The Gundam |OT2| Another 5 years of Gunpla, Origins, and GUNDAMUUUU!

Uh..

Wut.

Does this mean tell whole thing is going to get adapted eventually.

Well. It's not so easy. Gundam the Origin is very, very long. The first half is the Gundam TV story up until Jaburo. Then they have a series of three flashback arcs. Char and Sayla, The dawn of war, and Loum. It's easier to adapt the flashbacks as prequels, so they're doing that.

After that it's going to need to be a really long series or nothing at all.

I don't recall the Loum arc being terribly long, though. Wasn't it just 1 volume? SO that would be two episodes based on how they've been formatting it.

Episode 1 was the first half of volume 5, episode 2 was the first half of volume 5,

I think they're on volume 6 right now, right?

Loum was volume 8?

Holy shit-balls this is megaton news for me. Emptying my savings as I type.

Not really unless you get smaller kits and even then it's really expensive shipping.

It's like 35 USD shipping per MG kit. It's fast shipping but still...

If you live outside of Japan, there are still cheaper alternatives.

Oh shit I didn't know you was into gundam

Oh yeah I'm a huge Gundam fan, have been since they aired Gundam Wing here like 15 years ago. Seeing the 1/1 scale RX-78-2 at Diver City is a highlight of my life.

It's more the custom fees being able to be paid up front. Saves me a lot of hassle dealing with parcelforce and their bullshit fees. I'm okay paying a little more for super fast shipping and no stupid fees.

I need to look and see if they start offering international on transformers. HLJ would still be cheaper, but Amazon JP gets some silly and cool exclusive accessories sometimes.

Amazon offers international shipping on most Transformers they have in stock, but not on most Unite Warriors and Masterpiece pre-orders, except for Skids.

The international shipping rules for Amazon JP are weird.

I still consider the Battle of Loum to be part of the Flashback arc since it transitions right from the Char and Sayla part. There's a scene at the very end of this arc that could serve as an end to the whole thing or a transition point to adapt Operation V and the rest of the OYW. I hope they do the whole thing, but until they announce an readaptation of the invasion of Side-7, I'm not saying it's happening.

MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM UNICORN RE:0096 Episode 8 – Laplace, Where it All Began

Last minute
they had a spy on board? and they really called it the mock trojan horse? is that a reference to first gundam

Discussion heavy, liked the part at the beginning with Banagher defending Marida. Glad she has support from someone, as usual the military types seem too hardened to ever think of the captured as normal humans :(

Char is a complete monster in The Origin. He starts the fucking One Year War. Also, cue the heroic music when he leads a fellow to his death. He seems less twisted in MSG, but eventually he gets there by CCA.

He had so many "Ima kill a muthafucka" faces in episode 3, I lost count.

It's amazing, he doesn't give a single fuck.

Finished the Decals on the Nu Gundam at last; pics once they've had time to dry.

Miku Expo finally done here so I can get back to my MG Astray Red Frame Kai. This thing keeps going on hiatus, it's nonsense... only done with the head and feet, RIP

Wait Origins III is out? Oh man I'm too out of the loop

Well, I finished watching Destiny. Man, that got more and more messy, but maybe my expectations were already so low from hearing all the bad stuff about it that I didn't hate that much. Better than AGE at least.

But I will say that I don't quite get the Shinn hate. Like, from the previous discussions, I thought he would do something on par with helping drop a colony or murder an actual sympathetic character, but the most he does is just get madder, be more wrong, and be more easily manipulated. All of which I found entertaining as hell to watch, especially since it was a welcome change from the immense circlejerking that everyone in-show gave Kira and Lacus. Although everything involving him and Stella was pretty stupid though.

On that topic, it was a lot easier to hate Shinn less when the Archangel crew was so much more unlikable. Cagalli in particular. Man, what the fuck happened to Cagalli. And Neo/Mu was such a waste of time.

Anyway, Stargazer OVA is supposed to be pretty good, right?

Shinn is rewritten as the protag of SEED and Destiny in the Super Robot Wars Z series, and it works. Helps that the non-Gundam characters shit on Kira for being an awful person, as they should

Shinji, from Evangelion, gets so pissed off at Kira that he slaps him! Shinji!

After you build it, can you take a few shots with it wearing the Gyan Vulcan parts if you have that?

Ok Here you go.

The shoulders on the new kit use a different connector so those parts aren't plug and play. The rest of it fits just fine. It wouldn't be so hard to modify the shoulders to work though I feel. Will require some surgery and irreversible changes though. Also the colors are different. The light blue shades are different slightly but the big difference between the old and new is the blue/purple for the dark parts. On the old kit and Valuable Pod they are purple. The new kit is blue and I think its the same shade they used on the MG Gyan.

Here you can see different shoulders

Heres a bonus 1/144 scale Gyan family shot:

Now onto the psycho zaku...

He must've gotten tired of Kira's preaching.

As good as these look I still feel funny about buying a non-model kit Gundam. It just feels like cheating to me for some reason.

I kinda felt that way about the Next Edge Wing Zero, but I imagine something with Diecast in it will make a difference given I do collect stuff like chigokin and Fewture Artstrom robots.

Finally caught The Origin Vol. 3.

It was really, really good. Fantastic adaptation of a section of the manga I liked a whole bunch. This is where the Flashback Arc really started to work for me. It adds some interesting points to Char's backstory that color him in a different light and it humanizes the Zabis, particularly Garma, in some key ways that didn't really get in the original series.

The anime did add one significant scene to the manga.

The student who gives Char his visor doesn't know his identity in the original manga. It was just an appreciation gift and a way for the manga to demonstrate how Char's natural charisma brings people together.

Frankly, given how Casval was brought out of Zeon and eventually to the Texas colony is such top secrecy, I find it hard to believe an academy cadet could figure out who he was, even if he knew the original Char and figured out something was up. It also felt like it added unneeded brutality to Char's character. We already got that from him sending his 'friend' to die, it kinda didn't need to happen twice.

Not sure how I feel about it. It's kind of unnecessary filler to pad out the battle section. Overall, it was very good. The Flashback Arc only gets better from here. I cannot wait to see the finale to Char's past and the Battle of Loum animated. It's going to be a great ride.

If anyone is curious as to where we are, the next volume wraps up the Char bits and the episode after that starts the Loum arc. It's only one volume of manga. Presuming they don't really stretch it, it should be 2 episodes max. Meaning, we should hear about the potential for readapting the OYW next year. I would bet we'll hear about it after the first volume, meaning the announcement should hit this time next year assuming they stay on schedule.

He must've gotten tired of Kira's preaching.

Randomly reminded me that Kira and Shinn were the worst characters to play as in DWG series simply because their one attack line was god awful. Kiras: "STOP IT!" and Shinns: WANNAOTHERWARRRR?!~~~" geeze. Always turned the sound off when playing these two.

If they ever get the go ahead for a 5th game in that franchise they need to give characters more than one attack line for the love of god.

I wonder if they'll look anything like this out of the box.

Good to see Gundam Sentinel getting some love after nearly.. what? Thirteen years? Unless you count the little statuettes that have been coming out lately.

No release dates though..

What line do these belong to? Is that the MG/HG EX-S or something else?

Robot Damashii Ka Signature line. Not kits.

Yes, this! I apologize for failing to specify.

I actually am not the biggest fan of the Robot Spirits figures(the QC leaves a bit to be desired), but, as with a lot of the more recent ver. Ka Master Grades, the Ka Signature figures tend to have a little more attention paid to them. And they don't have the hit or miss proportions that a lot of the Robot Spirits figures have.

What the fuck are these and why aren't these in anime form yet?

It's from Gundam Sentinel, an official but not really side story novel released in the 80s that Bandai doesn't own. I'm sure someone else can provide the details of why there are legal headaches when it comes to bringing it to anime form.

Is this more of a legal clusterfuck than Macross?

I don't know if it's more of a clusterfuck.

Basically, Sentinel was a co production between Bandai and Model Graphix, the magazine it was published in. It had a troubled production, but the basic gist of the deal is that Model Graphix owns the rights to the story, characters and suit designs, while Bandai has the rights to make kits and figures based on those designs. If they wanted to do any sort of manga or anime adaptation or continuation, they would have to get Model Graphix approval, and probably share a cut, which is why the series has never been touched outside of the one novel.
