Diffuser saga over says FIA.
"In addition to the main part of the agreement reached (at Silverstone) it was also agreed that no team would raise a protest against another on these matters for the rest of the season."

Webber positive about staying F1.
"The team and I are talking about whether I continue with Red Bull in 2012 and it's positive.

"What happened on Sunday does not turn my world upside down."

Trading the chance to race for the chance to win races. Why anyone at that stage of their career would want to be a number 2 driver is beyond me.

Karun Chandhok and Narain Karthikeyan are not at all impressed after Force India team boss Vijay Mallya said they were only in F1 for the "sake of driving a F1 car."

Having come under criticism for failing to give young Indian drivers opportunities, Mallya insisted he was doing his part by putting an Indian F1 team on the grid.

However, he didn't stop there. The team boss went on to say that both Chandhok, who is a Team Lotus test driver, and Karthikeyan, who recently lost his Hispania race-seat to Daniel Ricciardo, were only in F1 for the sake of it and not making any impact on the sport.

"As far as the existing Indian drivers in Formula One are concerned, I can only feel very sorry for them. They are getting drives by the teams who clearly can't compete," Mallya said.

"If that's what they want to do, drive a Formula One car for the sake of driving a Formula One car and winding up at the back, I can't do anything about it."

As to be expected, Chandhok is not happy with Mallya's comments.

"I think it's a bit sad that in one breath the chairman of our Indian ASN (national sporting authority) is talking about how much he has done for Indian drivers and then in the next breath he is criticising India's only two Formula One drivers," he told Reuters.

"If you are going to criticise people, at least do it with some facts. Having never tested either Narain or myself in one of his cars, he doesn't have the facts."

"I understand the need to find the next Indian star, and I use the word next not first, and the need to create more Indian F1 drivers.

"But you are not going to find the next Indian star by running events in single-engined four-stroke rental karts on 400 metre tracks made out of concrete."

Meanwhile, Karthikeyan, who will return to the Hispania team for the inaugural Indian GP in October, insisted that "against all the odds, both of us have made it to Formula one.

"It doesn't matter who I drive for in the Indian Grand Prix. It's just a symbolic and historic moment and one that can show aspiring young drivers what they can do with hard work and effort.

"The Tata Group is very supportive of what I do and that's all that matters."
Seems a bit rich for a mid to back running team to be accusing drivers of not trying.

Chandhok was actually faring quite well against Senna (I know Senna isn't exactly a great benchmark to judged against) and certainly comes across as a very erudite.
Yeah, I think Chandhok could be decent in the right car. No Ham or Vettel, but certainly a Massa or Heidfeld.

Chandhok critical of Mallya over Indian drivers' remarks

Karun Chandhok has criticised Force India boss Vijay Mallya for his comments about Indian Formula 1 drivers.

Speaking to the Reuters news agency on Wednesday, Chandhok hit out at Mallya for his comments.

He also suggested Force India's programme was simply not enough to get new Indian drivers into F1.

"I think it's a bit sad that in one breath the chairman of our Indian ASN is talking about how much he has done for Indian drivers and then in the next breath he is criticising India's only two Formula 1 drivers," Chandhok said.

"If you are going to criticise people, at least do it with some facts. Having never tested either Narain or myself in one of his cars, he doesn't have the facts.

I dunno, the designs have changed in various ways over the years, but when you show me cars from 50 years ago they still look pretty similar and just as unique as the cars we have today.

The wheels being far out from the car and driver being in an uncovered cockpit is what makes F1 so cool, in a lot of ways. That's the whole image.

Pretty sure I've seen a higher res version of it in the past, if I find it I'll post it instead.

I'd say everything from 1970 shares the same sort of look. Of course, there are a lot of differences, but I mean they are easily identifable as F1 cars, compared to the earlier ones.

Thinking about going to Silverstone next year, when do I have to seriously consider buying tickets?
Tickets for the race are normally available to buy in September, you could buy them early or wait until the new year. I'd buy them as soon as possible, personally.

I think F1 cars from the late 60s, before the introduction of wings, are the most gorgeous cars ever made. Just a tube, an engine, and a couple of wheels.

I love those ones, but to me the early 70's with the low straight wings, are just so tough and pretty I can't go past them for my favourites.

This car is briljant. The cars from the 70's look so ridiculous, back then the designers had complete freedom to do the craziest things, so awesome.

Channel 5? Seriously? If that happens I will no longer watch the races live but download a version without adverts.

Also, I find NASCAR incredibly dull but I got goosebumps watching this video just from the sound as they go past. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cuMBvBkaNMw&feature=feedf

As a spectacle of petroleum driven fury, few things can compete with NASCAR. Pity the racing is more of a cynical marketing exercise than anything else.

Lewis is finished for this season, he is engaged to Nicole.
I'm sure he said that his personal life had an impact to his driving last season, splitting up for a month, replacing his dad as his manager etc. If anything this will give him a boost for the rest of the season.

Lewis' spokesman Simon Olivera denied the engagement when The Mail on Sunday went to the press with the story. Moreover, Alfonso seemed to be careful of his next statement about the couple's status, saying "Listen, I don't want to be the one to say that. I think you need to hear it from them. I don't want to be seen to say anything that might be wrong. I don't want to get in trouble."

Going to my first GP this weekend, is there something that's good to know beforehand or something I need to bring besides maybe earplugs for the sound? Is it even that loud from the stands?

Basically I don't really know what to expect. =)

Hahahahha, oh boy you're in for a treat. Bring ear plugs to be safe, depends how close you are/what corner/speed they're running at.
