How are the HGUC's of the obscure Zeta suits? I want MG's of those since some of those are my favorite ones. Any pics?

It's a pretty nice transforming HGUC kit. No partsforming, everything fits together pretty nicely. Comes with a stand. Poseability is what you would expect from an HG kit, no waist though, look at the transformation and you will see why. I'm pretty down on the MG line in general these days to get to these suits, so I'm happy just to have them in some form that isn't the 80s kits, you don't want to touch those.

No pics on hand but I only just managed to slap the thing together. I have the equipment around to do it properly but not the time, takes me a couple weeks to assemble an HGUC, so I don't see myself doing much else to it. Young kids doesn't really facilitate the hobby. Fun to build though. Cute little flying hamburger.

I'll build Gaplant next, then probably a Gabthley after that. Looks like my Z BDs are in tomorrow as well, my wallet is done for a while.

Normal places are sold out because it was a Webshop exclusive, but Mandarake seems to have them for around 6k yen.

If that one is sold out by the time you click, clicking on the 'search' button should already be filled with the MG Build Fighters Try keyword and you can see if they pulled some more in.

Any American places??

GG Infinite and Gundam Planet are the only US based Tamashii Webshop middlemen I know of and both are sold out already. eBay doesn't seem to have any US based resellers and Mandarake is cheaper than the non US ones there. Amazon is LOL prices right now.

Given it was a webshop exclusive and you're coming late, your options are limited.

Sorry if this has been covered but where is Thunderbolt episode 3? It aired but the Raws are nowhere, is no one putting it out?

My first kit, EW Sandrock MG, arrived yesterday.
I've built the chest and head so far, and aside from putting the neck on the wrong way round and spending half an hour trying to connect the upper and lower torso it's going pretty well. The instructions are easy enough to follow.

I've not attempted it now, but when I inevitably screw up panel lining with my Gundam Markers how do I clean it off? Will a q-tip or eraser work, and how long should I leave it before attempting to clean the piece?

Finally, does this version of Sandrock ever show up in the anime. I know the Custom version (the same design but with full blue armour and the red mowhawk/Roman soldier helmet thing) is in EW, but is this one?

Yeah sometimes the instructions can be a bit wonky on how two parts are supposed to go together, and even after you figure it out can still wonder if its right for a few minutes after haha. OR at least this is what I always go through for a part or two.

As for cleaning a panel line with gundam markers, Q-tips work well enough for getting a good bit off, a little dab of water on it before rubbing can take it off entirely if you catch it early enough. It's just a light paint/ink so nothing too hard to clean up.

And nah, the MG Custom suits from Gundam Wing are the concept versions that were not used in the anime/movie. Believe they were done by a different designer/artist. The designs were popular enough to make kits out of.

Thanks. I'll hopefully be able to get the arms completed tonight, and I might try panel lining what I've made so far too.

The only thing I'm not happy with so far is that I couldn't get the two halves of it's head armour to connect properly, so there's a slight gap there. It just wouldn't connect no matter how hard I pushed it. I guess I could try taking it apart and reassembling it again.

Hey Gundam Gaf,
I'm interested in finally getting into Gundam as I'm really in the mood some Mecha at the moment.
I've heard good things about Zeta, I picked the series up on DVD a few weeks back on a whim but just wondering if before I watch it I should watch the original series or does it stand alright on its own without seeing the original series?

While Zeta is a great series in its own right, a lot of plot points depend on the world building done by the original series, and a lot of characters return from the original show. I think at the very least you should watch the 3 0079 movies before Zeta.

looking forward to starting

Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket later tonight. almost done with 08th team

My two favorite Gundams. 08th MS team captures the low level grunt warfare that I want to see more of in Gundam. 0080 is just a really really good story.

I don't like 08th at all. Yah, the low level grunt stuff was cool, but people really over blow it. The story itself isn't anything great either.

It's my least favorite uc ova. Well, not entirely true, the igloos are.

I've always been fond of the 08th MS Team. Though I always skip the 12th episode since I don't think it adds anything useful to the perfectly good ending in the 11th episode.

The gouf is also my favorite 0079 suit so the fact that Norris pilots one makes it soo much better.

I wanted to hate Norris because he is the enemy, but his reasons are pure and noble. plus he treats his comrades with respect. If he knew all the horrible stuff Genias done he probably would of killed him.

They where also done by Katoki and used in promotional material for the EW Ova and at the time where called Early Types.

They've been changed slightly over the years ( Deathscythe Early Type had a double V Fin, Wing's colors are different and the shield is much larger and opens in the front to release the beam saber like Wing TV) but the designer is the same person.

Norris and Ramba Ral do a really good job of establishing that all Zeon aren't crazy evil people.

Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS

9/10

loved everything but the last episode "Last resort' was lame and didn't need to be included.

Yeah, 08th MS is so fucking good 90% of the way through and then ruins it at the finish line with an ending that betrays the entire series by glorifying a fucking deserter. Deserters are the worst because the only people they hurt are the motherfuckers who are in the trenches with them. They are lowest of the low. For a series that was SO GOOD about showing the little things, maintenance, rank structure, camaraderie when you are forced to eat shit sandwich after shit sandwich, they fucked up the ending.

I liked him as a protagonist because his fear of dying and wanting to live are relatable but he really is a terrible soldier.

Looking forward to finishing war in pocket.
