Singapore isn't that expensive.

$150 for a cheap "standing somewhere alongside the track" ticket for Sunday
$300 for the cheapest grandstand, but that's a 3-day ticket

(85-175 EUR; 125-250 USD)

http://www.singaporegp.sg/ticket/ticket_price.php
http://www.formula1.com/tickets_and_travel/ (only has 3-day tickets)
Jesus Christ!... $150 to see some cars pass by? :(

I guess I'll see if I can see something from REALLY FAR away. But how do they control where people stand and all that? I guess they'll have all the roads close to the circuit blocked so they an control who gets in, right? :( Sucks :(

I dont know man. I think you might be imagining that. Most of the time, drivers dont get much of a choice in the matter of where they park their car when they retire. And of the times they do, I rarely see anybody who seems to deliberately position their car in a dangerous manner.

Oh come on now, hamilton did it in canada, shumi did it in monaco and i think last year as well. It does happen.

"Some cars"? Ok, you're banned from this thread.
I was looking at my own post thinking "jeez, people's going to hate me for this...". I guess I was right! :p

Ok, ok, not just "some cars". I definitely wanna see some Formula 1 cars run by at top speed, but I also don't want to spend $150 (Singaporean Dollars) to do it, because while I wanna see it, it's not something I'm really dying for, and I also don't have much money because I just came here to study... :(

Then again Goldrusher, it depends what your definition of expensive is. :p

I'd pay that much money to go to a GP, but I don't have friends who are into F1 but also not uninterested in the sport so that's quite lame. If it was cheaper, maybe I'd get them along.

Same. I really wanted to go this year, but none of my friends could justify the cost of it - they much rather go to festivals.

To be honest though, its nice to be at the track but i'd rather watch it home. The commentary, footage of all the corners in stead of only your corner, and to top it off interview etc.

Also i could not find it anywhere, but what is Adrian Newey contract like? will he be there for the 2013 and 2014 season?

Guys I'm looking to get some high res pictures of the 2009 season. In particular of the ferrari's. Anyone got some good links? I'm looking around myself but having a hard time finding some decent shots.

I try not to think that there is another Senna driving another Lotus early in his career.

But the bastard even looks like his uncle's ghost when on a helmet.

I agree - it is much better watching it on TV. But the experience of being there, hearing the cars, and being part of the crowd is what makes it - but if I go next year, I won't go for another 4-5 years, unless I got offered a pit pass.

I don't remember the Hamilton in Canada incident..Unless you're referring to 2010 qualy, in which case I still don't know what you're on about.

Singapore is expensive enough as it is. Unless you live in one of the buildings along the route or know someone who does, I don't think you'll be able to get more than a glimpse unfortunately. Though you will be able to appreciate these are not just "some cars" from anywhere downtown: the sound these machines make is simply incredible.

I try not to think that there is another Senna driving another Lotus early in his career.

Technically, he's driving a Renault, not a Lotus.

The crowed at Silvertone and at the Spanish GP were the best this year.

The similarities are uncanny.

Manufactured similarities, meh.

The real uncanny similarity is that Bruno is driving for what used to be the Toleman team, where Ayrton started as well, but no one seems to be picking up on that.

I definitely want to go to an F1 race just to experience the atmosphere and hear those engines roar. Unfortunately no one I know is interested in F1. However I decided i'm going on my own next year, i don't live too far from Silverstone and I can't afford to go abroad just for a race weekend. Can't wait until Silverstone 2012.

He.. I know how it is, F1 is expensive. Last time I went was only on Friday and Saturday using the pass from a friend who could only make it to the race.

I'm also lucky enough that my uncle often scores some free passes as well. Back when I was a kid he used to work at Goodyear, now that was awesome! I got to meet Barrichello and sit in his Jordan thanks to that.

My wife and I saw Senna yesterday. Really, really enjoyed it, and it was nice seeing a documentary that wasn't interrupted by interviews and was just footage and narration. It was really awesome seeing the Monaco footage on a big screen and hearing the engine that loud.

1. There's nothing quite like the sound of an F1 car driven in anger in the flesh, even with the neutered V8's we have now.
2. He extended his contract for three more years before the start of the season.

P.S. Mik2121, you have a chance to see the pinacle of motorsport in person, an opportunity that many passionate F1 fans dream about but never actually get a chance to realise. Don't squander this opportunity. It's one of those things a person should try to experience at least once in their lives along with the Le Mans 24 Hours, regardless of you're feelings towards motorsports. It might even ignite something inside you.

I do agree, iv been to my share of races and there is nothing like the sound of an f1 car, and the excitment of a crowd when the cars pass by, but still if i had to choose id rather watch it home.

Also that means he is with red bull till at least 2013, thats nice. Gives them time to look for a replacement would he choose to leave them after that.

Spend 38 bucks and see 3 hours of Friday practice.

I really hope tickets for Austin aren't too expensive.
No clue what people are expecting, but if the weekend was priced around $300 and has a support race or two id be fine with the price. If they are closer to or above $500 I might have to only get race day tickets :(

I'm taking my fiance to see it tonight. So pumped. I'm kind of dragging her - she's not an F1 fan and is going more as a favor than anything - but she loves sports movies (think The Blind Side, Miracle, Remember the Titans, and Rocky) so there's gotta be something for her to enjoy here. Maybe, maybe she'll be inspired and start watching races with me!

Guaranteed she'll like it. Especially if she doesn't know the end :( It's an amazing movie any way you drive it.

I ran through the entire 2010 season in the last week and a half or so and am just starting the 2009 season now...it's fucking weird. Button at Brawn GP (who I know wins the championship...) in a ugly as hell car, Alonso in the worst color scheme car ever with Renault, Kovalainen at McLaren (how'd he end up going to fucking Lotus after that), Vettel was "surprised" to end up 3rd in qualifying with Red Bull, only apparently 10 teams so only 20 cars total on the grid. At least the cars are the shorter style where they apparently have to refuel, they just look so much faster it's awesome.

I might have asked some other time, but where's the best place to get entire seasons? Are there any in HD other than the current one?

Domenicali says 'only two' leaders on F1 grid
"Really, there are only two and they are Fernando Alonso and Michael Schumacher," said Domenicali. "I see no others.

"Vettel is still not a leader. He is on the way there, but it's not like Michael and Fernando. He is simply too young and lacking in experience," he added.

What a load of bollocks.
Pay drivers are the scourge of the F1 grid in terms of preventing young talent from getting opportunities to prove their worth. There's already a dearth of seats available in F1 and this makes it worse.

Fuck, no Ricciardo? He's gotta be upset with that.

Fingers crossed he gets a full drive with STR next year. I reckon he could be decent with a team like that.

Wasn't that announced some time ago?

It was suspected, but I was really hoping that Karthikeyan at least would save himself the inevitable embarrassment in front of his home crowd by not returning.

If I recall rightly, didn't he actually pay HRT to get the drive? I'm not entirely sure.

I'd imagine he'll replace Buemi if anyone. Buemi has been at STR for quite some time iirc.

It's a shame they don't restore the old banking and let people drive around it for recreation.
Probably due to safety concerns considering how steep the banking is. There could be some very horrific accidents with a bunch of amateur racers wanting to show off.

Oh wow, I didn't realise it was that steep

I don't know what the Daytona banking is, but that looks similar.

I thought it was some announcement or statement from Bernie, that both Indian drivers would drive at the Indian GP. You know, for the promo and all.

Would make sense. Alguersuari seems to consistently outperform him, even if it's in some cases a small margin.

i wouldn't be totally surprised if both get the boot.
Algesuari has his highs and lows, Buemi is a lot more consistent but he never reaches the highs of Algesuari

I've been trying to find a place to download entire seasons for some time too. If I recall correctly only a few races were broadcasted in HD last year, I'm not sure. Let me know if you find a website. :)

Will do! I think I can find them all on Usenet (at least 2010, not sure about 09) but I'd rather just get them in one hit.

Same here, I don't want to download individual races. I've found the season review but 3 hours can't be justified as watching a whole season. D:

When did some of you guys start watching Formula 1? I assumed that most people here watched it from at least the 07 season when Hamilton arrived on the scene. Thats when coverage, here in the UK atleast, started ramping up.

Been on and off for a while with varying dedication, but it's really only been the last two years or so that I've *really* gotten into it and stayed through a whole season. Webber's reliability may have had something to do with it ;)
