The Gundam |OT2| Another 5 years of Gunpla, Origins, and GUNDAMUUUU!

I should watch Destiny again sometime but I feel it would need going through SEED first.

Wish we'd get modern version of these guys. I have a lot of attachment to Gundam Aesculapius, it was my first Gundam kit.

Interesting! Those aren't on my re-pop lists for Japan as far as I'm aware. Wonder if Bluefin worked out something to bring them to the states. Good to see them being re-released.

Revive Gyan came in today! To be honest I've been looking forward to this coming more than the RG Qan[t] coming next week.

I posted that I made my first Gunpla a few weeks back, so here's a picture of it.
The only thing I messed up was I screwed up the transfers on one side of the heat shotel, so the decals are just on the outside side.

If we get a RG Tallgeese retail, I wouldn't put it past them. I'm shocked they haven't done a MG Leo from the Tallgeese frame as a P-Bandai release if not retail.

I don't know how they make their decisions (ultimately). When the RG 00 was announced, I would have bet money we'd get a P-Bandai 7 Swords set. After all, the Exia got alternate parts for Exia Repair and Astraea, which I imagine were a ton of work, and the 7 Swords already had its own MG and shouldn't be any harder to churn out.

In the unlikely event of an RG Tallgeese, I'd bet on a P-Bandai Tallgeese II before a Leo but ultimately I don't know what figures drive Bandai's decision making.

Would we ever get RGs of Taurus? That's the coolest Wing grunt suit imo.

I can answer this one: No. RG is a super-exclusive club. With a couple well-understood exceptions, generally, if you have any doubts an MS will get the RG treatment (doubts regarding popularity, not engineering - Bandai's getting pretty darn good on the latter), it's probably not going to get it.

The next RG on my wishlist is the Gundam X, but even as a titular mobile suit, if it ever happens, I'm not expecting it for a long time. Since I'm on the topic :3 , there's a market for it, from all the X kits we got the past couple years. I don't know where Bandai's going next though. Unicorn-something was a pretty right and popular call, but since I don't know when or if we'll get Unicorn itself.. I don't know. F91? ZZ (lol)? God? Build Strike? The next, new hotness? No obvious pick stands out. They could do the Bandaiest of Bandai things though - Release another RX-78 "to show the advancement in Real Grade technology".

Sorry, I love speculating on this.

After you build it, can you take a few shots with it wearing the Gyan Vulcan parts if you have that?

Sure thing! That's on my list to check. I built the head, torso and arms last night. Really liking the new head design. I believe Naoki had a hand in the design of this one.

One thing to note is the colors are a bit more bluish compared to the old HG which was more purple. So the shoulders that came with the Valuable Pod set won't match if they are plug and play. I'll let you know!

Looks great, congrats on the first gunpla! Got the itch to go for more yet?

Started work on my MG Aegis. Not so bad thus far but the arms are pretty intimidating it seems. Never had a gunpla where the arms were 2 and a half pages of instructions haha. Still can't figure out what color to use to cover up sanding but I might just leave it unpainted. Also love that after building the head I basically used up all the stickers, only like 2 small ones left and have no idea where they could be going at this point.

this is actually a great shot. post this on gunpla reddit if you haven't already.

Yeah, I'm looking to get either any of Char's Gundam, a Zaku II, or a GM. I could be tempted by Tallgeese 1 or Wing Gundam for nostalgia sake though. I want to stick with MG kits at least.

I'm getting an action base today hopefully, so I should be able to get more fun poses.

The main problem I have with Sandrock is that he can't really hold his beam machine gun properly, due to his comically large shoulder pauldrons'. Unless I'm doing it wrong.

My main problem with Gundam is that I'm not super familiar with it. My knowledge is literally just GW/EW and the Gundam Battle Assault 2 game. So I don't recognise a good amount of the kits, and I prefer to pick from things I know. I suppose I could look for a cool looking random one at some point though.

Thanks!
I actually don't have a reddit account. I need to get round to making one though, because I do visit it quite a bit.

.

From what I heard the machine gun thing is a known issue with the kit lol. Odd one but seems like everyone has it out of the box without using extra tools to mod it.

As for other gundam kits, if you are not familiar and don't want to burn through multiple (most likely 50 episode) seasons of mainline shows, look at a few kits you find interesting and wiki them for their backstory. If it's not something that disgusts you then go for it would be my suggestion lol. Or youtube clips of it ect.

But yeah, definitely need to be a fan of a mobile suit before you buy it, least for me anyway.

These are so crazy.

Wing main is some of the smallest gundam's yet G Unit has suits as huge as Xi.

Loved the difference.
Yeah, I know I shit talk Wing on the reg, but I love the G Unit kits, Hydra especially I have a fondness for. Many nights I spent playing an import copy of Battle Masters 2 as a teenager.

On RGS, if I were to make a guess, it would either be Alex-as it would be a minor retooling of the RX78, God, RX79-it wouldn't take a lot to then retool for Ez8 or barbaros to release near season 2 of IBO.

Long shots that are still possible I would say RX93, Turn A, and Hyaku Shiki.

Finished up my Zeta rewatch last night. So much towards the end I didn't remember. I need to go back and watch a couple episodes because there was a point where I just completely lost what Haman's alliances/motivations were. There was some time between episodes I couldn't watch due to travel, maybe I forgot something. I could have sworn at one point she was all cool with AEUG, next episode they were fighting each other.

Definitely seemed to come in hot towards the end there, everything wrapped up so suddenly whereas 0079 was paced much better.

Apparently the ZZ BDs are already shipping directly from RightStuf, so I've cancelled my order from Amazon and moved over there. Works out cheaper anyway.

Bawoo was confirmed for the RE.

"Confirmed" by GundamGuy. Aka not confirmed and he's clickbaiting out the ass again.

That silhouette at the hobby show didn't even look like a Bawoo. Though:

Derringer dropped some hints that it might be but it all depends on how you interpret it. On a post that said "there's no way it's a Bawoo's silhouette" he responded and said that the lighting was at fault. That's all we have so I wouldn't make any predictions yet.

#2
It wasn't the lighting but the card stock/panel behind the figure that fell over. So instead of the light being filling the box as expected it caused it to cast its light/shadows differently giving the impression its upper body was way more elongated.

"But who is this Derringer guy and why should I care what he says, Zero?"

He's an employee for Blufin, the official distributor for Gunpla in the west. Treat his words as official, because he's been right in everything or close to everything he's told people on Gundam Eclipse and /m/

Speaking of Z suits, I hope we eventually get a RE Baund Doc. I'm sure we're never getting an MG of that so I'd prefer an RG over a HG kit.

That G-Unit reissue is really weird and surprising. Not necessarily bad, but very unexpected. Love to see these weird, kind of lesser known kit series getting brought back out every once in a while.

Yeah, I think the gun looks cooler attached to the shield anyway, so it's OK. It's just a really odd design decision considering how well everything else is made. Hell, the only other complaint I have about the kit is directed towards the gun again, and it's the fact that while it can sit above his skirt armour on the back, it doesn't snap into place, and due to the fact that his skirt armour slopes down, it falls off with the slightest touch.

I built my action base now, and it went smoothly, aside from the fact that I screwed up one of the Sandrock Mobile Suit dry transfers that I put on the little plate attachment you get. All I need to do now is tighten the screw up a bit more, because the screwdriver I was using was a bit too big.

My sister also got a HG Beargguy (the brown one with the backpack and flute) today, so I helped build it. It was a super easy build, like it only took me around 3 and a half hours, and aside from maybe picking myself a yellow Beargguy up I don't think HG kits are for me really if they're similar to these in terms of being interesting to build. Are HG kits made of a cheaper material, because it just feels more hollow (that could be a result of Beargguy being so bulky though I guess), and a lot of places where I filed down the excess plastic with my craft knife left a mark that didn't really happen with Sandrock?

I dont know how they do the casting but Gundam always has such fantastic dubs.

Barring the original movie dubs

I wonder who would do a Victory Gundam dub? Would be hilarious if they got the Eva team for it. I think most of those guys except Gendo's actor is still active.

Sunrise would outsource out dubs to places like Bang Zoom! rather than use the Texas-based talent of Sentai and Funimation. But realistically, I wouldn't expect catalog shows like Victory to get newly commissioned dubs.

I actually thought Funimation was dubbing it since Funimation was streaming IBO on their site. I know they would never dub Victory, my question was more of a hilarious hypothetical. I do find it weird that the Ocean group gets no more Gundam. I grew up on those voice actors. Big Zoom is fine if they're the ones that did the Unicorn dub. I didn't even hear the dub for Origin.

Yeah HG's are a lower quality of model than MG hence the cheaper prices and smaller size.

They have less parts, generally meaning they are missing the inner parts that make them more sturdy like the Master Grades have, hence being hollow. Since they are cheaper to make and sell that is where you see most kits end up and the most popular ones/main character gundams eventually get a MG version. But random mobile suits are basically always going to be relegated to HG.

RG's are the newer set and are considered to be MG quality but in a HG size, with an appropriate price reduction as well.

Also... Anyone else love the Gaplant!?

How the hell did I never know this existed!
I went to a massive used shop here in Kagoshima for games, anime stuff, clothes and more and saw one of these on the shelf. Almost bought it but had no idea what it was til got home and looked it up.

So I finished my first gunpla, I probably shouldn't have started out with a Real Grade but it was fun putting it together. I don't have all the stickers on yet, but I really need to sleep now because I lost track of the time when I was building it.

I just noticed that Amazon.co.jp is offering international shipping on Gunpla. There are some exceptions though, such as PG Unicorn.
