The E3 '08 Sony Prediction and Discussion Thread

Give it up Kagari. :(

The best we could hope for is a public release of trailers already shown. Both of which I have in HD on my PS3 hard drive.
They'll probably show the latest "FOR PS3 ONLY" trailers that were previously only shown so far in the closed megatheater 3;

what's going on this year.. there hasn't been any real leaks... should I be prepared to be disappointed or excited?

guess I can not think about e3 and look forward to playing all my old games in hd on my new tv thursday!!! (please hurry with Uncharted/MGS trophies!!)

see I know Sony has alot more going on then what we know, I just have a gut feeling and thats not from the Milk I had earlier.

Details on the Last Guy being shown today and more news on PJ Eden and hopefully a Wipeout HD release date makes me really excited for any surprises that Sony might have in store.

The Last Guy sounds like one of those really creative and incredibly rare new ideas. So many interesting games coming for PS3. It's hard not to be excited. They just need to get the damn things out.

Wait, how do we know that FF13 isn't going to make an appearance, Tanod?

As far as I'm aware, there has been no confirmation either way. I suppose it's good to temper your expectations, but Square did make an announcement earlier this year that we'd be seeing a lot more of FF13 soon. My guess is either E3 or TGS...if not both.

well FFXIII has been confirmed as not being on the showfloor in either video or playable form
so the chance is slim

Because Square has its own party in a month dedicated to Nomura's babies. You don't see Dissidia, the KHs on SE's list either. Then there's also Sony Premiere event in Japan. Most of their JPN 3rd party games will probably be there instead of E3 (Yakuza 3 is a safe bet).

Just trying to keep my expectations low though, and maybe i'll be pleasantly surprised.

It would be absolutely ridiculous to me if they do not release a trailer of some sort for FF13...absolutely boggles the mind why it would not be there at E3.

Heavy Rain.

Seems like it more and more every time I hear about it, and it may as well be true. I firmly believe HR will push the envelope in terms of graphics, animation (specifically facial animation) and story.

Still doesn't make any sense given Darren Waters' wording in the article though.

It can't be heavy rain. The BBC reporter said it was an unannounced title, and that when he mentioned it to a Sony exec, the exec reacted by saying something along the lines of, "How do you know about that? 0_o"

I am hoping that whatever it is gets shown off in all it's glory at E3, and that it is playable, will release in '09, and is an action/adventure title of some sort. No more shooters please.

Unless they're like Uncharted, but with less shooting and more exploring. :P

Dear Kojima,

Metal Gear Solid 4 is out, get fucking cracking on the more important Zone of the fucking Enders 3 please.

I want to see PS3 price drop/new model (dream).
KH3
New Jak D:
GoW 3
New PSN Stuff

w/e I'll get a PS3 this year with a price drop. I'm expecting good shit from Sony thiss year at E3 though.

No idea what this page is saying,
http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/game/docs/20080710/lbp.htm
but it did come with 2 cute new screens of LBP though.

Ahhh, the "it ain't HR" party has arrived. :lol

I really don't know what to make of it. I saw some people (RiotPelaaja for example iirc) saying it was HR, then there's a lot of people who say it isn't. To me, the wording in the article suggests it wasn't, HR had been openly discussed by David Cage at the time, the title was well known.

Anyway, c'mon people, this is GAF! Is HR the BBC mystery game or not? We should be able to ascertain the truth from our collective pool of knowledge. :D

I say it isn't HR.

For/Against? lulz

Then what the hell is it?

GAF SPECULATE!

It's my understanding that it's an as yet unannounced title from SCEE.

My reasoning for this is I was told a Heavy Rain trailer wasn't even circling internally at Sony at the time of the blog's writing, but somehow people still assume that this is what the BBC guy watched.

I think people assume that me (and some others) are knocking Heavy Rain by saying this. I'm not. HR will be breathtaking I'm sure.

So much so I think that HR might just take the 'best GFX' nod from E3 this year.

The current thinking about the game featured in this now infamous blog post are.....

Sony Liverpool's third person action/adventure title.

Sony London's super duper secret FPS.

Or realistically speaking.............neither of those things. :p

Bring on E3!!!!!

Wasn't it that Linger in Shadows thingy?

nope

didnt they describe it as having 'unmatched immersion and storytelling' or something along those lines? doesnt sound like an FPS
well they've definately managed to have people speculating about it a lot, i hope they do actually reveal it

Sin, do you know if FFXIII will be there at all, in any form be it behind closed doors at SE's booth, or in Sony's conference?

Sorry, I haven't checked this thread in a while. I still don't have confirmation on FFXIII presence at E3 although this morning I got a phone call from an acquaintance of mine who has seen it and all he would say is 'WOW'.

Something else I heard this morning is PSP-3000 for October.

Wat?! PSP-3000? I wondering what's new feature will be on this psp. Maybe code name for PSP Phone?

A PSP phone at this point is a case of when rather than if.

I wonder if this PSP 3000 could be related to the endless rumours of a PSP with flash memory built in? With the PSN video marketplace.....thing likely to be unveiled at E3 is would certainly make sense.

well if they are showing the psp3000 does that mean they are actually going to start getting more games for it?

The upcoming list of games on the psp is pretty barren. I'm getting close to clearing out my psp backlog and i love the system, the support just seems to be not there lately.

Ugh... I want a new and improved PSP, but I sure as hell don't want it tied to a cellular contract.

As for E3, its starting to sound like Sony will show a lot of previously unannounced titles. Am I right in saying this? If so, what about the shitton of announced titles we haven't seen much of yet? I'm talking about Infamous, God of War 3, Heavy Rain, hell even Killzone2. Epic press conference confirmed?

Phil Harrison will kill every single Atari employee, so that he may once again, attain his high rank in the entity of Sony...

Holding their mutilated heads ,he will swear his Allegiance to Kaz Hirai, proving his return...

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but popular/influential side buzzfeed.com linked to a bunch of Little Big Planet stuff yesterday. They rarely have gaming stuff on there - only the stuff that sorta' crosses over a bit i.e. GTA4, Wii Fit etc.

http://www.buzzfeed.com/peggy/little-big-planet

Anyway, suggests that maybe this game will have some mainstream appeal.
