How was it that McLaren were numbered 22 and 23 on their car in the 2008 season?

Also, what do you guys think of Yas Marina? I know a lot of drivers praise it but I want to know what the fans do.

McLaren got excluded from constructor championship in 2007, because of the spy controversy, so they were last in 2007 and got the corresponding numbering on their car.

Yeah, completely forgot about that when watching the 2009 season review!

For those complaining about not being able to watch all the races next year, I will and have been uploading them to my server! So PM me for access :) I also upload a bunch of other car related stuff!

About the race, people comment how Fernando can out drive his car but what about Button & Hamilton? Button has been doing amazing. I like Lewis but come on man, cheer up during the interviews!

And Senna! When I saw that first corner accident and saw a black & gold car get wiped I was madly trying to make out the helmet to make sure it wasn't Bruno. Excellent race from Bruno and Alguersuari too.

I have some good pictures coming up!

I think if Sam Michaels is heading to Mclaren his role probably won't be as pronounced as it was at Williams, interesting choice though.

Thanks. There's very little hand brushing to do, thankfully. Mostly just little details. Most of the coverage is with rattle cans.

Love it, the atmosphere is great, the track is good and it just looks so nice to be honest.

Hand brushing is so hard. T_T
I used to make plane models when i was slightly younger. Hand brushing sucked.
I wished i had an air spray gun.

Edit: I was thinking of something else.

I don't like driving the circuit that much in F1, looks nice though. Oh and they have an idiotic pit exit.

Would you pay for high ticket prices to go there? The ticket gives access to Ferrari World too.

Definitely, im thinking of going to family over there so i wont have to pay for a hotel or anything like good and stuff. So i could spend the money on a ticket. I really hope i can go there next year.

Team Lotus poised to change name in 2012.

I still despise Group Lotus for what they've done, they're the only corporation on the grid I actively dislike. I support the Renault-Lotus team, but I loath the company behind it (I have no views on Gennii Capital).

Team Lotus changing their name really is the only sensible solution. Promoting a rivals brand towards a massive audience is silly, to put it simply. Caterham or AirAsia would make far more sense, since those are now brands that Fernandes actually owns.

Also;

Fernandes wants Chandhok to race in the Indian Grand Prix.

Nothing would make me happier than seeing Chandhok racing at his home Grand Prix, beating Karthikeyan in the HRT.

Lastly;

Di Resta’s points help team pass Sauber.

Force India getting 6th in the Constructors Championship would be incredible. They're best results ever if I'm not mistaken. Especially considering The Hulk pushed Williams ahead of Force India by one point at Abu Dhabi last year.

Just in case anyone hasn't seen it;

Jenson Button 'closed eyes' when overtaking Schumacher.

Nothing to say, just a great interview.

Pit exit feels like a shopping mall garage exit =P

Tickets cost 2,000 aed for 3 days access which is kinda of a lot for me D:

I'm trying to go there this year but the main grand stands are sold out!

Because of the Chapman days?

They share very little aside from the name.

Group Lotus has never been involved in F1 until Singapore last year.

The Team Lotus brand appears in F1 under 'new ownership' of Tony Fernandes, they get huge amounts of support from the fans, media, etc etc. All of a sudden, Group Lotus decides that they want to start getting in to Motorsport too and try to stop Fernandes from using the Team Lotus name through the UK High Court. Fernandes won the case, and he owns the rights to the Team Lotus name (feel free to correct where wrong).

Equally so, barely a week after Team Lotus announce that they are considering using a black & gold livery for 2011, Lotus-Renault announce that they will be running with a black & gold livery for 2011.

At the end of the day, Group Lotus is owned by Proton. And to me, the entire situation more or less looks like Proton just trying to throw it's weight around.

EDIT:

To top it off, the Chapman family had already given Fernandes their blessing (and his hat, to be thrown in the event of a win), and David Hunt (who sold them the Team Lotus name (I think it was David Hunt, name rings a bell, I'm not 100% sure though)) did likewise. Fast forward a few months and they suddenly decide to completely change their stance and start telling Fernandes to abandon the Team Lotus branding and give it to it's 'rightful owners' Group Lotus.

Such a shame, though. I always picture Lotus colours to be green and yellow, not black and gold. I like the ring of "Caterham F1" though (as was suggested in a news blurb via a Google news feed).

Button did some demo laps in the tiny village of Roggel in The Netherlands.
Organised by Vodafone to promote the town's fiber internet, which is Vodafone's first in the country.

- 2.6km long circuit through and around the town
- including a country road newly asphalted for the occasion
- Button hit speeds of over 260 kph (160 mph)

Photos: http://www.f1today.nl/fotos/vodafone-f1-grand-prix-in-roggel.html

And some videos: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=button+roggel&aq=f

That's pretty cool. It must have been really weird for the folks of that wee village seeing an f1 car on the streets they drive up and down every day.

A lot of those designs I really like, but many are just vulgar.

Ah right.

The whole Lotus situation really is a complete headache. :p

True.

The F2004 was restrained because of the rule changes that came into effect that year. Plus, the F2002 won at Spa, something the F2004 failed to do.

Here's a pic I took of the boss celebrating his Interlagos 2002 win while he entered the pits, just for you :)

I know someone on here asked for pictures of the MP4/5B I'm working on. Keep in mind I'm no master model maker but I do put some effort into it.

http://i.imgur.com/HuGBX.png

Started with the engine. The cables will be painted black but they are bare metal for now since I cannibalized them from twist ties. The clear hose and connector will be redone to simulate a braided hose. I've still got more detail work to do so I'll post more pictures as I progress.

As before, if anyone has any reference pictures for the 1990 MP4/5B engine, cockpit or without the monocoque I'd be greatly appreciative. Now to work on the preview.

Missing the seat and wheel, obviously.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!

Nothing would please me more as an F1 fan than to see Sauber work their way up the grid and achieve some genuine success in the future.

Even though he sucked this season, Kobayashi is still Super KK for me.

They've been around for ages, a competitive car and some success would be nice, yeah.

I'm okay with the design of the Merc and the Ferrari's. Screw the people who think it's ugly. I want my 2015 future scifi shit that I was promised as a kid.

Seems like some of the manufacturers agree with your sentiment.

The BMW i8 is also at the Frankfurt Motorshow 2011.

Concepts are great and all, but the manufacturers never have the balls to releases cars with those designs.

That's the future right there folks.

Interesting. I would like to see some of the papers about this as I am sure it will lead back to my Honours Dissertation.
