They're on a few levels up, getting violent with the Islamophobia. The" Islamification of Europe" is a fear that is gaining tremendous movement and is pretty much unchecked, especially now with the massive migration happening. Shit is going to get really ugly, really fast.

I've read the comic spoiler and for clarity for comic readers, his "death" in the show last night is no where near what happened in the comics. In the episode, he and another "annoying" character are on top of a dumpster surrounded by walkers and the other character decides to shoot himself in the head and kill himself (I believe this is an original character and not someone from the comics). After shooting himself, the character falls onto Glenn and the both of them fall off of the dumpster into the group of walkers. We then see a quick shot of what looks like Glenn's stomach being eaten before switching scenes, but this could actually be the other character being eaten on top of Glenn by the way the camera is framed. So many are speculating Glenn will escape this way, but this would still be really ridiculous due to the number of walkers in the scene (it's like a crowd at a concert).

Compare Europe to like 20+ mini-USAs, each with their own history, shady politicians, propaganda and prejudices from several (internal and external) wars and i think you'll have a more clearer picture of how it is here.

And yes, there's lot of idiots in Europe downplaying the state of islamophobia around here, just like there are many idiots on the US saying that racism is over.
