What a fucking episode. Eros Station is fucked. Julie's dad is fucking evil. We finally got to see what happened to her. Though I don't know how initially she got the protomolecule on her. Amos is a fucking sociopath and Miller is fucking unhinged. I felt bad for Naomi when she couldn't save that Belter girl.

I'm down for an off season thread. I just picked up Leviathan Wakes. My plan is to read that, then wait for season 2. I was considering just binging the books, but I really enjoyed not knowing what was going to happen in the show.

I seriously hope things don't turn toward the supernatural. What I enjoyed here was the straight-faced science fiction aspect. That ship's a ship. And that's just his pilot. And what's at stake here isn't the supremacy of good or evil. There's no engagement with the beyond.
I'm fine with just sticking in this thread since it's not like we get a lot of traffic. lol. Just change the thread subtitle.
For those interested in the books: I suggest reading the prequel novellas Drive, The Butcher of Anderson Station, and The Churn. And then giving Leviathan Wakes a go if you can't wait for next season (since book 1 has not been entirely covered in season 1).
Is season 2 planned to go beyond LW? I would love to read it just to get a little more closure on everything, but not if its going to spoil all of the second season.
I've only seen one episode, but with no prior knowledge of the book series I was hooked. Frankly, I'm surprised the show initially reviewed so poorly. The production values and design are absolutely phenomenal, and while the characters aren't quite there yet, the acting seems solid and professional compared with your typical space show and it is all underlined by an intriguing and complex universe. Much better than the Defiance pilot, for instance, and I (eventually) loved that show.
It's definitely not BSG, but not everything has to be.
The world building works well initially, and the plot picks up momentum as the season continues. If you liked the pilot, you'll enjoy the rest of the season.

Season 1 only covers like.. 60~70%(?) of the first book with a sprinkling of book 2 stuff (Avasarala's scenes). So, season 2 will be finishing up LW and presumably go into Caliban's War (book 2).
The Expanse had a doubly difficult job to do. It had to adapt a book to televisionnot always an easy taskand it was based around a mystery plot. Mystery plots can go very wrong, if things get drawn out to the point where its clear that the writers dont know any more than the fans. In The Expanses case, they have a roadmap from the books. But any changes they make to the story also mean some changes to the mystery, which they could then lose a grip on.
It is to this shows eternal credit that they managed to do both of these things in a compelling and brilliant fashion.
The drunk asteroid's miner who kamikazed on the space cops and abandoned is nephew (son ?) in space was never mentionned again... Did he have any importance to the plot that I missed ?

Nice title change! Why so Ceres? Was just an impulse choice to get the OT up, this relates to the show much better
If we keep this thread I can refresh the OT to include some of the new reviews, streaming locations, new SyFy media, etc for any newcomers. Anyone that wants dibs on OT for S2 feel free to speak up or we can collab (I realize it's pretty far away).
Finished the last episode last night. Loved the show, I hadn't read the books so I had no idea where it was going. Also, loved what happened to Adam Jensen. Looking forward to season two.
Just watched the finale. Really enjoyed this season. Slow in places but it came together nicely. I plan on reading Leviathan Wakes before s2 starts up.

Really neat interview with Tim Warnock and Ryan Denning of Blue North studios who did a lot of the concept art of the show. Some great concept art pieces in there as well.

I am a terrible boyfriendo, so I watched Ep9 before my girlfriend could catch up with me. I'm going to wait for the finale, but I really enjoyed what I saw. The body horror was great and the cliffhanger at the end didn't feel forced at all, unlike most.
Also, this show continues to shock me with its attention to detail. Look at the bullets and the "built in Tycho station" markings.
Very impressive stuff. I don't know what kind of money is SyFy betting on it, but props are really nicely made, regardless of the odd PC controller here and there.
That was a hell of a finale. Excellent ending to the season, perfect place to wrap up all the separate plot lines but still leave some mystery for next year. It's going to make for some great binge watching for those that want to catch up. I'll probably give it a good marathon watch before the beginning of next season.
Amos had some great lines but the banter between Miller and Holden was awesome too. The Anubis boarding ship was really awesome in the beginning and in general the CGI was incredibly well done for this episode. Poor Julie too, they really messed her up.
Glad they didn't go with the, LW Spoilers,
vomit zombies
. I don't think it was necessary and isn't important enough to move the plot along. The entire Eros incident was a much smaller scale than I imagined but I actually think it flowed much better by having them showing it as an experiment in parallel. It hit home a little bit harder how F'd up it all was. The ending where the construction equipment (I think) grabbed the spy. LW Spoilers
was that Eros or do we think they were controlling those remotely
.
Speaking of iPad's and gaming mice. They straight up dropped two of these into the 'casino' set haha
I'll probably finish book 1 and deal with a few extra spoilers. I don't think I'll be able to just leave it 3/4 of the way through. Where can I get my hands on those novellas? Are they free?
EDIT: Didn't realize the above (book spoilers) notice might not be enough. So yeah, spoilers for things in season 2.
Didn't that happen later? I might remember it wrong, but I think they went back on Eros after it started moving and that was when Miller was absorbed by protomolecule?

Not a real quote from AnnTiPa! Have you read the books? The season is over so there's nothing left to spoil unless it was in a book. So don't click on this shit unless you've read the books!

Do you want an actual answer for that? This will answer your question without actually spoiling anything specific:
You will not like what's coming. There will be mystery and unexplainable things, at least as far as (in the show) current human understanding of physics goes. Yes, there will be engaging with the beyond. That's what the name of the show means.
