It is mind-blowing how many people just blanket assign "a culture" to an entire group of people. The funny shit is they have no idea the title of the thread is tongue in cheek.

There is no fucking black culture anymore than there is a white culture.

True, until you go on places like Tumblr or Twitter where it isn't so much tongue-in-cheek and it's taken very serious. With Tumblr completely dissing hood life. Like seriously, don't mention weave there, they think it's some sort of white wash for black women to not have natural hair or some shit like that.

This was a rather long piece trying to explain his background and environment to the point of it being written like a PR campaign. Tried a little too hard. It's OK to try to understand the accused but not like this.

With this and David Brooks' response to Ta-Nehisi Coates new book, New York Times is on a fuckery trip today.

just read that, some white people are legit shit that America isn't the land of milk and honey they been told all their lives. And refuse to empathize.

Geez. I just read it. He seems like a trip back in those times would be a better suited for him.

However, I'm glad this kind of conversation is more prevalent, even if its only in text form.

Lastly, I am surprisingly pleased with the comments sections. Recommended if curious.

I don't want to live in a world with one universal culture. It would probably be more boring than of ancient Britain. However, this is debatable because I also think language is important when it comes to ones culture.

A universal culture is simply impossible. Opinions, ideals, environments and arts are a huge part of one's culture and those are all subjective things. With that, no one could ever be in one culture unless we were some weird hive mind.

If there were a human culture, it'd be based on natural things every human does. Living and dying, eating, breathing, stuff like that I suppose.

So apparently there is a lot of racial humor in the Ant-Man movie and I'm hearing that some of it was just straight up racist.

This doesn't bode well for Black Panther...
They played up some Mexican stereotypes but there wasn't anything that made me feel uncomfortable.

From what I watched, nothing harmful or even cringe worthy. So unless someone who was really sensitive said that, I don't think anyone will be bothered by it. Where did you hear this from?

Hi everyone.

I was told in another thread that this thread and "Black Twitter" represent Black culture for all Black people, myself included.

Is there a sign in sheet or something? Secret handshake?

I posted that saying that this thread and the thing behind Black Twitter gives an idea of Black culture. Probably could've worded it a lot better but yeah.

I just see Black culture as a bunch of norms or shared experiences that people of the same ethnic group experience. The #GrowingUpBlack hastag is a really good example of this.

Also on Tumblr....idk your experience depends on who you follow. I haven't seen people shit on weave in a minute. I see more of the "Wear your hair the way you want" posts than anything.

Yeah..no. Amy Schumer didn't write the script. Were some examples given?

Oh your'e right. I just thought his comment was a terrible solution for the goal of human unity because guess what happens when a strong tribe tries to homogenize several other tribes into one by using light/heavy force...most likely there will be some kind of opposition to it.

There was a joke I saw on the internet somewhere about a possible huge fence to keep mexicans away from the southern border. But then people would realize that it would be Mexicans who would be building that fence.

We were opening up shop today and a black guy comes to the office and greets my boss. He says, "I think I spoke to you on the phone yesterday. We spoke about getting work done on my old bike?"

My boss, a white guy, goes, "I don't think we did speak. Unless you are trying to say that all White people talk the same."

The guy instantly starts shaking his head and saying no but I give the black dude the ghetto point like this

And said, "They do talk the same though, stop playing."

😂👌 We all had a good laugh.

I was fortunate enough to meet Michelle Obama 2 years ago when she spoke in Philly.

Even now that the hype is died down, I can say that Michelle is one of the most charming, elegant, and intelligent people I've been around in person. Just an all-around class act, the very definition of First Lady, and of course gorgeous.

It hurts to see all this complete and total bullshit about her appearance getting blown up in the media, because she shouldn't have to see this. She shouldn't have to see bullshit like this about her and her daughters. It's not part of the job.

The thing that trips me out is no other first lady has gotten nowhere near much criticism due to her looks even though she is pretty much the prettiest among all of them.
