Meh. That was pretty much exactly what you could expect from character like Barry. People do get cheesy in real life from time to time.

It might be easier to excuse as "Barry cheese" if there weren't 20 other shitty lines in the episode, or if there wasn't a very similar line from Oliver in the pilot. It's just bad dialogue.

Meh, I think you're overreacting. Most of the dialogue is fine and most of all, even weaker lines are managed to be sold convicinly. And Oliver doing the cheese is weird, but Barry can do cheese as much as he wants to .

I agree. I think it makes sense now for him to be leaner since he's just starting, but he should show signs of his physical strength growing too.

Plus, y'know, I just want to look at him. :3
Glucose fuels muscle tissue and we've just seen how quickly Barry burns through it. The Flash looking like a body builder isn't going to happen (or at least shouldn't).

I'm glad the melodrama between Joe and Barry seems to be eliminated this early, tv-shows always get better when the main characters stop worrying and just goes with the flow - he's a superhero, now go do superhero stuff!
Now he just needs to tell Iris as well so we dont get the Spider-Man/Superman cliches again.

The flashbacks are not good btw. The kid actor is terrible. No more of that please.

lol..funny thing, the actor who will be playin the
Mist metahuman
in episode 3 on Flash will also be playing Victor Zsasz on Gotham :D

I can't get past the dopey look the kid has about him and he doesn't even remotely look like grown up Barry. I think we're stuck with him for as long as they do the flash backs. Hope they're a lot more limited than Arrow's though.

I really liked this episode. Events happened so fast, and episode "felt" like it was much longer, new segments just kept on rolling in. Special effects of "fast combat" were very well done.

CW is knocking it out of the park, can't wait to see first crossovers with Arrow. :D

Fun episode.

The glucose thing will probably never come up again, it was just an easy way to show "growing pains".

I don't expect him to be Amell levels of buff, but some more muscle mass would help sell his superhero status. We don't need a reason other than it's for TV and sex sells.

You know that new hunky fella in Sleepy Hollow was one of the finalists to play Barry? What might have been, eh?

Yeah, I think I was at around the 26 minute mark checking the time because I thought the episode was nearly done with how much that had already been covered.

I wonder how we're going to be handling the cross-over, I mean obviously covering most of the Flash side here and the Arrow side on that OT but that seems like it'd be a pain since it's going to be so tied together. I guess there should just be an expectation for that episode that everyone has already watched The Flash episode at least when it goes to the Arrow side of things.

Barry super speed salmon ladder sounds like something that should happen.

Does anyone know if Wally has been cast?

Not yet and I'd be surprised if they introduced him so soon but they're only filming episode nine with 13/14 left. Wally should be like around 10 (maybe a little younger) at this point I think.

Yeah, I remember. Matt Barr is ridiculously sexy. I'm glad he's on Sleepy Hollow though, that show needed some beef. (Tom is lovely, but he doesn't really get a chance to be "sexy".) And you can only creep on the headless horseman's bangin' body so long without feeling super weird. XD

And I've got no qualms with Grant Gustin. He's very handsome, and I think he's doing an amazing job. I just would like to see him increase his protein intake a smidge. ;)

I'm ready.

Special new thread?

I mean Marvel comic-book events get their own threads, and Arrow/Flash are watched by millions more people than the comics could ever dream of.

Great episode IMO.
I enjoyed every bit of it.

I'm really glad I don't get botherd by bad acting or dialogue as other people.
Actually, I find the acting quite fine, and loved the scenes between Barry and Joe.

You know CG is looking alright and even if it wasn't as long as it isn't something horrendous that could have been shot IRL I will forgive it.

Seriously there was a green screen shot of some asian town on the show Last Resort,
a main character added in walking across it which will never be topped as the worst visual ever on tv.

Nothing tops the Lost submarine for pathetic CGI.

It's possible to avoid being overly dark and brooding while still not being poorly-acted embarrassing CW shlock. There are several comic books with substantially better writing than what we've seen so far, so I don't think the argument of "it's a comic book show what are you expecting!?" is a very good one.
That's a redherring because only a few comics for any single character could be noted as quality material instead of enjoyable shlock. You're talking about a few comics among dozens or even hundreds made over decades.

So regarding Wells, I assume most of us are thinking along these lines?

Any recommendations of Flash comics to read btw?

anything by Mark Waid or Geoff Johns.
as for Multiplex being able to copy both his clothes and the gun...
it is possible that anything that he touches he can also copy.

A good episode, glad to see the special effects are still there and actually not that bad, so I'm hopeful for coming episodes.

But seems like I still don't understand the extent of his speed in this show. For example, at the end when Black fell down, why didn't Barry run down the stairs and try to save him somehow? Wouldn't he be fast enough to do that?
I'm guessing one reason could be that he's still quite new with this power and perhaps the thought never occurred to him. Or something.

I don't think he's that fast, not yet anyway. Especially because he would have to stumble through long hall completely littered with bodies.
Plus I do think he normally functions on regular everyday speed (otherwise he would just go insane) and there is some slight delay before he enters the super speed

Didn't the Flash travel at speed of light-esque speeds? 700mph sounds really pathetic compared to that

He's supposed to grow in power as the show progresses. I don't know if he will ever get this fast on the ground, but at least in some way he has to if they want to handle the time travel

I'm not sure yet if I laugh with the show or at the show. There is some fun stuff in there, but also too many worn out tropes that make it hard to just roll with the cheese.

At least it looks like they gonna move forward with some of the stuff.

I'm just a few minutes into the episode, and I notice that the suit looks a little different. Did they change it between me the Pilot, and episode 2?

They did, don't think the yellow uhh trim or whatever was there in the pilot.

EDIT: Actually I guess not, just probably more noticeable because his in the suit a lot more in the second episode and we get a better look at it.

"we're still a few minutes out"

"people are going to die in there!'

"I know!"

you don't fucking critique a firefighter that he isn't at the scene of a fire. lol

I went back and checked, the yellow was there before. I think we just got more looks at it in the second episode than we did in the first where the few minutes he was in it were spent at night.

I thoroughly enjoyed that episode. I hope they go batshit insane with Flash's fight capabilities in the future. The zipping around knocking down clones in the crowd was cool.

It's official: THE FLASH is a big honkin' hit for CW. Episode 2 retains 100 percent of A18-49 from debut, with a 1.6. Viewers: 4.1M
.

EDIT: Correction

Joe Adalian said:
FLASH's 1.6, while still very good, was down about 12% from debut. I transposed last week's A18-34 (1.6) with A18-49 (1.9)
So it didn't hold even with last week, but it's still very good for week 2.
