The least popular FF is the most recent FF.
7 was hated for Aerith and basically being 6

8 was hated on for having a dour lead.
9 was hated for being too retro and having too chipper a MC
10 was hated for not having a world map and "bad" voice acting
12 was hated for auto battle
13 was hated for linearity and misogyny
15 is probably gonna get flak for story and being to dudebro. Or maybe the super transmedia push.
7R is going to get flak for not being FF7 in HD.

Meanwhile, I will be ignoring the flaws and enjoying the game for what it is since my personal self worth doesn't hinge on the reception of media I had no hand in creating.

Personally, I don't know of a more hyped game than FFXV. It's been years.
