one to expose that side of his past.

Do they hate rap because they feel those impoverished kids should be working?

I have to get this off my chest and this seems like the place to do it. You guys heard about the baker gang shootout on Waco, right? Well the police there had a response of arresting 192 people, locking down the entire city, and arresting anyone on a bike that was coming into town. The spokesman then went into a long tirade when he called the bikers dangerous, violent, no regard for human life and the city wasn't going to take it anymore. A pretty strong response, right?

I see people on social media mad because he didn't specifically use the word "thug". I am trying to wrap my head around that. So he basically calls them the definition of a thug, more importantly he arrested anyone who may or may not have connection to the event, but dammit he didn't call them "Thugs"!!! I asked if anyone complaining had ever heard the spokesman speak, did he ever use the word thug before in connection to other violent attacks? The response I got was, it doesn't matter if he never has said thugs, he should have used it in the press conference.

I am cramming to understand the logic here. If the Sgt had said some crap like, "Oh this was just a few bad apples and biker gangs are just dandy in general," and let them walk, I would be pissed. But damn the police came down hard as fuck on the gangs and people are focusing on the wording of the press conference? Is this what is really important? So if he called them thugs and didn't arrest anyone, would that be fine? I just don't get it. There are plenty of injustices to get pissed about, not calling people who are in custody thugs isn't one of them, IMO.

Sorry, just had to vent somewhere about this.
