It looks like Le Mans was in early June, what do you suggest I should try watching? All I have in the US is the Speed channel which I'm not sure has endurance racing all that often.
Speed channel has plenty of endurance racing. They show a good portion of 24 hours of Le Mans, and show a good portion of the Rolex Sports Car Series (not every event is 24 hours long, but there are seperate classes of cars that race each other on the same track). Check this link out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_Rolex_Sports_Car_Series_season

The next race is on 9/17 on SPEED in Ohio.

They also show some American Le Mans stuff.

Sucks that ESPN is buying up rights to air stuff and then not showing it live, because unless there was an event of higher prestige, SPEED would most likely show it live :(

Kubica's big crash in Montreal 07 was also quite scary.

Jesus, Kubica was driving in F1 since 2007? I had no idea, even though I'm following the sport for over a decade. It's so easy to forget some drivers that weren't in the top teams.

If you have Comcast for internet you can watch past ALMS events on WatchESPN.com.

Hope that doesn't affect Ricciardo's chances for a drive in STR next year.

Never, EVER get sick of that. And of course Ambrose has moved onto bigger and better things. Barry Sheene though :(

Have you built other models? If not, then this is not a good place to start. Go buy a $5 plane or tank or ship at a local hobby store and practice.

Not in a looong time; I saw some cheap Tamiya models the other day and am indeed tempted to get one to practice.

Anyone show F1 in the US live?
I've to go New Mexico for a few weeks and I'm going to miss Monza and Singapore GPs.

Probably stick with the hacked BBC Player if not.

Regarding the model talk in the previous page, I recently bought a Tamiya Mclaren MP4/5B; still hasn't arrived, but I never built a model of these, so I'm afraid I'm going to mess it all up. They do look good when they are assembled properly.
watch this video - it's the mp4/4 but you will get an good idea in the steps involved to build a good looking one

One of the worst crashes I ever saw was when Greg Moore died at Indy. Horrible accident.

Was at California, but yeah, horrific.

Kenny Brack's Texas crash was a bad one as well, though he survived that one.

EDIT: Zanardi's in Germany, too, is another bad one.

I'd stick with the BBC player. I really like Varsha and Hobbs but once you get accustomed the F1 nirvana of Brundle/Coulthard anything else is like a bad blowjob; it feels good and has its moments, but you'd be with someone else if you had the chance.

I even think his first race was in 06 with Sauber. He replaced Villeneuve.

Webber on Nando overtake at Spa. Love hearing him talk about it.
In fact, I just love hearing him talk.

Love that guy.

Hamilton excited about Monza qualifying chances
“I think we go into the weekend feeling pretty optimistic. I’ve never won at Monza and I’d love to get a good result this year. I’m particularly looking forward to qualifying, because I think DRS will make a huge difference to our lap times, and I really want to get the maximum out of the car in qualifying – and then look forward to a strong race, of course.

“I think things are set for another very closely matched race – I’m really looking forward to it.”

What the hell happened to Mark this season? I know he's had a bit of bad luck, but it's nowhere near enough to excuse being so consistently behind his team mate all season. The RB7 has seven wins to date this season and none of them have been taken by Webber. I know Seb seemingly unlocked some new potential after being crowned World Champion and is definitely a better driver than he was in 2010, but I still don't think Webber's driven to his full potential this season either.

And what's the matter with his starts this season? Malaysia, Turkey, Spain, Monaco, Britain, Germany, Hungary and Belgium - all races where he's lost places at the start. That's a pretty horrible strike-rate.

This is actually Webber's best ever season in F1.

Vettel has just stepped up his game and stopped making the silly mistakes we saw last year.

Unfortunately Webber's title hopes ended in the wall at Korea.

Yeah, he's actually been driving better than ever this year. The fact that he's still second after zero wins is pretty impressive considering it's over drivers like Hamilton, Button and Nando. But yeah, you have to think that those rough-arse starts have cost him at least one victory at some stage.

Let me just point out I'm a Webber fan. Joint British-Australian citizenship and all. It's just I really wanted him to take the title last year and was hoping for better from him this year. Sure, statistically it's his best season. But he's also been monstered by his team mate in (ahem) "equal" machinery so I reject that he's driving better than ever. He's produced some brilliant drives this year for sure, but I still think he should really be fighting for wins alongside Seb on almost a race-by-race basis. But he isn't. :(

You also need to factor in the massive loss of morale after narrowly losing the title last year and Seb being so dominant this year.

Webber is the only guy apart from Alonso that I would love to see win a world championship. I still haven't seen the last part of last years race at Abu Dhabi or watched any of the forum or Vettel celebrations because it was so depressing seeing Alonso's and Webber's championship hopes fade as they were stuck behind the Renault. I followed Alonso's carreer through F1 same with Webber and Button, Webber is the only one who hasn't won a championship and every year it seems like its never going to happen.

I still remember where I was when he won his first, too. Was watching the TV in a fairly busy pub on a Sunday night. I might've been a bit drunk, but that was by far the highlight of my night.

Germany, wasn't it?

Okay, Webber is a good driver not in the same league with Vettel but a good driver but Barrichello?
Lightning quick at his best, but lacking the mental fortitude and consistency to put together a successful championship campaign. He'll sadly be remembered as the driver who played second fiddle to Schumacher during the dream team era.

I've always liked Rubens, but IMO he's always been the posterboy for #2 drivers. Even moreso than Webber.

To be fair, anyone who was paired with Schumi for those 5 years would hold that title.

Don't forget Barrichello lost a world title with a punctured tyre :(

Hakkinen in a Rory Byrne Ferrari with equal treatment...hmm. Impossible scenario considering his relationship with Ron Dennis and his loss of heart in 2001, but he would have put up a better fight than Rubens in my opinion.

Yeah, I guess those years kind of set the precedent for him at least being seen as #2. The first things that came to mind were his years at Honda/Brawn where except for his first year at Honda where he was on pretty much equal footing with Button.

one overlooked element in the belgian GP was alonso passing massa and not in a DRS zone and not with the 'RPS system'.
no bbc whining of Ferrari robbing race fans, no poor fragile massa...
that massa dude couldnt pass Nico, then Alonso shows him how its done.
Hammy got in the mix and plowed that monkey good and solid.

hopefully DJ Smedly on WhineFM is going to be featured on the race edit.

Why was it overlooked? There was nothing interesting about it at all. Just two quicker drivers passing someone who was slower.

most monkeys complain that alonso cant match his teammate unless given the nod from the team, because 'fernando isnt faster than felippe'.

yet knowledgable F1 fans know different.

BBC might be doing full race on the red button at the same time the highlight show is going out.

The BBC will offer full reruns of the Formula One races that it does not show live next year. They will be shown on demand, through the red button, approximately three hours after the end of the race at the same time as the highlights package goes to air on the main channel, according to reports.

If the accounts prove to be correct it will be some solace for angry F1 fans who have been vocal with their displeasure at the deal in which Sky will show all the grands prix next year and the BBC only 10 of the 20-race calendar, including Silverstone, Monaco and the season finale.

When the division of rights was announced at the Hungarian Grand Prix, details were thin on the ground and remain so now. Bernie Ecclestone, who was offering the teams a considerable increase in TV revenue, said it was a "super" deal and the McLaren team principal, Martin Whitmarsh, was confident viewers would not lose out, saying: "Bernie assured me, and I asked him several times, the deferred coverage will not be highlights, it will be a full race."

However Ecclestone responded at the time by insisting that the BBC would be showing only highlights. "We'll have to get the full story," Whitmarsh said, but until now no further details have emerged and, although unlikely to quell dissent from fans, a full deferred rerun will be seen as preferable to a truncated package.

A spokesperson for the BBC said he would not confirm details in reference to reports on prospective coverage at this point but that they would do so in due course.

Wow, thanks a lot!

The practice I mentioned is more for the painting. Getting the layers right makes all the difference with models with this much detail.

I just finished a small plane that I used to get my groove back for a medium size ship I am doing next.

I don't mind making mistakes on a $5 model if it means I will not do those on a $100 model.
