Thinking about grabbing a gunpla for my friend's christmas gift. He wanted to try but never made time... Wonder which I should start him with... I think he was looking at a SD Hi-nu or something a few months ago. Something simple and small for his desk would be great.
Also started watching X. Two episodes in and while I hate Garrod's voice its ok so far. Like the opening and ending as well, but damn, whos idea was it to make the episode preview the entire credits length.

As someone watching it now, the fact that the first two minutes of every episode is the last two minutes of the previous is far more offensive. Especially since they occasionally add a bit more, so its difficult to just skip to the opening.

Finished rewatching 00. It is mostly how I remember it, great first season, very disappointing second season. The first season had good character arcs for just about everyone with some really good scenes. The season 1 finale had emotional weight and was exciting. The second season just really doesn't hold up to the first at all. It isn't even that the second season is horrible, that goes to AGE and Destiny. The main problem with the second season is that it is just dull.
None of the main characters have a character arc in the second season. Everyone had their arcs in the first season so I guess there was no more need for character development. Tieria is now just cool with working with people. Allelujah has come to terms with his past. Lockon is dead. Setsuna is a Gundam. The only exception is Saji. Saji and Louise felt pointless in the first season, but Saji's journey from ignorance was enjoyable to watch. Too bad Louise was awful.
I think Lockon is the worst part about the second season. He never amounts to more than a way to avoid making a new character design. His relationship with Katharon is never meaningfully used and his only really conflict comes from fridging his girlfriend. His introduction was also awful because the first 3 episodes we got to have this conversation like 5 times.
Someone: "Wow, Lockon is alive!"
Lockon: "No, I'm not Lockon. I'm his brother, Lockon."
Someone: "Neat."
I had a thought while watching 00. Why is Marina a character? What does she do? She talks to Setsuna maybe 3 times in the first season and that apparently affects Setsuna somehow. She never really says anything more than "Fighting is not the answer." And she never does anything to affect events or characters, but she is treated as this important person. She spends the entirety of the second season singing with kids.
I'm focusing a little too much on the negatives of 00. The show has a great premise and a great cast of characters. Graham Aker is one of my favorite rival characters in Gundam up until he becomes Mr. Bushido. Also, 00 brings us the best/worst character name in Gundam history with Revive Revival.
Now to watch Awakening of the Trailblazer.

Picked up SD Gundam G Gen Genesis. It's pretty dope. Not sure it's worth the 90 bucks I spent, but I'm liking it alot.

Isn't 00 just a half ass Gundam Wing making Marina a half ass Relena?
I finally got around to finishing Turn A, having binged the 2nd half in the past few days. Overall I loved it. Like G Gundam I enjoyed the vastly different setting. I'm also a big fan of the new mech designs, they look unique compared to the other gundam shows I've watched. I also liked how they try to tie it into the shows which came before it. I suppose the next show I will watch will be Victory.

Successfully built my first kit over the past couple of days. Went with the MG RX-78 -2 3.0 because I really liked the color separation with multiple shades of white/gray, especially since I'm almost certainly not going to paint it. I bled a little, but I started getting better with the nub marks towards the end. Looking at the whole things there's a few pieces I could have done better (the knee armor stands out, looks like I completely missed that nub) and I might go back and touch up when I add panel lining (pens in the mail), stickers (after panel lining), the LED unit, and topcoat when its all done.

Zeta is definitely a GOAT anime.
Good stuff, The RX-78-2 3.0 was my first kit too back in 2014.
Having the GM Sniper II really helps, as you can give it poses and have it in setting that other Mobile Suits can't wear as well.
Well, a good number of the new suits were designed by Syd Mead, famous for his work work on Tron, Blade Runner, and Aliens. It really gave the mobile suits a fresh look and absolutely love the Turn X and the Sumo. While the Turn A is also good it's unfortunate they forced him to change its design a bit to better fit the main Gundam look.
It is definitely Wing-like. I like the premise and characters of 00 more than Wing, but Relena is certainly more realized than Marina. I think 00 was smart to only have 4 Gundam. Because of that we didn't have any character overlap like Heero and Trowa. Both shows suffer from a weak second half.

I feel that 00 overall is a more perfected realization of what the second half of Wing could've been. Mainly when it comes to team maneuvers and planning. The overall tones of the stories are two different things though. With Marina I think she's just there because they needed to check off the Princess trope cause she's there for no reason what so ever. Even Setsuna didn't feel like macking on her. "Imma be a Gunuhdum, can't get inside her panties."
I agree all three of those suits look great. I would like to see a MG for the gold Sumo at some point.

The difference is that 00's second season makes Wing's second half look like Cowboy Bebop in terms of critical quality.
00 S2 is one of the biggest wastes of time in my life.

Ranged weapon accuracy against units in the affected area is reduced by a certain percentage. I haven't been able to tell if that is for both you and the enemy, if it is both it doesn't seem substantial.
Generally if my ships aren't running low on EN I'll go ahead and use it, a big chunk of the required energy gets regenerated anyway.

Not a fan of Gundam 00's second season, but the music is good. That's not Daybreak's Bell though. Best OP. L'arc En Ciel and anime is always an instant classic.

Can't wait for the end of year sales on Gundams... Should be gud. Gonna see if the local place will have mystery boxes that would include them as well since they have a massive wall of them (and a billion Amazing Red Warrior MGs)
Need to finish (start) my Heavy Arms though, got two weeks off, a year and a half of korean shows to catch up on, and a whole lot of gift card to burn.
Also got my first prize out of a UFO catcher yesterday, a Macross Delta figure of Mirage lol... now all I can think about is UFO catchers.

Started my RX-78-02 Origin master grade a few days ago, it's pretty nice so far. I also got Origin volumes 4 and 5 as xmas gifts, and might get a few more volumes since Barnes and Noble currently has that buy 2 get 1 free deal with manga.

I never feel like my matte coats end up looking as good as that. How do you go about it?
I used this as a basis. I tend to do 5 coats instead of 3-4. I think that is the only thing I do different

Yes, I need to finally get around to applying coats to some of the kits I make. I'm slowly uping my game with some decal setter and softener that I have coming in the mail. I suppose that would be my next step.
