1989 as a four year old kid. Didn't really wholly understand what I was witnessing, but I knew Senna was something special even back then. My dad likened him to Muhammad Ali and I can certainly see why.SunhiLegend said:When did some of you guys start watching Formula 1? You guys are making me feel old. I first started watching some races in 86 when the Uas GP started up in Adelaide, and by the early nineties I was a pretty big fan, but coverage on the local tv w2as shit, and there no internet back then so it was kind of hard to keep up with. Since about 95 or 96 I think I've seen every race though except for a few while I was in the Army.SunhiLegend said:When did some of you guys start watching Formula 1? Fucking horrible day. But Big Dazza Eastlake was awesome. So loud, so ignorant, so enthusiastic.bobnowhere said:I remember watching Mansell's tire explode live on TV in Australia in 1986 as a kid. I probably didn't start watching full-time till the early 90's on Sunday nights with Alan Jones and Darryl Eastlake. It still remember watching Senna die live on TV to this day.

I remember watching the Australian Grand Prix when Schumacher was driving a Benetton, so 1995 most likely, but that was the only race I watched for the whole season. It wasn't until the 2010 season and the BBC's excellent coverage that I started to get addicted to it again.
Pretty much.Foliorum Viridum said:One season with Vettel being dominant is hardly comparable to Schumacher.
If he wins the next 3 years then you can say that.

i've been regulary watching since the Hakkinen era. before that i watched some races here and there but nothing regularSunhiLegend said:I've been watching F1 on and off since the early 2000's. 2005 onwards is when I started really appreciating the sport and watching every race.
Since watching F1 i've never seen a season like last year where 5 guys were in contention to win the WDC from the start all the way up to the last race, apart from Button. If we still have the top three teams with the current drivers and they all have competitive cars from the start we could see a new golden era in Formula 1. Hamilton, Button, Vettel, Webber and Alonso competing for the championship year after year will be amazing.

kharma45 said:Trying to think back to my earliest memory of it, 1996 I think it was, I just remember being very young and my uncle teasing me because Damon Hill had beaten Schumacher in a race or for the title, one of the two.
I even remember why I supported Schumacher too, he drove a red car which was the same colour as my favourite football team, Manchester United. Good logic by me at 5 years old.
Ark said:Ha, I remember watching the 1998 Spa GP.
I also remember Ralf's huge crash at Indy.
Omiee said:Lol not as bad as my logic why i supported kimi, its because he was from finland as well. Since my favorite driver mika was from there as well. But it was not only that, i loved him in his first season as a rookie. Same story with vettel, not because he was finish but because he reminded me of how kimi was as a rookie.
kharma45 said:Heh well Eddie Irvine at Ferrari was another reason to support them, hard to beat national allegiance With our country being so small any sports star that makes it big from here you have to get behind them.
The WRC before its downfall was as interesting as F1 especially with likes of Colin McRae, Tommi Mäkinen, Carlos Sainz, Juha Kankkunen, Didier Auriol etc competing. Just not the same anymore.Norante said:Since I can remember being a person. One of the first words I remember uttering was "Piquet" so my mother would buy me a little F1 plastic car. I don't remember clearly what was going on, but definitely sitting there watching cars go around the tracks on Globo TV.
I had a hiatus in the 2002-2007 where I didn't watch all races due to many things. Also had a time in the very late 90's where I was more interested in the WRC.

So yes, I am more hardcore than you.
Omiee said:No but italy is def a ferrari or mclaren track, i cant see red bull taking pole there.

Ha, your blood would just boil in that situation.
F1 needs more characters like him, I mean come on, you don't often see moments like this now
