Just watching the BBC footage... anyone know what that odd "UFO" sounding siren is which goes off all the time?

Think its when cars are coming into the pits, a few tracks have them

There is an alarm (usually a horn) which goes off when a car enters the pit lane, all tracks have them.

Second best race of the season.

Webber, Hamilton and Alonso all in the 130s now. Interesting. I have money on all three of them to win the championship, so things could get a little bit interesting! Yes, part of me still thinks this could fall apart for Vettel, haha. I wish Massa managed to hold him off :(

Massa did manage to hold Vettel off, that's the greatest thing about the race. Ferrari just messed up his strategy :(

This season is somewhat reminiscent of 2009. McLaren are right on Red Bull's toes and Ferrari are only fractionally behind them.

.

This, ferrari should have seen that as soon as hamilton went onto the medium tyre he was green/purpling sectors despite everyone thinking that the medium would be 1s slower a lap, ferrari should have pitted massa with 5/6 to go and let him use the undercut like hamilton did. In the end both vettel and massa went to the final lap while being about 1.5s a lap slower then the top three as they didn't want to give up the 'advantage' of being on worn slower tyres.

Same happened with Webber, just flat out silly really :l

Very good race. However, Alonso, why didn't you crash into Vettel in Turn 1 on the start? Bad Alonso.

Canada still by far the best race this season, but this had some good entertainment. Hamilton haters must be mad - his aggressive overtaking moves worked an absolute charm today.

I'm not a hater but I'm not a massive fan*. After this round though, you can't help but admire him, even though I thought his Webber bump was a bit rough. Guy was just on fire all weekend.

*Actually, I am a fan of his driving but I think his aggression gets the better of him sometimes, to the detriment of other drivers who are perhaps a little more cautious.

I followed Hamilton from GP2 so I'm no bandwagon jumper but man, today his passes were phenomenal. What was Alonso doing haha?

Also, what happened to Racing Underground?

I find it quite amusing that a Webber fan considers the love kiss Hamilton gave Webber this weekend as 'a bit rough' but seems to forget Singapore 2010 ;)

I'm just precious about Webber, that's all ;) I know it's just good racing, I just don't like to see my Webs get a mark on him.

What impresses me about today's current crop of drivers is that I don't think there's anyone that drives dirty, or even reckless. Schumacher of course was that guy before, and it always pisses me off that people defended it ("THE ENDS JUSTIFY THE MEANS!!!"....shut the fuck up), but even now Schumacher doesn't sink to that level anymore (of course he doesn't have that much to gain anymore), though he can still pull off an audaciously aggressive pass when the circumstances are right. I think Raikkonen took Sutil out twice in his last year, but that was due to carelessness (and probably him not giving a fuck anymore) then anything else, the rest of the time he was clean as a whistle.

Hamilton, as aggressive as he is at time, is not someone I've ever regarded as dirty. Reckless at times perhaps, but I think that comes with being the biggest risk taker on the grid ATM. You think about all the times he and Alonso have gone wheel to wheel since their McLaren fall out, and as close as those two have gotten to each other, they've never taken each other out. That's a credit to both drivers. To be honest I've never sensed any lingering animosity between 'em myself, but I'm sure they still wanna beat each other more than anyone else on the grid.

Just look at how many clean starts we've had this year, even on the tracks where car pile ups on the first corner was an automatic in years past. It's truly amazing to see a field of 22 drivers being able to race so close to each other, in cars that are top to bottom closer then they were say ten or twenty years ago, yet give each other enough room to stay on the road. I think that's been my biggest joy in watching F1 the last few years.

I suppose some would argue that today's F1 cars are easier to drive then they've ever been, so that's the reason for the reduced on track collisions. I'm not sure I necessarily believe that, what they have to do with the wheel controls is simply looney to me, but I guess I can't rule it out. Still, I don't see that as a bad thing if it keeps cars on the road and drivers out of the emergency ward.

Ah, you've made the distinction between dirty and reckless. They're the words I was trying to look for but instead was just lumping them all together. Thank you!

Entertaining race, went by quickly. Glad to see Kobay get some points and especially to see Hamilton and Alonso beating the Red Bulls.

One note, fuck Ferrari sucks, losing a position on that pit stop my god.

Hamilton's pass was great, but in my mind it was no greater than Webber's attempt at the same corner. Hamilton just defended much better than Alonso.

Also, after 6 or 7 consecutive weeks of falling down the ladder I've finally managed to climb up 2 places :)

After watching the highlights last night and a rerun of the f1forum I didn't actually see hamilton touch webber, they got close yes and webber did a quick jink to the right but from no angle could you see contact, hamiltons on-board didn't even show a bump or knock while going around the corner.

So does this race show again that Vettel is only good when he is at the front?
He kept making mistakes & never even got close to overtaking Massa until his pitcrew did it for him.

A few more races of Vettel qualifying off the front row & his championship will shrink alot faster than people expect.

It appears that when his car is more equal to his competitors that he struggles a lot more in racing trim.

He seems to be lacking the racecraft that Alonso and Hamilton have at the moment, but he has age on his side. I‘m sure his racecraft will improve over time, but it may well be the one weakness that plagues the rest of his career.

They all have aspects that they may be lacking in; there‘s no such thing as a perfect driver.

Well, he made that one mistake that cost him like 7 seconds + he probably destroyed his tyres. Aside that I'd attribute much of his breaking problems to the adjustments he had to make in the race (to the front) because of temperature problems.

And I actually think this race improved Vettels chances for the championship. I don't see McLaren being able to pull off this kind of performance every race, so he lost 3 and 6 points on his (imo) strongest competitors.

True, but we have seen this before that he struggles when isnt at the front. Throughout his career he very rarely finishs on the podium if he qualifys outside the top 3. Infact most races he goes backwards.

Well I wouldnt say he is in danger of any catching him just yet, but isnt this the first race this season that his lead has actually decreased?

EDIT: I'm not anti-vettel just pointing out that his race craft is extremely poor compared to most other drivers.

Second, first was in China.

Theyre probably jealous of how awesome we are! ....right? Right!

So glad next weekend we have another race.

This last race just proves that with an equal car Vettel doesn't have the confidence or race craft to go for the overtaking maneuvers that Hamilton or Alonso are capable of. Awesome race by Hamiltion, although I have no idea what Alonso was doing after his second pit when he came out in front of Hamilton, he just let him take the outside line without defending. Ferrari need to sort there pitstops out aswell, so embarassing race afer race.

This championship could now turn on its head if Ferrari and Mclaren and Webber keep up there performances.

When he proves himself starting from the back of the grid and finishing on the podium like Hamilton, Alonso, Kimi or Webber then the hate will die down. Until then questions will be asked of his overtaking proficiency and skill, especially after what we saw from Hamilton today. That we almost never see Vettel in a scrap like that because the RBR7 has dominated the season so far and the other RBR7 driver, Webber, has team orders to back off hasn't helped his standing.

Vettel is in the same position as Jenson really. Is he really a great driver or does the car flatter him?

Button gets those questions because he won the championship when every other car was dogshit, Vettel gets them because he won with an utterly dominant RBR6 and is winning again with the RBR7 which has dominated until recently. The last two races where Ferrari and McLaren have been competitive Vettel hasn't won, and last race Vettel should have finished third if there had been no team orders.

Didnt vettel win a race in a torro roso?
