The Formula 1 2011 Season of Vettel Fingering the Competition |OT|

Vettel and Hamilton in one dominant championship winning team would ignite Prost-Senna or the more recent Alonso-Hamilton levels of rivalry though, hopefully. F1 is getting too nice, we need a proper inter-team fight/rivalry again.

I personally believe the closest thing we've got is a Vettel - Webber for 2012.

Their tech stuff seems solid, but the management will drive it into the ground
Their tech stuff will probably run to Mercedes... they are fishing people all over the place and 2012 season could be much much different for them.

I like F1 GAF in the downtime between races, it suddenly becomes a lot more sensible. :)

The real F1-GAF is the F1-GAF that has these great discussions between races . I honestly haven't found anywhere else on the internet like this thread.

:)

As much as it saddens me to say it, I really don't think Webber is getting anywhere near Vettel unless he can master the Pirelli tyres (provided that is the actual reason he's not as close as last year).

Webbers chance is gone for good. He had is chance in 2010 but he can't touch Vettel anymore. Plus Vettel would never badmouth or even criticize him in the slightest in public.
I think the worst he ever said about Webber was that 'they'd probably never be best friends.'

Yeah, that's very true. :(

I just hope it doesn't boil down to Mark supporting Vettel and not actually winning races.

We've gotta hit 20k posts before the season ends, cmon ;)

We've got some amazing races coming up, so hopefully that shouldn't be a problem. :p

That depends on the number of Hamilton-related incidents.

Edit: Damn you S.L.! :lol

There's a "faster than you, can you confirm" joke in there.

It can go one of two ways. Either everyone but the two of them are eliminated from possibly winning so they let them fight it out in the last 2-3 races, or Mark is demoted to protector of Seb's championship and he defends against a small field of 3-4 potential winners.

The next time Hamilton touches another car on track will generate another 1000 posts easily

It's kinda sad that this tends to hold true :/

Is it me or is this growing. How many pages were there last year before the season ended?

If I recall correctly, the F1 thread from last year just about hit 16 or 18k posts? I hadn't been validated then so I don't recall exactly.

Maybe he can touch both Ferrari cars in Monza and send them into barriers :D

F1 thread last year ended with 10297 posts.

How I want MP4-12C, that car is sooooo sexy

O yeah we will def beat that. Singapore will be amazing this year.

Also i would like hamilton and vettel in one team, second team should be alonso and rosberg at ferrari.

I have some amazing hi-res media pictures I'm uploading. Schumacher got a really cool gift from Ferrari (not the helmet.) Plus, seeing a Senna in a Black/Gold Lotus is quite creepy in a good way.

If you guys want access to my pictures, send me a PM as I will only link a few.

Singapore is such an exciting race, I love seeing the F1 cars driving around at night. Also the reason why I make an exception for Abu Dhabi on the calendar :lol

Abu Dhabi is such a great track (I did a couple of karting there). Such an expensive ticket price though, even if it gives you access to Ferrari World. :\

Hamilton got a bad rep from his season with Alonso as his team mate. Hamilton threw a monkey wrench in the system because he had the balls to not let himself be treated like a servant driver. Some people found that to be arrogant.

The truth is Alonso is a very dominant dude and he wants to control the team he is in. He requested for unfair shit at McLaren, had Piquet Jr. crash for a victory at Renault and we know what fiddle Massa is playing at Ferrari currently. Vettel and Alonso would be TNT. Vettel and Hamilton would be extremely competitive but manageable - if those wunderkind backers could keep their shit to themselves.

Ferrari give their greatest driver a signed engine cover, RBR give their chief technical officer one of his own F1 cars.

Hmmm.

Same man.

It's a real nice warming community in times like these.

I'm sure Domenicali would've been more grateful, if Schumacher didn't betray him. ;)

Dude's already gotten a custom one-off all black FXX when he "retired". What else could you give?

Eddie's gift is just trolling though. :lol

Seemed to do alright on the hard tyres over the weekend!

I saw the movie few weeks ago and thought it was pretty disappointing. Now I'm not sure if I should gift it to my brother. Don't get me wrong, it was nice to watch, but after all the hype here I expected a bit more than things I already knew.
The film is more about telling a story than documenting tiny little details that a die hard fan would want to know.

That's why it's so good, I think. It transcends the F1 fans.

Just got done watching the canada grand prix, one of the many races iv seen the past few weeks. And man it it nice to rewatch races, i noticed things i did not when watching them live. One of the things is how lucky vettel is sometimes. Not only does he seem to able to keep himself out of trouble, but he is the one that benefits the most of his opponents screwing up. Either its one of them crashing or some one else taking points of the other.

Also that canada race, both button and vettel got lucky in a way. Vettel got screwed by 2 safety cars when he was building his lead, and button got lucky he had the rain coming in when was on inter's.

So far this season has been amazing, it had almost everything. Drama, crashes, overtakes, strategy, rain, chaos. You name it, we had it this year. While i would love for vettel to win next year as well. A combination of this year's excitement and last years close battle for the championship would make 2012 the best season ever for me.

I'm having giant flashbacks of the first half of the season when you kept on going on about how Vettel had no luck at all ;)

This is true, but Webber still has yet to win a race this season :(
I know. Boy, do I know :(

I hope Spa was a wake up call re: his starts. Rather than relax, they should get him in a simulator where all he does is start over and over. As much as I'd love for this to be sarcastic, it seems like it's really the only thing holding him back. The rest of his driving is pretty much flawless.

Agreed on Vettel's luck, too. Safety car over the weekend AND the Hamilton DNF were just ridiculous strokes of good fortune.

I know, I know, but the presentation didn't touch me at all. Maybe I don't have a soul anymore or something like that.

The only thing this season's lacking apart from a tight championship battle and a Webber victory is a Schumacher podium. He came tantalisingly close in Canada, but it just wasn't enough.

Ah come on now, you sometimes get caught in the excitement. Also its not just the luck, its just how much he seems to capitalize on his opponents misfortune.

Yup. There's a distinct lack of arrogance with Schumacher this year which I'm really enjoying. Like, rather than think he can be dominant like last year, he's learned to enjoy racing without having to beat the pants off of everyone (most of the time).

I was just thinking, how about we leave Spa in and remove Bahrain? Since it's a really boring race to watch.

Also, does Nicole still go to races? I haven't seen her since Monaco, maybe she doesn't like Hamilton's style of driving any more. :p

I'd drop many more circuits than just Bahrain.

My calender would be;

Melbourne
Kuala Lumpur
Jerez
Monaco
Magny-Cours
Portimao
Silverstone
Red Bull Ring (A1 Ring)
Hockenheim
Montreal
Texas*
Spa
Monza
Suzuka
Potrero de los Funes (Argentina)
Interlagos

* Depends on the circuit

My dream calender would add;

Le Mans and the Nordschleife alternating as the European GP.
