The gaming franchise/single game subreddits with the most members

I was curious about as to what the biggest subreddits revolving around a gaming franchise or single game are and came across https://www.reddit.com/best/communities/1/ which lists every subreddit with the most members in general. I found it interesting what I came to find once I compiled the game subreddit numbers and felt to share them here:

Prob the most interesting number I saw was the Elden Ring subreddit. The franchise has only existed for three years, yet it has already outgrown the Pokemon, GTA, Destiny, Zelda, and Animal Crossing subreddits, even though those latter franchises have been out for many more years.

It's pretty much memes.

Elden Ring's sub was quite big already before the game was even properly shown to the world. Hell, it reached a point where the community were so starved of info that they began creating their own lore for the damned game, it even went a bit mainstream and became a bit of a meme, I wouldn't be surprised if that contributed quite a lot to the sub's growth.
To this day I still think fondly of this stupid post from time to time

Also, the GTA sub doesn't even break 500k? Really?
I don't really follow gta content on reddit but that's surprising to me.

It's interesting to me how that much attention built up for the game even though it wasn't even out.

Those communities seem to be very pc-centric. There's no console-only games (except Zelda). No PS exclusive games (Ragnarok, but it's on pc). Xbox exclusives are there because of pc too, I guess.

Is it comprehensive, OP?

Pokemon, Zelda, Animal Crossing, pretty much the Nintendo franchises, which haven't been on PC as far as I recall.

It's funny that ff14 has more member than ff itself, then again ff sub kinda toxic against 11 and 14 because of MMO, so maybe that why

Elden Ring is huge. But the thing is franchises like Zelda, GTA, Pokemon subs are broken down further into individual game subreddit

The Last of Us community has over 2 million and most of that was before the PC version of the game came out.

Pokemon and Animal Crossing are both console exclusives, and Fortnite player count is higher on console.

Nice, I actually thought of making similar thread, but just wasn't in the mood.

Subreddit member numbers are a good way to measure how popular something is in relation to other things.

It was surprising when I saw that Fire Emblem has over 500k members, always thought that is one super niche franchise.

Speaking of which:

r/FinalFantasyI - 138 members

r/FinalFantasyII - 314 members

r/FinalFantasyIII - 438 members

r/FinalFantasyIV - 1.1K members

r/FinalFantasyV - 628 members

r/FinalFantasyVI - 16K members

r/FinalFantasyVII - 163K members

r/FinalFantasyVIII - 40K members

r/FinalFantasyIX - 35K members

r/FinalFantasyX - 71K members

r/FFXI - 34K members

r/FinalFantasyXII - 37K members

r/FinalFantasyXIII - 12K members

r/FFXIV - 1.3M members

r/FFXV - 113K members

r/FFXVI - 146K members

The biggest thing that stands out to me here is how the community for Final Fantasy XIII is smaller than the one for Final Fantasy VI, even though XIII is more contemporary to the modern internet community age than VI was.

r/minecraft has 8,5 million members and 587 people are online right now. I would have expected that number to be bigger for that memberbase.
