Am I right in remembering the BBC did a U-turn on axing 6-Music/Asian Network?

Pretty much.

BBC Four and BBC Three still exist though. Fucking shambolic.

Someone should ask the 5Live guys what they think about all of this.

I agree about BBC Three, but not BBC Four. It's what BBC2 used to be, with a very good array of documentaries, which is one of the areas that the BBC really excels in.

Traffic is real deal on this track

also, times are getting faster, but they are still almost 3 seconds down to last years PP

BBC4 is super awesome. Best BBC channel really, and the only one that really satisfies the public service remit. BBC3 is dogshit though, definitely should have axed it along with radio 6.

BBC 4 is one of the best channels. It covers so much of the PSB remit. People wanting it to go don't seem to understand what the BBC is meant to do.

Alright fair enough, I've never really watched BBC Four, other than F1 and occasionally Top Gear/Doctor Who I watch all my BBC stuff on the iPlayer.

In fact, thinking of it - and the very good point that it does what BBC2 used to do - I'd suggest something a bit more drastic: Dump BBC2. Cream the highlights from it (Newsnight, University Challenge, Top Gear, QI, that sort of thing), find places for them in the BBC4 schedule, then rebrand BBC4 as the new BBC2.

That would removea channel, saving a bunch of money, and give us a damn good channel in its place, and most average viewers would still get what they want out of things. And the University Challenge/Only Connect double bill can finally be reunited on the same channel! Everyone wins!

Except Flog It fans.

Interested in how Brundle acts this weekend.
Lets have a look closely at the Williams car here, see this wing, it's incredibly delicate.

* snap *

Oh well, I'm sure they can replace that.

He's not going to say much, I'm sure he still has a job. Especially next summer. Interested in how Brundle acts this weekend.

Brundle is the sole representative of UK F1 fans imo. A solid replacement for Murray.

Back to the race this weekend, its looks incredibly close between the top 3 teams.
McLaren & Ferrari are right in the mix of things with Button & Massa being on the pace too.

Cooler temps helping McLaren & car upgrades making Massa much more competitive.

Oh, absolutely. But wouldn't it be *wonderful*?

It's been said a few times that BBC2's lost its identity, and I think that's fair; the comedy's ended up on BBC3, the documentaries and niche dramas have ended up on BBC4. It's a bit aimless right now.

Wallander, The Killing; those belong on BBC2. Only Connect I've said before fits snugly with University Challenge. Charlie Brooker's stuff would slot in just about right behind Newsnight. The Britannia strands - when was the last time BBC2 had one of their themed nights?

I've highlighted all the decent tracks. I reckon India and Austin will produce decent races.

I would highlight the German GP, but Hockenheim is a pretty boring track imo.

Malaysia is a boring track, but is usually interesting because of the weather. Same with Korea (hoping it rains again this year!)

I'd like to see France on the calendar.

It should replace valencia & be the new European GP :D

Right, right, Austria still exists. But didn't Horner say that it was unlikely that the A1 ring would return?

I would like the Euro GP to be the Euro GP and skip to another country each year...

A1 ring is cool though...

Yeah, but Valencia is awful and Spain already has a GP. I understand that FOM want to pack the crowds in Spain as much as possible while Alonso is in the sport but Austria is the home of Red Bull so there would be a lot of support there as well.

Lest we forget the abomination that was F1 Digital.

coverage was the best ever in the uk but viewer figures were pathetic - 50,000-100,000 viewers per race.

f1 being punted back to bbc 2, no doubt the bbc will drop all coverage from 2013 making sky the exclusive broadcaster of live f1 with channel 5 taking an highlights package from them like they do with the cricket.

a fucking disaster.
