Is there any chance to predict weather in that part of England? Because it looks very unstable.

How fucked are McLaren? Did they give up on this season already? I've been watching speed so no commentary.
a) Sandbagging
b) Technical problems
c) Setup problems
d) Upgrades not working (again)
e) Other

I will go with d) , but they are usually not going for top times in FPs, unlike Ferrari

I still fear that RBR will put another ace from their sleeve in Q3 and bam half a second advantage.

not to sure about that, they are getting screwed with the new rule
They still have the best car though, even with the off-throttle system compromised. It's just a very good car in general and a testament to Newey's genius.

And they have the best driver with Vettel

Charly Whiting is the biggest clown in F1 right now. What a spineless idiot. Hangs his flag after the wind every day. The sensible decission would have been to revert to status quo untill the end of season.

I hope Renault/RBR fill a protest after this sunday out of principle no matter what the outcome of the race is.

While the final decision may be technically correct as RBR requested the change late, the whole things is a farce. Especially with no in season testing, mid season rule changes are a disgrace.

He does have a pretty difficult job to do.

Having a difficult job is no excuse to do the job poorly. Lots of people have difficult jobs. If you don't have what it takes to be good at it it's time to make place for someone new. That's especialy true for F1.

Didn't we know months ago about the blown diffuser ban? I can see why FIA considered Renault's complaints to be coming in too late. But they should've known that yesterday too. Confusing.

Qualifying in just over an hour

BBC Sport's Andrew Benson on Twitter: "I'm told there is an extraordinary general meeting of F1's technical working group happening now to try to reach consensus on engine rules'."

And they are still trying to figure out what to do regarding engine rules.

Charlie summoned all team principals and main technical guys to 'extraordinary' meeting right after FP3

In Lord Spanky years, there would be mass spanking event...
Never a dull moment in F1.

Less than half an hour before practice on Saturday, governing body the FIA reversed a rule change introduced on Friday after pressure from Red Bull.

The world champions believe the rules now put them at a disadvantage.

McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh described the late decision as "a bit frustrating and a bit shocking".

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner refused to comment to BBC Sport when asked for his judgement about the ruling.

He had stormed off to see FIA race director Charlie Whiting after discovering that the Friday ruling had been reversed.

An extraordinary meeting of F1's technical working group - which features leading technical figures and FIA director Whiting - was called after practice on Saturday to try to reach a consensus on the issue.

Whitmarsh, Horner and Mercedes team principal Ross Brawn also attended the meeting.

Why does it seem that F1 becomes a farce at least once every season?

Anyways I'm insanely jealous of my sister who is flying down to Silverstone tomorrow/today in a private jet to watch the race.

fuck this sucks.

so will they be allowed the 50% from the next race?

There is still no clear rule for next races, but for this one... redbull/mclaren will have zero blown defuser, renault will get 50%, mercedes 10%. At least that is how i understand it.

Mclaren get 10% hot blown, they have a Mercedes engine.

Renault get 10% cold blown, as do Red Bull and everyone else who doesn't have a Mercedes engine.
