Oh cool, how exactly did you win it?
I won in a Serra's promotion on Twitter. He asked his followers to try to guess his qualy lap time in the brazilian GT3 championship, and I was the one who came closest. He got the pole and I with the cap. =D

Austin track under construction. Turn 1 is in the picture. Steep and sharp. Should be fun to watch.

Or maybe not 1. Looks more like 8/9.

It doesn't matter what corner it is, the whole track has huge changes in elevation.

This Tilkedrome actually looks like it might produce some half-decent racing.

But....long straights again >_>

I remember everything so vividly. It may be difficult for newer or foreigner fans to grasp the magnitude of the loss.

For everyone in the US the documentary Senna is available now on Netflix streaming. It's an absolutely incredible film and well worth watching.

Hot diggity. I watched it a while ago but it didn't have English subs at the time. Will have to re-watch it on netflix now. :)

It seems a particularly relevant time to watch it too, with the discussion about the safety of the DRS. I think when enough time passes with no serious incident it becomes easy to take for granted that the cars will always be safe enough and that no accidents will have serious repercussions. You always have to strike a balance between entertainment and safety, but you can't sacrifice safety for the sake of a more entertaining show. Formula 1 will always be inherently dangerous but you can't risk becoming complacent on safety. No one should ever have to die for this.

Is it in HD?

Unfortunately no. At least it wasn't yesterday when I started it. Looked glorious for the few seconds that I did watch. I'm saving it for a rainy day where I can really take it in.

The final decision on the Bahrain GP has been pushed again till 3rd June. This is the 2nd time they have delayed cancelling it.
Bernie must really want it to go ahead or is there a big payout clause if its cancelled by the FIA rather than Bahrain government?

All Bernie sees is $$, €€ etc.

What will happened when he dies? Will they build Bernie Eccelstone memorial circut with his coffin in the middle?

He will be buried beneath the starting grid at Monaco.

His tomb will be designed by Tilke and built at the cost of $2bn. It will be used for 4 years before his body is moved and it falls into complete disuse.

If Bahrain cancels, they pay. If FIA does, they pay. So no one wants to be the one to cancel.

They will probably forced this GP, but how will it look? Army shooting spectators on grand stand and sniping pit crews? Or there will be 1000 people on stands all together?

Certain teams said there was a consensus amongst the grid that if the original date wasn't cancelled that they would skip the race. If it's rescheduled there's the possibility that none of the teams would show up.

As hero said above, the teams would likely boycott the race and not even show up if there is still unrest. For one their safety could not be guaranteed, nor that of spectators.

Yeah, it's no longer available for me either. Maybe it was up for one day to commemorate his death? Really lame if so, I was planning on watching it again soon.

Sam Michaels & Jon Tomlinson shown the door at Williams:

Williams have announced technical director Sam Michael and chief aerodynamicist Jon Tomlinson have resigned.

The pair will leave at the end of the year following the team’s poor start to the season. Williams are yet to score a point after three races.

The team issued the following statement

“Williams F1 today announced that technical director, Sam Michael, and chief aerodynamicist, Jon Tomlinson, have resigned from their positions within the company, to take effect at the end of 2011.

Frank Williams, Team Principal, said: ‘Both Sam and Jon are talented and driven people who have worked hard for Williams over 10 and five years respectively.

‘Nonetheless, they have recognised that the team’s performance is not at the level that it needs to be and have resigned in order to give the team the opportunity to regroup and undertake the changes necessary to get back to the front of the grid.

‘Both will continue to work in their present positions through until the end of the year to ensure that the team maintains focus and momentum during the 2011 season. We are very grateful to Sam and to Jon for their professional approach.’”

Former McLaren spygate engineer joins Williams:

Mike Coughlan, a key figure in the 2007 ‘spygate’ scandal, will return to Formula 1 with Williams.

The team have announced he will join them as chief engineer next month.

Coughlan worked for McLaren from 2002 until 2007, when he left the team after he was discovered to have been involved in the exchange of confidential Ferrari information with Nigel Stepney.

He previously worked for Lotus, Benetton, Tyrrell and Arrows.

Team principal Frank Williams said: “Mike Coughlan is a fine engineer with extensive experience across Formula 1 and both civil and defence engineering.

“He left Formula 1 in 2007 because of conduct which he acknowledges was wrong and which he profoundly regrets. His two year ban from the sport expired some time ago and Mike is now determined to prove himself again.

“Williams is delighted to be able to give him the opportunity to do this and we are very pleased to have one of the most talented and competitive engineers in the sport helping us to return to the front of the grid. This is the first step in re-building and strengthening our technical group. We will announce the next steps as they develop.”

Coughlan said: “I am grateful to Williams for giving me this opportunity.

“My experience in 2007 was life-changing. Since then, I have endeavoured to put my skills to good use in the design of the Ocelot vehicle whose purpose is to transport soldiers in safety. I have also enjoyed my time with Michael Waltrip Racing: they are an excellent race team and I wish them well for the future.

“Now, I am looking forward to returning to a sport which I love and to joining a team that I have admired for many years. I will dedicate myself to the team and to ensuring that we return to competitiveness while respecting the ethical standards with which Williams has always been synonymous.”

That's a shame for Sam, but understandable as the team have had little success since he became technical director in 2004, in fact it's been all downhill expect for a decent 2007 (finishing fifth, and been promoted to fourth after McLaren's exclusion).

Yeah, seems like a nice bloke, but wasn't getting the job done.

I'm just surprised they actually have some new developments. Hopefully the parts work out well.

I'm so upset I didn't stream Senna on Neflix when I had the chance! :/ I really hope they put it back up soon.

How would they gather useful data during the filming?
