The Gundam |OT2| Another 5 years of Gunpla, Origins, and GUNDAMUUUU!

I've played Gundam Breaker 3 for 1,5 hour and since there's no OT yet, I guess I'll post my impressions here. :

Thanks for the initial impressions. Trying to debate I'd I want to buy it today. Weekend suddenly filled with an onsen trip, someone staying for the weekend and who knows what else.

Will probably bite and just add it to the continued ps4 backlog

I went on HLJ to order a few more bases...and pre ordered 2 more Gundams and got my best friend the Kotabukiya 1/100 MG Rex.

So little will power for models.

I buy cakes for myself on my birthday it's not weird lots of people do it I bet
Barnes and Noble near my house has the RG Gundam XX, god I want that so much but I'm not that obsessed with Gunpla yet to drop 50$ on one.

I went to a B&N to get gunpla once, they either didn't have any or they hid it well and I'll be damned if i ask for that shit in public at a book store.

Both of mine have a decent sized glass display showcasing a few models in the hobby section, fairly visible too.

Selection isn't too good, basically they have the Double X, the big Wing Zero, a couple assorted Build Fighter dudes, and like a billion Grazes.

You would be fine buying it, but not asking where it's at...

You kidding?

I asked them to look in the back for MG Wing Zero I knew was there due to the site saying it was in stock, but it wasn't out on the floor (though a shit ton were a few weeks prior). Even had a pic of the box art to show.

They were cool about it, too. Maybe they were glad someone was actually buying it lol.

All the B&N I see gunpla at neglect to put prices on their kits. And I'd really only buy one there on a whim since I'm so used to finding exactly what I want for relatively little markup/shipping online. Or at least, I know the MSRP and shipping costs.

Looking at her post history (unless one was deleted), I don't see how she got a ban unless a mod just... Wait, criticizing mods will get ME banned. Again.

Are you trying to be a smartass? She requested some time off from GAF for personal reasons and might or might not be coming back. I hope she does. If anyone bothered, they could have PM'd someone who would know to ask instead.

I hope she comes back, she's like my sister in crazy stuff.

Just giving you guys an update on my Gundams! I finished two of them (Barbatos 1/100 and Gundam DX MG). Have to say, the DX is a great build. Barbatos..... was quite a disappointment to me.

Sorry for the image quality, my room has really poor lighting in general so my camera couldn't take a good photo.

Almost done with ZZ and next up is Victory, so I decided to check a few episodes out...

Gotta say, that hornet-themed Mobile Suit that Uso uses at the beginning with the beam-blade propeller shield is pretty tight, honestly disappointed when he swaps it for the lame Victory Gundam. It really bugs me how the individual pieces don't even pretend they don't combine---like the third piece is basically flying legs. I still don't get the overall benefit of those types up Mobile Suits besides selling toys. Also hearing a young Rica Matsumoto as one of the kids is neat. One thing that bugs me though is the second episode is tonally meant to be serious, but plotwise feels like something from early ZZ---Uso accidentally drops into the enemy's mobile suit and Chronicle believes it to be a planned attack is one of those comedic irony moment that ZZ loved to do with Mashmyre.

With ZZ, I'm almost where I left off last time---right around the Dublin Colony Drop, damn that gets my blood pumping. Honestly so far the worst part of ZZ isn't the early comedy episodes, I really like those actually for setting the scene, but the episodes that take place in the desert which are somber despite being somewhat silly are really where it drags imo. Now that Glemy is starting to reveal his true colors and the Gundam Team is getting their shit together it gets good.

The first 3 eps are actually aired out of order. This was a bandai decision. I believe to show the Gundam in the first episode. If you never saw any of my posts regarding Glemmy then you're in for a subtext surprise.

Well I watched enough of ZZ before to realize he's a creepy misogynistic possibly-pedophile if that's what you mean. :p

But yeah, I quickly realized the first episode of Victory was Media Res. I understand the decision though to push the Gundam of course.

I do understand why you would think this, but the combining gimmick of the Victory actually leads to some really great fights down the line. As for the comedic irony, I always thought of Victory as some amazing combination of Zeta's grimdark and ZZ's goofiness.

And yeah, the Shokew and beam rotors are amazing. Love them.

Possible pedophile? Dude held a conversation with a naked 12 year old without batting an eyelash. Room full of naked 12 year old girls actually, not to mention his obsession with Leina.

Glemmy is a creep and reading that he was changed to be a Char stand in makes me wonder if they would have made Char a creeper too if CCA wasn't greenlit.

I used to actually think Char was a creeper cause of Quess and thought he sexed up a barely legal Haman so who knows if they didn't already have that in mind.

I don't think he was too into Quess, but she was useful and had a crush that could be exploited.

Anyway I just finished F91 and I knew before I watched it that it was meant to be a series but I didn't realize how much of a mess it actually was. A lot of cool stuff happened but none of it explained or expanded on. Kinda wish it was getting an anime series instead of Unicorn so it could be fleshed out more.

Alrightly, just finished up my first kit

fWmFS4k.jpg

My local hobby shop had a few different models but it wasn't a huge selection, I have never actually seen Build fighters but I thought this unit looked pretty cool and since this was my first attempt at building a Gundam I wasn't super picky. I think I'll do a couple more HG models and them order a couple of MGs but I think on my next HG I'll take a shot at doing some panel lining or painting and see how that turns outs.

All in all it was quite fun though, I do wish the kit came with some type of stand but it sadly it did not so I'm going to have to try and grab a few

Wanna say nice builds to the guy who built that double x and the other person who built the burning kamiki.

I didn't know the double x looks so good with just a straight build
