It will be an absolutely dominant 1-2 pole for RBR, Vettel on 1. The RBR seems to be incredibly soft on the tyres here. While most did 3-4 lap stints on the soft tyres in FP2.
RBR did 5-6 laps, and Vettel set his fastest time on the 6th lap. I expect them to break the 1.24 in Q3 tomorrow.

Mcl seems to have caught up to Ferrari thou, their times seem to be comparable in FP2, but maybe Mcl pushed more today as they had to test out their new package.

Vettel's 22 lap stint in FP2 was very ominous, his lap times were consistent and at a very good pace.

Yeah because if the voice of the girl I love in my ear annoys sometimes during a race, what I want to do is hop on Mumble and have half a dozen voices in my ear! Not to mention you'd go "WOOOOOOOOOOAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" way more than you do in F1 2010 races I imagine :p

Anyway, the more banter we can generate during F1 the better. F1 is great to watch, but even better when you can share the fun.

While that of course is an option we were referring to a Mumble server we frequent.

I agree with SL that RBR have great pace and consistency but don't rule out Button.

He also set his best lap on his 5th out 6-lap stint so he was able to save something for a good time.

i'd be up for some text chat, but i don't really want to listen to some drunk Australians screamingly confessing their eternal webber love on some voice chat while i'm trying to listen to the race/race commentary

I MAY be around for Steam chat. But to be honest, I prefer Martin Brundle's company over everyone else's any day of the week, so I may not be arsed.

Will the BBC web site be streaming quali/race in HD, or is it just through the TV?

99% sure they only stream SD.

That's why I'm waiting for the races/quali to go up on iPlayer.

Also, it warms my heart you and I share the same passion for commentary. We'd sit together in silence, pint in hand, appreciating the beautiful moment we were sharing. Brings a tear to my eye.

Edit: Yeah the BBC 1 live stream is now showing Eastenders which is shot in HD but no option for HD is there.

Sad bastards more like.

Moving swiftly on, it would be lovely to have a HD stream live form the BBC online but until the BBC buys the entire bandwidth of the UK, that wont happen.

How long does it take for the HD iPlayer version to go live? I assume it takes longer than the SD one?

I may have to look into getting a Freeview HD box. Hmm.

I may have to upgrade my Virgin to HD too if BBC don't stream HD online.

Can't decide on my fantasy setup :( two lotus drivers plus lotus/torro chassis/engine seems the best bet because the other two low teams won't even get to race :(

Any opinions?

The cars and circuit looks stunning in HD. Why weren't we spoiled like this many seasons ago?

I think the onboard cameras are not HD. It looks more like upscaled SD with very good bitrate.

IIRC This is correct, would be a tad more difficult to get those onboard cams to true HD.

At least we get to see EJ's sweaty pits in HD!! Lol.

Theres also FI/FI with weaker drivers. Or TR/TR as well.

Just remembered I had to set up my V+ box. Would have been seriously annoyed had I woken up tomorrow to find that nothing had recorded!

(Though not as annoyed as I would have been on Sunday)

10:30pm and I'm going to bed, first time in years, haha. Learnt from my mistakes last year of going to bed at 2am and waking up at 6am.

Do the weaker drivers who don't get to race still earn points? If so id totally go with a better setup but right now I think I have the best of everyone who should race :/

i think they don't get points or last places points which is virtually nothing.
last season hrt was a decent 'bad' team as they were somewhat reliable, so they would profit from DNFs of other cars. this season will be different i guess.

So, in Australia we're seeing James Allen on our local channel... still not sure whether we're getting some kind of local broadcast or the BBC feed like we usually do (with occasional Australian commentary). Certainly good to have someone like him on board, though.

So, it's nearly 3am here in the UK, anyone else stupid enough to ahve got up for FP3?

The BBC Stream hasn't even started yet, so I am obviously very keen this time, but this should be the first time we actually see any semblance of qualifying pace. I expect RBR to be back on top this morning, but what of the battle between Ferrari & McLaren? And will Mercedes be the team to follow them or is Williams the surprise 4th team here?

All I know is that I'm excited.

So, all the cars (HRT don't count) have completed their first laps and have managed not to crash this time, so that's good.

So, according to Whitmarsh at McLaren, the KERS system is worth around 3-4tenths of a second while in Qualifying the DRS is worth pretty much double that at 8tenths. KERS costs a shedload and doesn't do much, yet a little flexible wing does a heck of a lot more? Sounds like F1 to me! Going off that I wonder if we'll see the 2009 esque situation where KERS is ditched because frankly, it's extra weight & nothing more in some races?

My word, the HRT exists and can actually start? Shocker!

Edit: The HRT has parked out on track, so it got to...turn 4? HAHA!

HRT couldn't finish 1 lap

HRT is also using their aero package from last year, not the one that was in renders

Maldonado has decided he wanted to say hello to the gravel, going in far too hot into turn 6/7.

Anyway, so RBR wanted DRS bannwed for Quali etc and weren't too keen on the system in the first place? Of course their car has always been aero focussed and the system probably doesn't help them much.

Anyway, that new UI used in the overhead cam shots looks very nice, Codemasters better use it for their UI in F1 2011.

Button may be fast, but the other cars haven't ran on the Soft tyres as yet. Watch as the RBRs kill everyone in around 10 minutes.
