The Final Bosman Show

Is this how every GT show is going to be from now on? It makes it seem like they're operating on a shoestring budget.

Yeah, I get the feeling that they are not pulling in the ad revenue that they once were. Their viewer count is generally under 50k for most videos, which does not bode well for them when they are a fully staffed company. Some of the higher profile independent youtubers can get over 500k views in less than a couple days.

So... I don't really care for this back and forth between two people. Feels quite shallow and they don't really say anything I haven't heard before.

Oh well, at least there's 100+ episodes to look back on.

Yeah, unfortunately, the kid market on YouTube is huge. When Smosh shares the same office as them and does ridiculous numbers, its not hard to see why Defy have them cut down. It sucks though as they're still the best.

I almost wish they'd do a subscription model. I think enough of us like it that we'd pay for some sort of benefit without the Twitch sub overhead and that's not something I can sub for anyway since I'm sleeping while they stream.

I do like GT Time and Bosman. But they really could use a little more variety in their weekly shows. Probably not going to happen though.

Not a fan of Huber yelling at you every Tuesday? I get what you're saying though. They've basically now got a room and that's about it, so I can't see it happening either.

I love Huber's enthusiasm. Not a huge fan of the yelling at the screen thing. Sorry Huber. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Also, Final Bets is one of the greatest things on GT. I hope they never give that up.

They'll still do it but instead of making bets and asking staff it'll just be Huber and Bosman on the set talking about what they think will happen at E3 or wherever.

I think Kyle underestimates how many unemployed people/college students watched that show if he thinks no one watched the conference lmao

I couldn't tell if the audio was out of sync during the intro and post credit or if it was just my player.

Great Episode. I really like the old Bosman Flavor. That button bonus bit was also very good.

And that episode was perfect for me. I really missed like everything about TGS. I just red the news briefly. Now I know what was going on.

I loved that episode. I'm OK with the format he has right now but it's definitely inidicative of the struggles GT is pulling right now. I wish there was something we could do to help but I unfortunately I don't have any money to donate or even afford a subscription model as someone suggested earlier. Maybe Defy could do some sort of synergistic mish mashing of their cast from Smosh Games or any other of their subsidiaries to GT so that some of the viewers may be enticed to click on over.

Well since the GT thread is in community now, I'm going to look at doing some GT Time threads each Friday and see what happens there.

But I've said before in there too, I wouldn't mind if they had some kind of subscription if they could pull it off. Kids rule YouTube, it's why Smosh kills them in views.

very true, I would pay for better content on GT. I'm sad to see them in this kind of precarious situation where Bosman doesn't even have a good space for his show

I don't want to drive any kind of hate or anything, but comparing to smosh, these guys are quite ahead in their game talking, smosh is way too kiddish to me. Unfortunately, that seems to be what is selling on youtube these days

The Thing with Metal Gear Solid V

Loved the intro and the bonus bit. I expected more arguments as to why MGSV has problems, but oh well, it was a nice episode. Excited for chapter 2.

Good ep. I don't even care about MGS (shoot me, GAF), but he is so engaging when expressing his opinions.
Idonotseetheresemblance.gif needs to happen for future use in every downgradegate thread. That cracked me up.

no spoilers, I guess?

Only if you consider that the number of chapter a game has is a spoiler.

OMG, I loved this episode too much...

it has everything I loved and missed about TFB from months ago.

he is right about some of the criticism about this game, specially about the chapter thing, and some unfinished things, but I still think he has serious personal issues with the game that cannot be applied for everyone..

I still dearly love the game... even with the ridiculous rain cutscene

That bonus bit was the best, LMAO.

But one thing he got wrong, it's not clear in the game but those missions aren't mandatory, you can finish the game without completing them.

you could say it's kinda there, only the story important missions are marked with the yellow dot, and those aren't

They should've just put those extra missions after the real ending and called Chapter 2 the Epilogue instead. Would've avoided so much hand wringing over such a great game.

I agree with Bosman in essence, except I think that even chapter 1 is chock-full of filler.

"Boss, go rescue this guy."

"Boss, go blow up those tanks."

"Boss, go kill this guy."

I have trouble remembering what I'm even doing in a mission half the time. Whereas in previous Metal Gears I always felt like I was doing something meaningful.

That's definitely a big flaw with MGSV, but I wish it wasn't defining the game for people. There is still so much amazing gameplay in that game that elevates it beyond its flaws.

Some need a purpose and a good sense of story progression to fully appreciate the game. The gameplay is great but the game's story, pace, content, and world are all lackluster so I can't give this game a high rating. For me personally story/world usually outweighs gameplay.

For the briefest of times, it does elevate you to that point when everything is going down, but then it just ends two thirds in, and drops you down into a pool of nothing BUT those flaws. Thats what you're left looking at, thats the taste you're left with for hours afterwards.

Interested to hear if this hurts Kyle way more than Wind Waker. Wind Waker at least had a pretty neatly tied up ending.

Besides sniping quiet, there's been almost no memorable missions in MGS5 so far, they're usually side missions with more codecs involved and it doesn't look like its getting much better at mission 18.

I mean, absolutely. I feel the same way as Kyle though.

MGS5: GOTY, 10/10, almost everything could have been handled better.

Iirc, I'm a bit into chapter 2 myself, there's very little of that in the actual story, and if there is, it's usually justified with dialog :) The side-ops though, they're clearly filler, pretty much every single one of the 157 available. But gosh darnit if they aren't a ton of fun anyways :D 78 hours and counting and far from bored myself ^^

I wholeheartedly agree! Unfortunately there are a lot of people that have played it, loved it at one point, but now suddenly hate it. Some have even gone as far to say that the game was dull, repetitive, lacked personality, and doing nothing new for open-world games. While the final product has unfortunately been affected by the whole Kojima + Konami fiasco in several ways, the final product IS still full of great things. With all of the unnecessary negativity revolving around the game as of late, it's wonderful knowing there are people that feel the same way about V that I do.

The game has a shit ton of problem and is still literall the best game I have ever played in terms of gameplay. It really could have been the best game ever made if the story was worked out

Mmm hmm, honestly it could possibly be my GOTY just by gameplay alone. I can't remember the last time a single player experience was this hard to put down for me. I can't help but imagine MGO will add even more to that. (Hopefully.)

MGS5's gameplay is flawless, but it has too many niggling issues for me to ignore. Helicopter takes way too fucking long to arrive (unless you pay GMP out the ass for it). You should be able to spawn on the ground at any non-dangerous LZ after selecting a mission or side-op (the load screen + helicopter ride into an area is longer than Bloodborne's pre-patch load times, for reference). You should be able to fast travel to any non-dangerous LZ while in the open world. Build times for items should not exceed ~30 minutes. etc etc

Currently my number 2 of the year after Bloodborne.

I just developed a nuke and the timer is 24 fucking hours (realtime). FOB expansion 8 hours (realtime). It's goddamn ridiculous.

It's bullshit like that that seriously devalues the game to me.

I mean, you can. You just need to use the parcel system.

Also using the "return to ACC" option in the hard menu is something that people need to realize is a thing that doesn't hold a penalty, as long as you've saved/checkpointed.

It truly is an unfinished symphony.
