Was there no gAGE love?

Nope! Gundam Age is just a memory at this point. Thunderbolt has all the MG attention. Psycho Zaku is coming after the Full Armor but they didnt have it at the show.

Erm, you were there and you failed to steal the display kit? :(

Haha they thought ahead! Sinanju was trapped behind plastic case on all sides with Bandai rep standing watch next to it. Rep got mad at me for taking pictures before gates officially opened at 9:30 lol.

Do you figure the Hyaku Shiki's paint is final? It looks horrid.

Thats the final color more than likely. Not paint or plating its just molded in that color. Good news is you dont have to pay extra for plating and dont have to strip it off to paint it. Speaking of plating Hasegawa announced a metallic plating removal liquid at the show haha.

It's pretty popular but you'll want to shop at specialist shops rather than big shopping malls to avoid paying ridiculously overpriced recommended retailer pricing. You'll find a much better range at these stores too.

I have no idea what's unavailable in the US though. I usually get my stuff from HobbyArtGallery: https://www.facebook.com/HobbyArtGallery

If you're a fan of collectibles and toys in general, not just gunpla, it might be worth asking her to check out China Square Central in Chinatown on weekends. That's when the toy stores there open up and there are more vendors doing open flea markets with lots of random stuff. Old toys, gashaphon sets, etc.
Thanks, Mr. Duck~
Told her about the place and she's all about checking it out. (Now with a goal to find JoJo and Gundam merchandise for me, and ALL the Sailor Moon merchandise for herself during this trip.)
From what she's shown me, that country is fucking gorgeous. I'm hoping I can go for two weeks to check it out myself. lol

I think I missed that Gyan and ZZ2 earlier from hype. The Gyan will be mine, but the ZZ2 looks... really plain. They could have done something really cool with that and went the Z2 route instead. :/

Is there an excuse for foil seal heavy kits anymore now?

Bandai has been moving away from it for the most part, but there are some really bad exceptions to the rule still.

Everything is so streamlined and modernized

Except for that ugly molded gold color, I don't think you're able to fix that on the Strike Freedom and Gold Frame and Hyaku Shiki non plated version.

They need to find a way to make that not look bad.

Hyaku-Shiki 2.0's gold is absolutely perfect to me. I actually don't like plated gold on large portions of kits. It can work for symbols like the with the RG Sinanju, but for large portions of kits, I like the more subtle gold better.

The only reason not to do it is cost reasons at this point. For HGs, Bandai can't necessarily afford the large amount of parts to do all the trim and symbols for instance. I wish they could, but I understand that for such cheap kits, there's a really strict budget.

For MGs and RGs, though, there really isn't much of an excuse. I hope we move away from seals for the eyes as well now too. Given the eye's we've gotten on kits like the RX-78 origin and most RG kits, there's zero reason Bandai can't do that for other higher budget kits.

I'm not talking about the plating specifically that needs to be fixed.

I mean I got the Hyaku Shiki and Akatsuki and I think those look amazing.

Same with the gold plating on my Musha Gundam and Musha Mk II.

Those are just matter of making sure that is undergated 100% of the time when possible.

What I mean that needs to be fix is the RG molded gold for Strike Freedom and the injection gold in the upcoming HG Hyaku Shiki Revive. RG Gold Frame too.

Those just do not look good at all. Injection gold and injection metallics just need to be improved, or alternative needs to be found.

The next Gundam series I'm going to watch is Unicorn but I was curious if RE:0096 is the way to go. I prefer to wait until shows have finished airing and then marathon them at my convenience so do you guys think it's worth waiting for RE:0096 or should I just jump into the original version now?

The TV cut has added anything significant and I don't expect it will, so you might as well watch the original.

Most of the additions have been adding the marking stickers and redrawing frames. You can just watch the original.

OMG please no more SEED. There is so much untapped in the franchise. Give me more Sentinel, Hathaway Flash, Formula Wars, Victory, X, AoZ, anything else

In what way do you mean?

I would agree as far as Metal Builds are concerned.

It has only had one MG recently and HG's come so quickly I never mind more of any series in that line.

Def some gloss. but matte coat would probably mess up the gold trim? I think

That is why you mask or you matte coat before putting on the plated parts.

You can still add a flat coat. You just don't take the lazy route and spray on the completed limbs.

Not that the Sinanju should be matte, I think Sinanju works best at a high gloss metallic candy coat.

ahhhh that makes sense. I think I would go about spraying the outside red parts while they were still on the frame.

edit: nvm that example you provided looks great

Just to clarify, these are painted with metallics and set with a high gloss clear coat.

If you want a matte sinanju this is what it would look like.

You would want to assemble and clean the nubs and everything else rather than spraying directly on the runners.

I would only recommend spraying on the runners ever if it is a plated metallic part that would get scratched or ruined when handling and building.

How Bandai will probably do the Sinanju is have the gold parts snap on under the black. So you should be able to assemble the entire RG without any of the gold and spray, then add the gold after.

If not spray them individually and keep the gold separate.

damn I like the matte too. I would probably have to assemble before even thinking of what I want the end to look like. Ty for the insight as always

MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM UNICORN RE:0096 Episode 7

NT-D is such an extreme system, have they come to that point of hating Newtypes that much :(
though who is even a Newtype if all we have are cyber newtype folks, I guess Banagher is one and Marida is clearly one. Im glad Banagher was able to get out of it in time to not kill her though, strongest femchar since gAGE.
.

Most mindblowing moment
when Banagher stole control of the funnels and they pointed back at her. Then his hand in the Unicorn Gundam embraced the power. Why couldnt other Gundams have done something this cool.

You need to watch ZZ Gundam to find out who Marida is.
