The Formula 1 2011 Season of Vettel Fingering the Competition |OT|

I believe Alonso standing 2nd this far in the championship is a bit misleading (or he's pulling a miracle as he did winning a couple of races some years ago with that lousy Renault), with the McLaren drivers taking points from each other and Massa rarely if ever finishing ahead of Alonso... but what about Mark ? with such a dominant car he should be at the very least 2nd.

also, Lewis must be raging inside that he's behind his team-mate in every thing that matters in racing: speed, skill, patience, tire management... my dream would be Lewis replacing Mark or Felipe for 2012. Vettel vs Hamilton with that awesome car... or Hamilton vs Alonso both in red, nom nom.

The new rules got bumped back to 2014 and the engine rules changed to 1.6L Turbocharged V6s with 15000rpm limit + ERS a while back. The aero rules will also be based on current rules i.e. no ground effect, but will aim to reduce downforce considerably.

If it was up to Bernie they'd probably be using V12s still, he is completely opposed to the new engine regulations.

the mclarren year with Hamilton and Alonso wasn't that hot for both.

It whould be better if we have 3 or 4 teams with strong drivers and cars.

Engines will be four cylinders, 1.6 litre with high pressure gasoline injection up to 500 bar with a maximum of 12,000 rpm, with extensive energy management and KERS,
modifications to aerodynamic regulations in order to improve the aerodynamic efficiency,
the height of the tip of the nose will be limited to ensure better compatibility in a T-bone style accidents,
limitation on transmissions (gear ratios, number of gearboxes) in order to decrease costs,
overall weight of the car must be no less than 660kg.
Your sources are horribly outdated.

The new engines will be V6 @ 15,000 rpm.

Biggest changes, as of 2014:

- 1.6 litre V6 single-turbo (now: 2.4 litre V8 normally-aspirated)
- 15,000 rpm (now: 18,000 rpm)
- 750bhp (now: same)
- 100kg/h fuel flow limit
- 8 gears transmission (now: 7)
- 120KW KERS (now: 60KW); generated from energy recovery under braking
- exhaust heat energy recovery for the turbo
- engine start button (now: external starters)
- 660 kg minimum weight (now: 640 kg)
- narrower front wings: 1,650mm (now: 1,800mm)
- cars will run on electric power in the pit lane

I dont know, i like how the cars look right now a bit better.

Thank you bbc for this amazing bbc forum again.

And those new rules are not that bad i guess.

what song was that in the ending movie btw?

So Vettel wins the Drivers' Championship in Singapore if:

- He wins the race
- Button or Webber does not finish in 2nd
- Alonso does not get a podium

So a hypothetical Vettel/Hamilton/Button podium wraps things up. Simple as that.

I dont know why but i love this a bit more.[/QUOTE]

The nose is ugly, the rear wing is too small and the front wing is too cluttered with other small wings. It's not as bad as the horrible 2008-2009 cars, but still a mess.

Yeah thats what I thought too.

Its no secret the crowd is biased towards an Italian driver being on the podium or at least a Ferrari driver.

Back to the previous discussion: old F1 designs please! :(

Honestly I hope they don't come anywhere close to the BBC coverage.

I want it to bite them in the arse.

They'll be able to, they'll be able to throw loads of cash at it to make it a success. It'll be a smaller audience but still be top notch coverage.

The latest ones look really high-tech, but spoilt (geddit?) by a front wing that is too wide and a rear wing that is too tall and not wide enough.

OK, here is a non-biased opinion from a F1 fan on the Schumacher/Hamilton battle and some other topics.

MSC was definitely driving on the edge of what is deemed to be legal at times and probably crossed the line a time or two (pushing HAM out wide) thus Brawn gets on the radio twice and delivers the msg. I think HAM also made the moves MSC was making seem a little more severe because there were multiple times where HAM would run up on the outside or inside where I saw no realistic opportunity to overtake. When he did that MSC would maybe make a move and then return to his racing line in preparation for a corner and essentially cut HAM off due to his position. But when the attempted overtaker doesn't have the right to be in that position ie doesn't have any part of his car in front of the car being overtaken, and doesn't really have a chance to complete the overtake I don't really see a problem with it. I think there are too many instances where the car being overtaken yields unnecessarily and doesn't fight for the position enough. Sure it can end in tears but isn't it the responsibility of the overtaking driver to back out or take the contact in that situation unless they have established a clear advantage?

My diagnosis: thoroughly entertaining RACING and the Old One still has a lot of fight in him.

Now, whether or not if the positions were reversed would HAM have been reprimanded for protecting his position the way MSC did? I don't know. But, MSC being the most successful driver in F1 history is going to give him a little advantage. ALG talked about feeling like a god in his car but MSC was a god.

When HAM is on it, he is absolutely brilliant to watch and he will always be held in high regard in my book because of his enthusiasm for the tracks and passion that he outwardly shows (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7R9IYRRFFvQ&t=1m33s). He makes me smile because he totally gets how special getting to drive a grand prix car really is.

I will never forget his eagerness to start that race last year in Korea when other drivers were saying that the conditions were not fit to run and he was chomping at the bit to get going. That enthusiasm and passion can kind of bite him at times because he can be over aggressive but that aggression and passion is what makes him brilliant so it has to be a balancing act. When you are trying to get by Schumi you best take the caution side a little more serious because the guy you are trying to get by has the same mindset. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ch-XFHa8upI&t=2m03s

Button is absolutely a great driver and continues to show race after race this year that his championship was not a fluke. He is extremely versatile and is producing some great spectacles this season.

Vettel definitely has some balls and proudly displayed them today with that overtake on Alonso.

Monza and Le Mans are without a doubt the two best podiums in Motorsport and maybe all sports.

Congrats to Bruno on his points paying finish.

SunhiLegend: Those gifs are amazing and you deserve a tag for your efforts for contributing to the F1 thread like you are.

AND finally, BBC continues to deliver us incredible coverage and productions every grand prix weekend. There is not a chance in hell of Sky living up to this.

Now, time for me to nap and begin my preparations for F1 2011 GAF championship. I won't be sounding like I am in a submarine this year!

I have to say, the new Silverstone podium is pretty decent, but you are right.

How can anyone not like Vettel?

I'm sick of his domination, but it's thoroughly deserved and I don't begrudge him any of his success. His move on Alonso today was mighty.

Easy move when you have superior car.

Wow, after doing a Google search of her name I've become very disappointed.

Those camera angles when Vettel is being interviewed are very flattering.

Illusion destroyed :(

Oh well, I still have Lee.
