Thanks. Less than a month before track action!

Was discussing with a mate today what I am doing for F1 this year, as he may join me but he's still working on his finances to see what he can afford. Still torn between Silverstone (easier, miles cheaper) or Singapore. I need to make a move before the end of the month though, before prices shoot up. Fuck.

Singapore is the only right option. Who the fuck wants to camp in a muddy field for a weekend when you can have the glitz and once in a lifetime experience of Singapore, seeing those cars drive about at night.

Do it mate. You know it's the right thing to do.

I'm thinking of going to Silverstone this year. I live in Birmingham so it isn't too far away. Was going to go last year but no one I know is remotely interested in F1 so the idea slowly faded away. I think I will go this year.

I'm going back and forth on Montreal this year. I guess it largely depends on being able to talk others in to going with me. I'd really love to be back in that city though.

That reminds me I need to sort out my tickets for Silverstone this year.

Just had a look and not surprised to see that the prices have increased again. General admission is £155 now, a few years ago I only paid about £100.

If there wasn't a GP in Melbourne, I'd definitely be going to the Singapore one, if only for the spectacle of night driving. But there is, so I'm going to that one instead.

I told you guys that, right?

Kimi has the best helmet design.
I hope he hasnt changed it for next season

Read my mind! I always thought that, reminds me of Heikki's. The matte that is.

As for the F1 website, that's me. Don't worry, I have great ambitions for it, whether or not they come true is entirely a different story! Let's just hope the best!

Cheers,

Best headline ever. Is stating the obvious though.

£2500-£3000 for a 10 day holiday, including tickets, or £450 for the weekend. I can afford it, but I'm not sure if I can justify it. I will wait and see what my mate says, but I have to make a decision before the end of Jan.

If Melbourne ever takes your (or anyone here's) fancy, I have a couch for ya if it's cost that prevents you from coming.

I've been to Melbourne in 2008, and if I had the option between the two I'd choose Melbourne for the second time.

Singapore would be so artificial IMHO, I've never been to the GP there but I've been to the country so many times for business.

btw add at least 30% extra to your budget, Singapore is so damn expensive, just to get into a decent club and have a nice night it will cost you no less than US$200-300, and that wasn't near the F1 GP.. so, be careful

Not mine, found it elsewhere and don't remember seeing it here

LOL.. that's clever

So where would be the best place to buy tickets from? Official F1 site? Official track site? Just wondering what others' experience has been like.

Going to be traveling 'round the world, and the timing works out for Silverstone, Spa, and Singapore. Probably just general admission.

You get what you pay for mate. If you want to shell out £450 for a weekend in a muddy field with a bunch of farmers then go ahead!

The official track site is cheaper than this, for Silverstone at least.
They are in most cases, but having had a track fail to send me tickets one year, I've never used them since.

Edit - Wait, what the fuck. No HD F1 on Virgin Media, and you can only get it if you've got the full sports package? Bollocks.

Yeah, I just can't see myself watching F1 live this year full stop.

Wait, wasn't the Mercedes already one of the longest cars on the grid last year? And they're making it even longer!

I'm going to the Singapore GP this year with my sister and Dad. Excited.

Out of interest, which track failed to send you tickets?

Transition from the W02 to the W03 taking into account the new regulations. The high nose is the the W02.

If they do lengthen the whole car then I expect they will revert back to conventional rads rather than the double stacked rad setup the W02 used. This would mean the side pods would lengthen and be less bulbous.

This is likely to also improve their cooling which they struggled with early last season.

There will be streams out there I'm sure.

Also the newer style of car looks nice.

I just remembered the F1 Slate. Still brings a smile.

You'd frickin' know all about that Nando, you're one of those team-mates I beat big time, aren't you.

fernando Fernando Alonso
Well seeing as we're all talking about points here, it should be noted that I had the same 109 points as you did in 2007. Anyway, it was a terribly emotional year for me, torn between my deep loyalty to Ron and the team, and my burning conscience urging me to let the truth out.

rondennis Ron Dennis
Your loyalty was about as deep as the puddle outside my motorhome you little shit. Your conscience won't be the only bloody thing burning if I get my hands on you.

fernando Fernando Alonso
I presume you're talking about the puddle that magically appeared from your pants leg when I opened my laptop?

Man, it's really gold. :lol

Ahaha, I love the first part of this one:
Red Bull and Mercedes share fastest pit-stop times
sbstnvtl Sebastian Vettel
Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes again!! Red Bull number one!! Oh, and also "joint first", AKA "number two", haha Mark.
wibbah Mark Webber
Ah fair go mate, pit stops are a team effort, I'm defo getting some credit for this one.
sbstnvtl Sebastian Vettel
I suppose you do give the pit lads a bit of extra practice when you break the car Mark, which I never ever do.
Horner Christian Horner
Don't worry Seb, even in the very unlikely event that you break something, we have spares for everything on the car. In fact Adrian tells me we have so many spare parts, we could actually make a second car out of them.
sbstnvtl Sebastian Vettel
I believe you do, it's called "Mark's car", haha.

I think Di Resta has a fundamentally flawed argument given Mark's underwhelming performance this year in near identical equipment. Just because we give Seb the best car does not mean he is guaranteed to wave that finger for me.

wibbah Mark Webber
Flamin Nora, Seb did a stonking job this year but what do mean by "near" identical equipment Christian?

Horner Christian Horner
Mark, while you did have a 2011 Red Bull, F1 cars are essentially ever-evolving prototypes, meaning it is almost impossible for us to ensure that the same spec components exist on both cars simultaneously.

wibbah Mark Webber
I thought my contract at least bloody guarantees me equal equipment mate.

Horner Christian Horner
We need to ensure perfect Seb has the perfect car to be able to win everything for us Mark, and your contract says the team will "endeavour" to provide you with identical parts, this being is at the discretion of Adrian, Seb and I.

This was an actual conversation. Everything about this is true.

edit:

God, I LOVE this Fernando! :lol

Horner Christian Horner
We at Red Bull would like to avoid giving the impression that we encourage reckless behaviour Eddie, and motorcycles could certainly be put in the "reckless" category.

fernando Fernando Alonso
Fair enough Horner, maybe you should let Seb try some Red Bull sponsored events instead, like jumping out of a helicopter on skis, or hopping off a cliff in a wing suit.

ej Eddie Jordan
While those kind of things are all well and entertaining, it really is reckless to be showing them on TV, exposing people to crazy ideas that nobody should ever even consider attempting. And on top of that, I think everyone should try one of these things at least once in their life - I mean come on, lighten up, you only live once.

fernando Fernando Alonso
Do us a favour Jordan, if you ever try the jumping off a cliff thing, leave the parachute at home.
