I believe the director changed halfway through. The increase in quality occurred afterwards.

Plus they kept that same director on for Heaven & Earth and Exodus.

I'd say it's closer to Evangelion than Code Geass.

MG Quabley-
for something that came out more than a decade ago this kit is amazing. Everything feels solid and with 6 layers of top coat all the parts feel like they aren't ever going to come off. This kit comes with tons of hands to be swapped off, two yellow beam sabers, and 10 missile pods that can be extended out. I am going to put this on a white action base because it is gorgeous in person. Gives off a mean clown look

K, with my gf out for the upcoming weekend, I'd like to finish up at least one kit in my stupid backlog. Here are the following:

Hi-Nu Vrabe w/ Lev A parts - head and chest complete, wanting to paint it "Amazing Red"

All the MG kits in the back (X1, Zeta Plus C1, MG Zeta 2.0), Kampfer Amazing. Already completed Dark Matter.

Then there's an HG Gundam Revive with Weapon Set A.

That face looks nice, i really like how it looks.

Yeah, though I blame that on the low number of quality mecha show these days. We burned through most of the old ones and had nothing else to talk about, unfortunately.

i felt Kira escaping is believable bc of the normal suits.
i thought Athrun going emo over Rusty was inconsistent. at least green hair was on his special team. Rusty was just a general machine and countless canon fodder died w/o Athrun crying... just seemed in consistent.

No, Rusty was on his team too - a red shirt too. He was intended to be a pilot of one of the Gundams. There's a picture of all five of them plus Miguel and maybe some other guy. It was definitely a "we were all buddies in the academy" kinda deal.

Even Miguel got better treatment though. Rusty didn't even get a line before he was gunned down.

It's good and people from the anime OT say the recent sequel is quite nice also. There's just alot to watch to catch up. The original series, an OVA (prequel), the movie, and then the sequel.

What sucks is the character designs are made by the same guy as SEED. Alot of characters are practically rehashed versions.

I think I've leveled up my marathoning skill with watching Nartuo. If I can catch up dealing with that shit then I can catch up with anything.

Exodus is fucking top-tier.

If it says anything, I really do like IBO but back during this past Fall season I was looking forward to watching Exodus every week more than anything else.

Plus episode 9 of the first season has one of those scenes where you watch and think "THIS is why I watch anime." If you've seen Exodus, this is the scene I mean (copying TVTropes description):

In episode 9, Sein and Nicht (out of their limiters) finally get in on the action, and it's every bit as amazing as you'd expect it to be. To put it simply, their arrival turns the entire hopeless battle into a Curb-Stomp Battle in their favor. It must be seen to be believed.

"Sono Toki, Soukyuu e" only serves to make this scene even more epic.

EDIT: So later this week I'm probably gonna get that MG Wing Zero EW/Custom I saw at Barnes and Noble...guess I'll try panel washing out on it, now that I know how to do it correctly.

I use krylon low odor matte spray. It is about 12 dollars on Amazon a can but one can will easily last you 5 kits If not more. The quality was so great I ordered a gloss and another matte can. It drys quick

Yea just bookmark this page, but I have definitely noticed that top coats look a little spotty/ blotchy when drying in cold weather

There's nothing wrong with Zeta though. I've seen it three times and still managed to cry at the ending on the third time and yes I know exactly how it ends each time but it still gets to me. The music, the way Kamille is, how childlike he acts, it's really just a weighty ending. It's got some issues, but every Gundam show does though. "Zeta Gundam: suit up and get smacked the fuck up."

ZZ is certainly below all other leads in the UC aside from Victory and V2 or the non animemated suits.

Quick random question, does anyone treat or top coat beamsabers or accessories regularly? Feel they are usually fine alone but seen some people have various opinion and techniques for them.

Don't clear coat your beam effect parts or any transparent part ever, it messes up the look and effect.

Only do it if you are planning to paint the effect parts and make it a different color or for effects shading like this.

What you can do is use heat and heat your beam sabers so they bend and look like they are in motion.

If you can't paint the entire clear part, a trick to make transparent parts stick out more like Exia GN drive or Unicorn Psychoframe is to paint a very bright silver behind, inside the part so that it gives it a more pronounced glowing effect.
