My earliest memories of F1 are 1999 - 2000.

I didn't watch F1 very much at all through 2005 and 2006 and it wasn't until 2010 that I started to get fully involved in all the politics and everything F1 related.

I've been watching F1 since I was a kid thanks to my father. He lost interest now, mind you.

I haven't been able to watch every race, because of where I live. It's been consistent since 2006 though.

1989 as a four year old kid. Didn't really wholly understand what I was witnessing, but I knew Senna was something special even back then. My dad likened him to Muhammad Ali and I can certainly see why.

The only time my passion waned was in 2002 for obvious reasons.

Trying to think back to my earliest memory of it, 1996 I think it was, I just remember being very young and my uncle teasing me because Damon Hill had beaten Schumacher in a race or for the title, one of the two.

I even remember why I supported Schumacher too, he drove a red car which was the same colour as my favourite football team, Manchester United. Good logic by me at 5 years old.

I've been watching F1 on and off since the early 2000's. 2005 onwards is when I started really appreciating the sport and watching every race.

Since watching F1 i've never seen a season like last year where 5 guys were in contention to win the WDC from the start all the way up to the last race, apart from Button. If we still have the top three teams with the current drivers and they all have competitive cars from the start we could see a new golden era in Formula 1. Hamilton, Button, Vettel, Webber and Alonso competing for the championship year after year will be amazing.

I watched few races in 1996-97 and then I started following it more closely since 1998.

I remember watching Mansell's tire explode live on TV in Australia in 1986 as a kid. I probably didn't start watching full-time till the early 90's on Sunday nights with Alan Jones and Darryl Eastlake. It still remember watching Senna die live on TV to this day.

You guys are making me feel old. I first started watching some races in 86 when the Uas GP started up in Adelaide, and by the early nineties I was a pretty big fan, but coverage on the local tv w2as shit, and there no internet back then so it was kind of hard to keep up with. Since about 95 or 96 I think I've seen every race though except for a few while I was in the Army.

Fucking horrible day. But Big Dazza Eastlake was awesome. So loud, so ignorant, so enthusiastic.

1998-1999 , during the epic hakkinen vs schumi duels (schumi & Ferrari fan btw)

watching the qualies during that period was absolutely nerve wrecking , unlimited runs and no fuel limit and such and hakkinen and schumi being head and shoulders above every1 else , aw man , i miss those days

can never forget the spa grand prix when coulthard slowed down on the racing line and schumi ran into him and then he ran down the pit to have 'have a word' with DC and the beginning of that race where there was a huge 12 car pile up!!

1996 is the first year i watched. I really only remember the australian, spanish, british and japanese grand prix in any detail though. (actually now i really think about it i can remember about 4 more)

Top gear did a fantasy f1 league at the time and for the british grand prix i won. Prize was supposed to be a drive in an f1 car, but i was 8 years old :p Got a nice day of karting at silverstone instead.

I remember watching the Australian Grand Prix when Schumacher was driving a Benetton, so 1995 most likely, but that was the only race I watched for the whole season. (I was 8)

It wasn't until Hakkinen's championship years that I started to get into F1 seriously. Probably from about 2001-02 I've watched every race one way or another.

I watched regularly (though not every race) from about 1995 to 2001/2002. When Schumacher kept winning and Sauber (our National F1 Team) didn't seem to make any progress, i lost interest.

I stumbled upon a race last year mid season (though I just can't remember which one) and since have been trying to catch every race and most of the time they delivered!

I got into it because of my dad, but I must admit I soon lost interest thanks to the superb driving from Schumacher.

It wasn't until the 2010 season and the BBC's excellent coverage that I started to get addicted to it again.

One season with Vettel being dominant is hardly comparable to Schumacher.

If he wins the next 3 years then you can say that.
Pretty much.

Besides, I think the general roster of drivers is better nowadays anyway.

I also don't just care about who wins the race nowadays and instead focus on the whole race.

Yeah the races are so good I don't really care who wins. I want either an exciting championship (last year) or exciting races (this year). If I get one of those two, I'm good.

I'm really struggling to remember when I started watching. Not so much because the races weren't memorable, but for whatever reason my long term memory is shot to shit. Can't seem to remember any of my childhood. :O

Anyway, it was certainly in the days of Mansell, Piquet, Prost and Senna... so I'm guessing 1985 onwards? I think I stopped watching for a while because of university and then again when it became utterly shite for a few years.

Started watching from a young age in the late 80s (as a Brazilian kid, a Sunday was only complete with Senna and F1). I lost interest after Senna passed away, and only saw a full race again this year. It was the Canadian GP and it was so fun that I have been coming back.

I remember watching Damon Hill in 1993 @ the Canadian GP. I didn't really get into it until Villeneuve came as I'm Canadian. Then from there I have been addicted. I loved watching Montoya drive too.

I can't remember ever not religiously following F1. Apparently I was watching in '94 and saw the Imola race but I was too young to remember that properly. I distinctly remember watching the grid run-through of the 1995 Portuguese GP (with the old-school Yellow FOM graphics) and being amused at the name "David Cool-Card". I remember '96 in more detail and remember every season from '97 onwards vividly. Watched every race since then.

Has to be 1995 i think, the best years for me were 1997 untill 2001. I used to watch every race and buy the formula 1 magazine we had in holland here. Still have posters of hakinnen. Stoped watching every race around 2005 till 2007 i think ( still used to watch the key races like monaco and monza ). Have been watching every race again since 2009.
The most horrible time for me personally was 2001 untill 04, i hated shumi's dominance, especially since mika left, and mika failed to win the championship in 2000.

Lol not as bad as my logic why i supported kimi, its because he was from finland as well. Since my favorite driver mika was from there as well. But it was not only that, i loved him in his first season as a rookie. Same story with vettel, not because he was finish but because he reminded me of how kimi was as a rookie.

EDIT: fuck double post =(

Ha, I remember watching the 1998 Spa GP.

I also remember Ralf's huge crash at Indy.

one of the greatest overtakes.

I remember some kind of thing with ralf shumacher being disqualified or something because his car was not up to the regulations and mika winning if im not mistaken.

Heh well Eddie Irvine at Ferrari was another reason to support them, hard to beat national allegiance :p With our country being so small any sports star that makes it big from here you have to get behind them.

He was pretty good actually when shumi broke his leg. Did not make it easy on mika and dc

91 was the first F1 season that i watched regularely. I have seen a couple races in the 80's as a kid but i don't remember much about that only that i choose my favourites by the colors of the cars :p

Since I can remember being a person. One of the first words I remember uttering was "Piquet" so my mother would buy me a little F1 plastic car. I don't remember clearly what was going on, but definitely sitting there watching cars go around the tracks on Globo TV.

I had a hiatus in the 2002-2007 where I didn't watch all races due to many things. Also had a time in the very late 90's where I was more interested in the WRC.

I have watched every race since 1997. Villeneuve's run for the title got me into F1 and have loved it ever since. I used to record the race (VHS) and rewatch them occasionally as well.

The WRC before its downfall was as interesting as F1 especially with likes of Colin McRae, Tommi Mäkinen, Carlos Sainz, Juha Kankkunen, Didier Auriol etc competing. Just not the same anymore.

Its funny to see im not the only one who stopped watching regulary between 02 and 05.

30 now and I still remember the name Lauda being spoken out on TV. And 85 was the last year he raced. So I guess was about 5. My dad always watched so I did too.

Still remember well the day Senna died. Saw it all on TV. Great docu about him was shown later on.

32 now and have been watching since about 1985. Still remember vividly the wins of Belgian driver Boutsen and the duels of Senna vs Prost. The death of Senna really hit hard. Mansell - Hill - Villeneuve - Hakkinen, all incredible years. Interest waned a bit in the Schumi years but thanks to the BBC's stellar coverage I'm fascinated again.

Went for the first time to a F1 race last week in Francorchamps. 150 euro for just sunday. It was nice but I don't think I will be doing this again. It was great to sit in the crowd (we sat at the Pouhon corner) and to listen to the engines, but I watched the race again at home afterwards and it's incredible how much you miss. Especially with all the pitstops today, even though there are large screens on the circuit. Even so, it was quite the experience.

No but italy is def a ferrari or mclaren track, i cant see red bull taking pole there.

Remmebr there is unlimited DRS in qualyfing so it wouldn't be to surprising to see Red Bull get poll in Monza. They should be sitting ducks in the race though.

I started in the mid 80s.

My granpa was the big fan in the family, then dad and I inherited it, me more than dad. I remember watching Hungary in 87 sitting on his knee. I was 6. It was the first race I saw in color, we had black and white TV before that. And also that's the first race I remember. I am sure I saw many before that, I guess that one stuck out because of the color TV.
