In retrospect sacking Damon Hill wasnt a bad choice with Villenueve going on to win the championship the next year. Damon would have added nothing as the year after they were nowhere due to engine shenanigans. I much prefer the way it ended up with Frentzen and Hill going to Jordan to impart some knowledge.

Yeah, but you can't beat the specialised knowledge of the F1 gaffers. :D

God knows what "pictures of old f1 cars" would have got me.

Edit - Apparently it got me an android racing app. =/

Favourite car: 1998 F1 Ferrari.
Favourite year: 1998 because the McLaren was clearly superior so Schumacher had to summon all the gods of his driving gift and brought home some awesome wins including a stunning drive at the Hungaroring.
Those were good years.

I think they were nowhere more because Adrian Newey left.

FYI, ESPN2 is showing Senna, the movie, right now. I just caught it by chance. I've seen it before, but I'll watch it again. PEACE.

Finished watching the race.

1. Fuck Maldonado.
2. Schumi's bad luck streak continues
3. Despite what people say, Hungarian Grand Prix has always been the most boring and always will be. Ridiculous DRS zone, no long straights, everything is a curve, no lane for overtaking (and if there is one, will backfire in the next turn). Kimi is the only one who made it exciting but even he admitted the scenario 10 laps or so prior to finishing that there is no way he is going to overtake. Everyone taking places due to pitstop is not a fun way to watch the race.

Favourite car you say? Easy, Lotus 98T:

That black and gold...

Favourite season? As a huge Senna fan, season 1993. Senna may not have won that season, but he sure did one 4 times world champion, one one time world champion and one seven times world champion, look like noobs in Donington. All in just one lap.

Favourite car: 1996 Williams FW18. This was the first year i watched f1 so to me this defines what an f1 car is. Honourable mention to Ferrari F2002 and F2004 which won so hard they had to change the rules.

Favourite season: Im going to cheat and say 1996-2001.

Fuck, looks like none of the changes I chose went through (or I thought I did but didn't save them due to a locked d/b or something) so I dropped 13 places. Fuck.

At least I have 18mil to play with!

#2 in F1RM, and within striking distance of 1st. I have enough cash to make some nice changes for the next race, especially once I get the bonus money. The last two races had some easy bets, so that money has come in handy. I'm winning it all this year, folks. If Pastor wasn't such a knob, I might be in first place already. PEACE.

Didn't watch the race until late last night. Really pleased for Hamilton. Glad that slightly extended stop didn't cost him another victory.

Saw this from Horner on Autosport today.

"The bottom line is that the result sheet comes out at the end of qualifying and the end of the race, and the car complies with the regulations," he said after the Hungarian Grand Prix. "All the rest is all bullshit.

"At the end of the day it is down to the FIA and the stewards to decide whether the car is legal or not. Every single time our car has been questioned by other teams, it has always complied with the rules."

As well as the engine mapping and ride height adjustment issues, Red Bull has also had to make changes to its floor design and wheel hubs this year following intervention from the FIA at various races.

Red Bull is no stranger to being in the firing line of other teams. The outfit was repeatedly dogged through its title winning 2010 and 2011 campaigns by suggestions its flexi-wing technology was a breach of the rules.

Horner added: "Of course the nature of F1 is that it is competitive, but the regulations are written in such a way that they are open to interpretation.

"From HRT to Red Bull, every single team interprets the rules, otherwise every single car would look the same. Part of our strength is our ingenuity and I don't think we should be criticised for being creative."

The reason for McLaren's poor performance and race cock-ups has been found. Still using Windows XP, RBR using Windows 7..

I don't know enough about this era of Formula 1, but Edmond Dantès posted this a few threads back and I've been in love with it ever since.

The Eagle Mk1. I really like early 90's McLarens also, but this gal here is the Queen for me.

Watched the race today, though I spoiled myself of the winner. Wasn't all that exciting this time around, I'm still close in the fight but still have to juggle my options as I can't get out of bottom tier driver hell (Petrov).
Hungarian women my friend. I need to go back to the homeland soon.

Short on F1 news at the moment so Pirelli have said they are bringing the medium and hard compounds to Spa and Monza.
Should make a 1-stop race possible at Monza for sure.

Oh.

Shit.

Son.

Anthony Hamilton sues Paul di Resta

Force India’s Paul di Resta is facing legal action from former manager and father of Lewis Hamilton, Anthony. The proceedings will take place in the High Court next Monday, British newspaper The Telegraph is reporting.

...

Hamilton is suing di Resta for what he claims was a ‘wrongful termination of contract and loss of earnings’. In his defence papers, the 26-year-old driver from Uphall, West Lothian claims that he had been misled over a multi-million pound sponsorship deal with the Go Fast energy drink company. Reportedly, Hamilton claimed it was logical to buy di Resta’s sports drink rights from Force India and informed his driver that they were worth two million euros (£1.56m). It is believed di Resta queried this with Force India in China, learning that they were in fact worth only one million euros (£800,000). It is at this point that di Resta is believed to have split with Hamilton.

Double DRS and mid-season testing is banned in 2013.

Formula 1 teams agree to ban double DRS for 2013

Mercedes DRS wingDouble DRS will be banned for 2013, AUTOSPORT has learned, after Formula 1 teams agreed to a change of rules that will outlaw the concept for next year.Following discussions at F1 rules think-tank, the Technical Working Group, sources have revealed that a majority of teams agreed for a change in regulations that will ensure they cannot incorporate double DRS into their cars for 2013.

...

Although Mercedes did not support the change in rules, because it had made such a headstart in the area, it could not stop the ban going through as it only needed a majority of teams to agree.

Formula 1's mid-season test dropped for 2013

Formula 1 teams have abandoned the idea of a extra mid-season test in 2013, after agreeing plans for just three pre-season tests next year.

Technical chiefs learned that the three tests before the start of the 2012 campaign gave them enough mileage to be prepared for the first race, so teams have decided that there is no need for a fourth week of running as had happened previously.

With the opening race of the 2013 season pencilled in for March 17 in Australia, teams are ready to commit to beginning their on-track efforts with a four-day test that begins at Jerez in Spain on February 5.

Following that, there will be two further tests at Barcelona. The first will run from February 19-22, while the second will take place from February 28 to March 3.

Should the season opener take place any earlier than March 17, then the tests will have to be reshuffled.

This year, as well as the three pre-season tests, teams also had the opportunity for a mid-season test, which took place at Mugello after the first flyaway races.

However, as part of a cost-saving package agreed between the teams, it was decided that the expenditure needed for that event was too high considering the limited benefits it actually delivered, so the idea of a repeat has been dropped.

I hate all these rules. Imagine if we got to test all season long and we had no bans on tech making the cars faster.

I hate the fact that FIA is trying to limit the pinicale of motorsport. Just let them race with the fastest cars they can design.
