The Gundam |OT2| Another 5 years of Gunpla, Origins, and GUNDAMUUUU!

MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM UNICORN RE:0096 Episode 5 – Clash with Red Comet

This gundam is making me not finish the last three episode of G reco, its just so intriguing and not just because Im still waiting to know what Laplaces Box is, but because of seeing them trying to take down the second coming of Char the red comet and being similar to the one in the books I red as he is just as cunning and thinking many many steps ahead of everyone else.

Riddhe gets so close to being off'd but manages to survive
also he's a newtype I guess? that moment when he seemed like he sensed the Gundam

Gundam fight was also amazing though kind of unbalanced, if this is supposed to be the most powerful mobile suit and something everyone wants as its the key to the box to change the generation then it seems like some sort of bad writing was involved for the episode
surely he would have been able to get some hits against the red comet and too additionally not get grabbed and caught by my favorite mobile suit in this the four winged green one with bits (Marida Cruz's, best fempilot). The gundam was even in that mode, so if he lost like this and this isnt a gundam series in which they have dedicated facilities for upgrades like AGE, it seems there is going to be a power inbalance that will have to be explained weirdly later on

Eventually the Unicorn uses it's Eva Unit 1 Berserk mode to beat everything.

Thunderbolt manga continues to do its own things. Now with
mind controlling religious leaders/Newtypes.

It's also nice to see that Io is a pretty kickass pilot even without a Gundam. One thing that I didn't necessarily like about the anime adaptation was that it portrayed him as being a bit too sadistic and cruel, particularly in episode 2. In the manga he is more of a thrill seeking adrenaline junkie and doesn't toy around with his enemies as much. I think this current arc makes him seem more likable, though he's still kind of a cocky asshole.

Perfectly illustrates why the All Gundam Project Revive is great and why remaking older kits into modern standards is necessary. Gunpla technology has grown so much.

lol @ that old Impulse.

The new one's looking pretty darn good. Some of the early, not-super-touched-up pics I've seen have shown only the itty, chest vulcans stuck molded in blue. Bandai's even getting the light blue on the front skirt and the v-shaped crest on the chest section, it seems, unless the kit I saw was oddly inconsistently detailed or those are stickers (likely I imagine at least for the v-crest - Bandai didn't put that much work into the Gundam X).

Thanks man! Your Gundam posts in the action figure thread totally inspired me to get back into this.

oh you won't regret getting the metal build! =)

So much for that job. :(

Well I get one more paycheck... MG Freedom 2.0 will be my depression cure for however long it takes to build it.
sorry to hear man, i was w/o one for a while too.
Well that sucks. I honestly need to regain some sanity so I don't lose my job myself. I just want to leave these days.
i'd stay until i got something solid lined up =)

Finding work is such a bitch and a half. I'd calm the fuck down if I actually got a raise, but I'm too stressed out for the lack of money I make and I seriously need a raise.

That's what I actually did. I shouldn't have with nothing else lined up but I couldn't stand that damn factory any more. It started the resurfacing of my depression and anxiety issues, which didn't help.

I built the Graze Kai over the weekend. That was the quickest build I've done so far. I don't know if it is due to the simplicity of the Graze or HG are just that much simpler compared to MG. I love the look of the kit but it has a few problems. The arms are pretty stiff and will often pop out of their sockets while adjusting them. The head as the opposite problem and is extremely loose. It is also disappointing that the axe is only one color. I guess this might be telling me to learn to paint.

Next up is the MG Ball Ver Ka.

Came across a few Zoids kits yesterday in fact. Really tempting but I heard they are fairly hard to make comparatively. That Liger Panzer though looked pretty amazing.

Also first Gundam Gunpla is officially finished.

Lightning Z Gundam, no weird tricky parts, few stickers aside from the usual ones like eyes and scopes, though the ends of the wings are red (hard to see) those are stickers for some reason, a simple part or two would have been fine imo but there always seems to be that one part/sticker that makes no sense.

Sturdy, can stand on it's own fine. Still going to buy an action base tomorrow so I can get the sniping pose.

Really love the build fighters kits, they are different but still cool.

Next is MG Aegis. Will be my first MG and I forgot it's a transformable suit when I bought it. Intimidated to build it, though I hope it will be fine, also trying to match the red..ish color for this thing is seemingly impossible. I see all kinds of mixture recommendations, pink and brown, pink and maroon, red and brown... Now I see why all the painted builds of this tend to be just straight up red lol.

They're also releasing an optional part set for the Gojulas so you can build the Gojulas Mariner. It's going to look amazing with them.

Next kit in the line looks pretty beast as well. Not a new mold but I love what they did with it.

Command Wolf is cool, but it's not a Liger...I miss Zoids. Weren't there only 2 series?

Ligers are a bit more complex, especially Zero with its various armors.

And like TheFlow said, there were 3 series, Genesis being the last one. Doesn't seem to have been too successful based on little they feature its kits, though. I wonder if the bad guys having zombies was an unpopular decision.

I don't think Toonami got Genesis...
Zombies...

Ok, so I just finished building my first MG kit. I went with the Ver. Ka Nu Gundam because it's a BEAST.

So, I have a couple of questions.

1. Did I mess this up? Didn't intend to try painting this one, but I'm somehow still worried that I haven't done justice to the kit with my building skills. Positive affirmation plox.

2. Water Slide Decals. I haven't done them yet, obviously. I understand the basic process and I have the tools I should need. Does anybody have any advice for doing them properly?

Your kit looks fine to me and you can always go back and add panel lines, spray/paint, and decals at anytime.

You are going to want a tweezer and some q tips if you have them for the water decals. David and shun will probably give you some good YouTube vids

Week looks barren so I guess I should start my backlog. Too many Build Fighters smh

Anyone here planning to get Gundam Breaker 3 now that it can be imported in full English?

It'd be nice if I had a PS4. Don't wanna go VitaTV tbh

GUNPLA Figure-rise Bust Church of Yamato and Athrun

I'll build that MG Aile Strike RM just to entertain the thought of getting those. Damn how will Setsuna and Mikazuki look...

I'm actually getting it for regular Vita. While the PS4 version does look a whole lot better with better effects/framerate, I bought the first GB game for PS3 and would have prefered to play it on a handheld. Battles tend to last a while without being able to pause the game either.

I'm guessing PSTV has a suspend feature like the vita. Though maybe they fixed the inability to pause in the PS4 version of this game.

Do panel lines with washes, do decal, then apply a matte top coat, you will be amazed what a difference it made.

For waterslide I suggest getting waterslide decal softener. Softener dissolve the decal so it'll looks like paint instead of sticker. For instruction just do a quick search in YouTube.

I should get the Nu vKa. The Sazabi v. Ka is probably my favorite MG, I was floored by the layers and layers of detail on that thing. I have the original Nu which is nice, but bit outclassed by new Sazabi next to it.

Are they using water slide decals in newer kits? Last I checked it was just the regular stickers and the dry-transfer rub-on kind. I always put off stickers until after I paint, then I never get around to painting.

My HGAC Wing kit arrived last night and I'm planning to start building it tonight.

I'm essentially just planning to put it together and then do some panel line work (I bought a 3-pack of Gundam markers with the kit). I also might apply some super glue if there are some loose bits.

Are there any other basics tips or techniques that I might want to apply to it? I live in an NYC apartment so I don't want to go too crazy with painting (at least not yet), but I'm definitely interested to know if there are any easy things I should be doing to improve the results of my work.

What's the best place to keep up with upcoming releases of Gunpla? Announcements and release dates and whatnot. Collected into a list would be the best.

Yeah...they were definitely an ugly bunch and very much not what fans wanted. And while the good guys were more traditionally designed overall the Genesis line failed big time, which is why most kits were discontinued in the same year.
Still, I loved the design of the Deadly Kong from that line, edgy as it might seem.
