The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim |OT2| Team Edward's Revenge

Question. I am 63 in destruction magic and use the flame spell with a sword or dagger. Issue is, the flame spell sucks now, and barely eats away at their heath. I have upgraded it once, but you can't upgrade it again. Is it time to look for a new spell? I have adept level unlocked but have never seen any adept spells...

What kind of flame spell are you using? There's flame, fireball, firebolt and incinerate. Definitely go try find the new spells, I bought them off the mages in the college

I have been using flames the entire game basically. I'm level 33 overall.

Just got to the college for the first time though, maybe I can find stuff here. I'll try electricity too.

Yea I suggest grabbing them all, they are useful in different situations. Once you level enchanting as well, you can make your destruction spells cost 0 magicka. 4 pieces of armor, each with -25% destruction magic use is godly :D I spam Inferno like no tomorrow :D

But yea, Conjuration is still my bread and butter. @ 100, 2 Dremora Lord tanking for me is just plain unfair haha

Thank god for the new patch. Was stuck on a quest in story and the civil war line and couldn't advance, luckily it was fixed and zipped right through today. Yay.

Just finished my last final tonight and treated myself with this game for 360

Can't wait to get into it, I've heard nothing but good things and I really liked Oblivion.

Just downloaded a patch for the 360, hope it doesn't screw anything up :/

Some of you may have followed what's been happening to Louis Letrush in my Skyrim. He's been multiplying, see. First there were only 2.5 Letrushes.

I had this theory about what was happening. It wasn't that a new fully formed Letrush was appearing around the rest of them. Rather, new Louis Letrushs were growing out of the ground, and I was just catching each new one half-formed as they sprouted.

I was comfortable with this theory all the way through 6.5 Letrushs. And then, everything changed a few nights ago.

Not far from Windhelm, as I was dungeon scouting in a blizzard, I spotted two forms engaged in battle. As I approached, one fell, and the survivor unwisely turned on me. After I was through with him, I turned to loot the guy he felled.

Zounds!

IMG_6213.jpg

It was Louis Letrush! What was he - or one of him - doing up near Windhelm of all places? That's a long ways from Whiterun. I got to wondering - did one of them wander off? I mount Shadowmere, my trusty steed, and we beat a hasty path to Whiterun.

Nope, all 6.5 Letrushs are accounted for. But this even threw my theory of the sprouting Letrushs out the window. My new theory is that Letrushs are actually a race of peoples, and they are gathering, for some reason, in Whiterun. Perhaps there would be more?

Last night, I got confirmation. Northwest of Riften in the woods was the setting, at midday. I saw two figures, one cowering and the other holding a mighty axe. As I approached it was clear the latter was a well-armored orc. I heard him say, "You've gone far enough, Letrush!"

Louis tried to plead and reason with him, but the orc was having none of it, and attacked. I stepped between them and took the blow, and tried to take the orc down before he could fell Louis. Alas, Louis tried to be brave and charged the orc with his lowly iron dagger, and was dropped by a single overhead blow of the axe. I avenged his death and confirmed his ID.

IMG_6227.jpg

What I heard before the fight once again rattled my theory of Letrush. This orc knew him, and Letrush was fearful of the orc. Then and there I realized there is a secret war going on in Skyrim - a war of the Letrushs against their arch nemesis, the orcs. The Letrushs are few and scattered, but are mustering their few remaining kin around the safety of Whiterun. A Council of Letrushs, or perhaps a Letrush Moot.

Yes, a Letrush Moot. As the Ents of Middle-Earth did, so too must the Letrushs, to determine whether they would fight or continue to be whittled down by time and axe.

And then came tonight.

Tonight I've been clearing Misc. tasks from my queue, activiating all but the glitched ones (five of those) and working my way through Skyrim on foot, completing them. It was just south of Winterhold (where I was asked to steal a staff for someone in the Jarl's palace) that I spotted Louis Letrush, this time running on the road. He had little to say, but he was in a hurry and heading south. I quickly became his shadow, and followed.

I was his escort and protector, felling mighty frostbite spiders, a ferocious fox (?!) that attacked, and many bandits on the road. All were after Louis.

But none charged him harder than an orc, who stepped out from behind some trees along the roadside southwest of Windhelm. This orc was using his fists to attack Louis, and this time, with the help of Unrelenting Force, I was able to protect him.

My theory was now cemented - the orc and the Letrushs are at war.

I followed Louis as he went south, where he finally turned west near the Throat of the World. We continued on our way.

IMG_6228.jpg

Along the riverside path we went, widing west toward...Whiterun.

IMG_6229.jpg

At long last, Louis Letrush was reunited with his kin, the Letrushs. It was an emotional scene.

IMG_6230.jpg

And little Letrush gone grown up while we were on our way. I now have eight fully grown Louis Letrushs outside of Whiterun, including the one I escorted from Wiinterhold.

My mission is now clear: to scour the roads of Skyrim for Letrushs, and escort them safely to the Letrush Moot. When their numbers are great enough, they will have their Moot, and it will be a mighty one indeed. I suspect they will elect to go on the attack, perhaps assaulting the orcs at some of their fortresses in the mountains. When they do, I will be at their side.

LOL that's awesome Ghaleon.

Was doing a quest with a follower called Illia. She one-shotted poor Yamarz right where it hurts most.

Going home for Christmas in a week. Leaving my stationary PC behind and tranferring saves to my laptop for the 8 hour long train trip home.
PC gaming on a train can be hard though so connected my PS3 controller to my laptop yesterday and emulated it to a 360 controller.

My laptop is ready!

Is there a reason why a random dark elf would attack me on my traveling? He just run up to me and started punching me with his fists (he wears a gauntlet), he's all like "yeaaaah! I can take on you!"

I decided to make a destruction mage and went straight for the College. So far my destruction is at 38 after a few hours and... is it conceivable to only use magic as offense so early on? With the way I was getting raped by mages on master I thought it'd be a lot more powerful.

Mostly using lightning so far.

Why are fire and ice mages always fighting each other in the wilderness? Its like they're just walking along, stop to chitchat about magic and shit talk about stupid Nords when they realize what sort of magic the other practices and start slinging spells.

So, does anyone do the sneaky type missions without swinging a weapon at guards? I made it through "diplomatic immunity" without alerting anyone, but I had to use 2 invisibility potions. Now I'm on a quest for the Thieves guild(the one in Markath with the wizard) and it's just a labyrinth of an area teeming with patrols.

So i went to Windhelm's palace for the 1st time since i
killed Ulfric and his assistant
. Didn't know that some many Jarls were hanging there now. But the funny part is that the
bodies of Ulfric and his assistant are still on the floor of the main room of the palace...
while all the other Jarls are having dinner together. They don't seem to care at all about this, i even had the Riften's Jarl walking around the room,
getting near to Ulfric's body
and going "Oh. What happened?"

Well
he died 2 weeks ago and you were having dinner right next to his body all that time,
that's what happened you idiot!

I'm currently collecting mats to make invisibility potions for that quest. If it was all Mercs, I'd just kill everybody, but there are city guards mixed in there.

It's crazy how pickpocket is easy to lvl, just grab some gloves and ring with +% pickpocket, grab 1 ring/necklace or 2 from someone with 70-90% chance to steal, and +1 pickpocket skill already! Makes it easy to lvl up when you are high lvl.

Did that quest last night as well. It didn't go as well as I had hoped.

It could be my imagination, but after installing the game to my HDD last night, and installing the patch, it seems to be playing better. Frame rates have smoothed out some, and I played for about three hours without a crash. Previously, I had started to crash about one or twice during that same time period.

I'm experiencing the opposite. Crashed once or twice in 70 hours pre-patch before installing. Yesterday, crashed twice in less than 30 minutes with latest patch and installing. Framerate does seem smoother though.

Im' having a hard time defeating Morokei at the end of the Staff of Magnus mission. Dude is absolutely destroying me. Not sure what to do. :/

Edit: Haha, nevermind. On my 5th attempt I got him in a position where I cheesed him with 80ish arrows and he just stood there and didn't fight back. I'll take it!!

I'm playing in master and the game feels a bit too easy at lvl42. I suppose I could use a weaker bow.. I didn't even broke the game with that enchanting/alchemy trick thing so I can't imagine how boring it is when you're using a weapon that does 500 dmg.

I ran into a strange situation where I had gotten into the Dwemer museum, then into the wizard's area, and this stupid Stormcloak Guard would spot me and then arrest me for a stupid 5g bounty. The wizard's guards simply went hostile so I could kill them with impunity (and no bounty).

I eventually gave up and murdalized the damn guard that kept spotting me.

I was able to complete the rest of the area without any issue.

So any caveats with the new patch or should I go ahead and install it? I didn't install patch 1.2 and am still playing off of the disc.

So...returning the Theives Guild is a pain in the ass...why can't I fast travel out of the guild? Nope...load two times to exit, one time to travel, one time to enter objective, 1 time to exit, one time to travel back and twice more to get back to the job start...a total of 8 loading screens to take care of a 2 minute job...that you apparently have to do 30 of...seriously?

When I was doing that mission last night, I had no idea that the guards would attack me when I wandered out of the museum and into the research area. Up until that point, I hadn't seen any guards and no one warned me to keep to the museum itself. When I did go beyond that point, I was looking at various items, not really all that concerned about what was going on, when I heard a voice in the distance say something like "Help! Intruder!"

I had no idea they were referring to me, so when I saw a figure running through the area, but not at me, I assumed this was part of the quest, and went after him and killed him. It wasn't until after I was finishing looting the body (good gold on those guys!) that I realized I was the intruder and I had just killed one of the guards. After that, it was on, and I just ended up going through the rest of the way Rambo style. It wasn't pretty, but it got the job done.

I also appreciated that when you got to the goal in there, that they didn't hold your hand on what to do next. It was easy to figure out, considering the items that were sitting around the room, but I liked that it didn't say "Now use item x, y, and z to finish up."

I actually have been shocked by some of the YouTube videos I've seen. The console versions have horrible load times, but I've also seen PC videos with horrible load times. But somehow the loading screens are so short for me (PC version, max settings) I can barely read the occasional bits of story.

Well...the doors dont take long...5-10 seconds, but the distance travel takes about 20 seconds. If you add it all up you basically spend more time loading than doing the jobs themselves. That and 30 jobs seriously? On top of all that I have already done for them...ugh.

I did that fight last night too, was damn hard. I love this game, but big boss fights are just a pain in the ass. Damage sponges that kill in three hits are not fun to fight, especially when the combat can be so imprecise. Still, the loot was bonerific.

Is destruction/illusion a good combo? Without sneak bonuses on magic it seems like a but of a waste.

Either that or I'll be doing a bit of necromancy which I've discovered is pretty fucking sweet.

The Thieves Guild design drives me insane too. There are two entrances, and you have to go through two loading bridges no matter which you take in order to get back to the quest givers. Why on earth is the Cistern its own, second loading area? The game handles large towns and dungeon areas in a single space, but it can't handle a small area with a handful of people attached to the rest of the Ratway?

I've wondered about this with the way they've broken up other areas as well. The Thieves Guild stands out, because you have to do it so often, but there are some dungeons and other areas that are similar.

Also, going to the Mage College and entering my Arch Mage quarters, I have to load up the Hall of Elements, or what ever its called, and then immediately load again to enter my quarters or the library. Annoying.

I didn't kill anyone in that quest, except for the first merc you meet. Without any potions or spells.

I think I'm done with my first playthrough. Took me 65 hours, kind of regret using fast travel like I did.
I've done :

-Main quest
-Companion quests
-College of Winterhold
-Something like 10 daedric quests
-Shitload of normal/misc quests

I wish the game had more "normal" quests. Because right now I don't have anything left to do. I don't want to do the Dark Brotherhood/Thieves Guild quests with a warrior-mage character. And my build kind of sucked, at the end destruction magic was really weak for some reason, but it was still fun until that point.

I'll wait for more patches/content/mods to start a new character, probably stealth/archer.

What do yo guys except for the add-on ? I'd like something original like Shivering Isles.

Because Destruction doesn't scale at all in terms of damage. There are a few one-off increases in damage when you get a new spell, or add a perk, but that's it. Once you get to a certain point you will never ever hit any harder. And that extra damage is something you have to pay for with the increased Magicka cost of spells.

Compare that to melee weapons or bows which cause your damage to increase directly as your skill increases, you can increase the damage much higher with perks (+100% with 5 perks verses +50% in Fire/Frost/Shock with 6 perks), you can add +damage enchantments to gear, and you can improve weapons further with Smithing. Plus you can constantly perform normal attacks with no stamina, and the cost of power attacks is the same with a crappy weapon as it is with a badass Daedric Sword of Infinite Win.

It's one of the major balancing fuckups in the game.

You can always do the quest to eliminate the Dark Brotherhood with your main and use your future stealth character for the DB quest line.
