I don't hate him but the dude is a menace on the track. Which is doubly hilarious if you look at some of his past comments about dangerous driving.

Absolute bollocks. If Vettel's car did not break down so much last year he would have comfortably secured the title. Vettel already demonstrated his class in 2008 by winning at Monza in the rain, he is far from a mediocre driver. Definitely psychological vulnerable but as far as talent goes his is undeniable.

Vettel's fine, the only problem I have with him is that, this season he's coming off a bit cocky imo. His speeches in the press conferences are ten times longer than last year.

One reason I don't like Hamilton is that he is such a spoilt brat. He has never driven for a team that cannot compete for the title. He has always had a championship winning car (excluding the first half of 2009 but then again everyone else were lagging behind Brawn), and when his car is not quick enough he complains about everything and feels as if his team is not doing a good enough job.

How can you be a long-time F1 fan and post that?

So to be a good world champion, you have to have driven for a shit team? Senna only spent 2 years in a poor car. How is the guy a spoilt brat? He got his McLaren partnership thing when he was ~13, he still had to fight and drive his way through each formula.

The year Hamilton won GP2, he only claimed one pole position, out of ~16 races. So what if he's always had a championship winning car? Clark always had a competitive car at Lotus.

Care to provide a link to a non-twisted interview where Hamilton complains about McLaren not being good enough? Because from where I'm sitting, Hamilton always praises the team first time when he wins or they have a great car for the weekend. It's always the first thing he does, on the radio, in the interviews, and the press conferences.

Don't know why you're picking on Hamilton when he complains the car isn't quick enough. Half the damned grid does exactly the same thing. How pissed off would you be knowing that you're putting in 110% and the car just isn't quick enough?

I think Webber is a petty, annoying whiner. I don't hate him, but it definitely puts a smile on my face when he retires.

Webber is a whinger, i don't dislike him just rather he got on with the job, he can do it when he puts his mind to it, as we saw last race

I copied this from someone on F1technical.

Vettel: It was a very exciting qualifying with both Ferrari drivers pushing me to the limit.
Button: Why is he talking about Ferrari pushing him?
Hamilton: It's the suit. We wanted to make him believe that Ferrari is just behind him. Tomorrow we will have our normal suits again and we will scare the hell out of him.
Button: Nice!

BBC Sport has learnt that an error caused Alonso's DRS to 'offset' on that lap. That meant it was not enabled until 300m before the end of the straight, and was then available after the corner for a short time. This meant that he gained no advantage from the situation - in fact it actually caused him a disadvantage - so was given no penalty.

FIA officials are still investigating what caused the error.

I haven't been following F1 nearly as long as some of you guys so I don't really have any disdain for Schumacher. Alonso is the only driver that I don't like but I respect his talent and skill.

I don't get why DRS is regulated.
It's regulated so the leading car can't activate it to avoid being passed. If all drivers could use DRS whenever they wanted, it would effectively be useless.

I don't get why DRS is regulated. I bet the next thing Bernie will come up with are power-ups you have to enable by driving over certain symbols on the track.

When I read that, I couldn't help but think of an f-zero type area along the home straight you would drive through to either recharge kers or get bonus energy. And if I'm honest, I couldn't help but think that would be awesome!

Vettel lost just as many points crashing into his rivals then through mechanical failures last year.

Also he almost lost monza to hamilton who started from 16th if memory serves, the rest of the field were held up by a trulli train but hamilton still almost had it until it dried just 2 laps too soon.

So much truth in this post. A lot of the complaints most people have about Hamilton come off as a bit desperate. Someone mentioned about him lying to the stewards as a reason to hate and whilst I don't agree with his actions I fail to see how he could have better handled that situation given the circumstances. He was still fresh to a team which he had dreamed of working for and naturally was probably impressionable enough to follow their advice regardless of personal opinion. I think that might well be one of the reasons that he ended up disobeying their orders in the years that followed (alongside his need to just race). I really don't see much of a reason to hate the guy, particularly since he's been making inroads in terms of listening and responding to good advice etc, but each to their own I guess. Vettel is a cocky git but he does have his nice ways. I'm hoping that he manages himself well and doesn't end up a nutter with success. If a Redbull car was to win this season I'd much rather it be Webber.

He could have told the truth? And he wasn't exactly fresh, he was the reigning champion that year.

More sarcasm than anything else. Though if you forgot he existed and can say you hate him, okay.

I've said it before, I just find him the most entertaining on the track. The amount of times he's made my friend freak out during a race, for better or worse, has made him extremely fun for me. Mounting in the rain 09 never forget.

arghh the wait for Turkey is just too long.
Talking of Renault, I found development Petrov quite impressive so far (espeically compared to last year). I was sure he would screw up his third place in Australia, even if it had to be on the last lap :P

I doubt McLaren would have done anything but give him the push when it came to renewing his contract if he exposed his team that way.

He could have told the truth to the stewards immediately. No one would have lied by then and he wouldn't be exposing anyone.

How can you forget his 2008 season? He even won a race and started one on pole that season. 6 podiums and equal amount of points as Kimi Raikonnen.

Good times.

In all fairness, he only won because Hamilton became abnormally attracted to Kimi's Ferrari in the pits.

Nevertheless, Kubica & Di Resta are two drivers I want to see in one of the top 3.

LMAO! xD

And Di Resta seems to be an amazing driver too.

I'm pretty sure you *will* see Di Resta in the top three very soon. Getting points in his first three races in a car which is barely middle-tier... he'll be right up there for sure.

Sure, but he still drove a solid race. That BMW was not capable to win on its own.

Speaking of drivers, this may a stupid question but has Mario Andretti been an F1 driver as well as an Indy driver? Or has he been strictly Indy? If he used to drive F1, how good was he? I've see his name mentioned several dozen times in the past but don't know his history.

he was in a Torro Rosso while Hamilton was in a McLaren....of course Hamilton was going to be faster

the Vettel hate is a bit over the top.....

I'm sorry but there's nothing about epic about that, it was the most farcical thing I've witnessed while watching F1. It set back F1 in the states for many years and only now is the US close to having a GP again.
Epicaly sad. ;P

Renault pushing for 'perfect' weekends.

Am I the only person who has huge respect for Boullier? He took on the team principle job at Renault having never worked for the team before (IIRC) and seems to have really helped turn things around and being on top of the whole restructuring they had.
It doesn't seems so hard to be a better boss than Briatori. xD

interesting and extremely accurate article by Hughes on Massa.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/formula_one/13135902.stm

he is right that Massa had a good race and i feel it puts to rest all the rumours that the accident muted him somehow. Massa was always Massa, but he did struggle and was destroyed by Alonso last year.

yet, i think China was a false dawn for him. This year will produce many ups and downs for drivers, look at Hammy in KL and china, tires played a HUGE part.

on the scoreboard, it looks like he 'beat' alonso in all the races this year, but KL was on incident not on pace. alonso did have a bad race in china.
of course results are only counted but the season isnt over and the scores arent being totaled yet.

Alonso will ass-blast him over the season, so Massa needs to be showing that he has something to give... another team.

During his career, Andretti won four IndyCar titles (three under USAC-sanctioning, one under CART), the 1978 Formula One World Championship, and IROC VI. To date, he remains the only driver ever to win the Indianapolis 500 (1969), Daytona 500 (1967) and the Formula One World Championship, and, along with Juan Pablo Montoya, the only driver to have won a race in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, Formula One, and an Indianapolis 500.

No American has won a Formula One race since Andretti's victory at the 1978 Dutch Grand Prix.[1] Andretti had 109 career wins on major circuits.[2]

An Australian map site that does aerial photos every few months just updated with photos taken of Melbourne on April 6th.

Here is the Albert Park circuit with some parts like the paddock and some grandstands still being dismantled if anyone's interested in how it looks outside of the race weekend. If you get some signup screen appearing just tick at the bottom and you can skip it.

It was definitely interesting if not entertaining. I watched mostly because I wanted to see how the podium and press conference would play out. That year was the first (and thus far only) time I've seen a GP live and I had a choice between going to Montreal and Indy. I'm definitely glad I decided on Montreal.

What happened at Indianapolis? Why was there only 6 cars on the grid? In fact why did they even start the race with 6 cars on the grid?

That happened during the period I stopped watching F1. I remember hearing about it... so embarrassing.

I'd actually like to watch it out of curiosity. Might torrent it if I can.
