Yep, that's the angle I was talking about.

We definitely need to see both on-board cams to see the steering inputs.

After a year lurking and this year posting in F1-GAF I've learned to not be surprised by any of the reactions on here.

Yeah, I'm wanting to post less in F1 Gaf now because, frankly, we have some idiots in here

The camera angle is stupid. If you follow the grid spots on the track you can see Maldonado is going across while Hamilton maintain his line.

We don't have the full story but it seemed like Hamilton moved across a little to maybe intimidate Maldonado, and like an idiot Maldonado drove towards Hamilton in response and they unfortunately touched. Also the camera angle indeed doesn't show how much Maldonado moved across.

Fuck, come back from a few beers and miss a few pages worth of stuff. Anyone give enough of a shit to do a rundown of events? I already know the starting positions, but it sounds like a LOT more went on.

I don't think anyone is disputing that Maldonado goes across. I'm just interested in what Hamilton did. From what I can see, he provoked, and then at the very least held a line that he knew would allow the Williams to hit him.

I want to see his reaction to the Williams moving left, whether that was holding the line, moving slightly right, or trying to take any kind of avoiding move left (as there was plenty of space on the left).

Hamilton overtakes Maldonado at the last chicane on a hot lap. They meet again at the first corner and decide to rain down massive assholery on each other.

Also 4 people are being investigated post race for possibly speeding under yellow flags

I was so hoping when Alonso was being linked to Ferrari that he would replace Massa. No disrepect to Massa but Kimi and Alonso on the same team would have been awesome, no doubt Kimi would have been fighting for victories.

We need Iceman back in F1, his Spa moments were glorious!

Awesome. Thanks!

I noticed a brief amount of talk that Webber looked certain for pole. Why was that?

He was blitzing the rest of the guys on a track getting better all the time, unfortunately he made a mistake on the last lap + had traffic.

Webber is usually pretty solid for quali in these semi dry/wet conditions. plus he looked good in FP?

I was sure Webber was going to get pole after that lap where he was over a second faster than anyone else, but with changeable conditions lap times got quicker and quicker over time.

Last lap in Q3? Sounds like that with traffic and that mistake, maybe he was lucky to get third. Must've been gunning it the rest of the lap to qualify as high as third.

Are you asking me? I know his times were decent in practise, but I wasn't sure if that was what the posters were referring to.

Anyway, back to business. People are expecting an exciting start with Vettel and Hammy... this isn't the first time this year we've seen them on the front row together, is it?

Well, I'm crossing my fingers that Webber will finally get a good start and not drop back any positions. With any luck Vettel will squeeze Hamilton to the outside of the first corner to swap positions with Webber. Or they take each other out... either way, I'm cool.

I'm really sorry I missed qualifying. Good job on Senna to immediately respond to the critics. No idea if Heidfeld could've done a better job or not, but he beat his teammate and that's the first thing he needs to be doing. That Hamilton incident is crazy, but it definitely doesn't seem like either driver is entirely to blame. It'll be interesting to see how the stewards find it.

#F1 Lewis Hamilton has been cleared by the FIA while Pastor Maldonado receives a 5 place grid penalty

I think hamilton should have gotten a warning or what ever, because he wasent entirely in the clear.

He was given a reprimand, his second of the season. One more and he gets a 5 place penatly at the next race.

Well we all know thats going to happen before the season ends.

Hehe, depending on the weather, it might happen tomorrow. If we get mixed conditions, it's almost guaranteed I think. I hope we do, for Button's and Michael's sakes. It woudl make the race infinitely more entertaining to see them fight their way up.

God damn, best qualifying of the season? Maybe.
Noooo.... well, guess I have to hope that someone uploads it to Usenet before the race tomorrow. Think I want to watch it now.

Some interesting stuff on Twitter with comments from Pat Fry at Ferrari saying he has seen plenty of cars in parc ferme with blistered tyres.

Hamilton did 4 laps.
Webber & Vettel did 5 laps.

I read 'some' not 'plenty'
Also, if i recall this correctly, blisters appear when tire suddenly lost working temperature - gets cold. Tarmac was quite cold today at Spa, with some wet spots off racing line and So this is quite normal and if blisters are not severe, they tend to disappear after tire is reheated.
