The Gundam |OT2| Another 5 years of Gunpla, Origins, and GUNDAMUUUU!

Reading the Origin manga for the first time and, while I like a lot of the changes, can't say I'm too warmed up on the idea that the Guntank and Guncannon are now regular Federation mobile suits and not also a part of Project V.

I actually really like that part. The Guncannon and especially the Guntank don't feel in the same league as the RX-78. The idea that they're developed together doesn't make that much sense. I love the idea of the Guntank as this bridge unit between traditional ground units and MSes and the Guncannon makes a lot of sense as a first gen Federation MS.

Enron got permed btw. Gundamgaf flags at half mast today.

Which is the thing where Sayla give Amuro a pubic hair necklace again?

Is this like proper canon or something or an alternate universe? How the hell did he get banned?

No, definitely not proper canon. It's an alternate take on the One Year War story, sort of like how the Origin is. Origin is much closer to the source material than the novel is.

Personally, I thought the novel pretty decent. Some pretty good moments in there. I especially like how indepth it went into what Newtypes are, and was sort of a philosophical take on the issue.

SOme things would later be implimented into canon, like the Zabis having an older brother named Sasro who was assassinated in the wake of Deikun's death, and what not. But overall, the plot takes some pretty different turns. Plus there are only like 3 MSes in the entire novel (The Gundam, the GM(or the Guncannon, can't remember which), Zakus and Rick Doms). The entire story takes place in space. It's sort of like the first 10 episodes and the last ten episodes, but with VERY different events taking place.

For example:
Lalah dies in the first third of the story.
Char commands a full fledged Newtype battalion. Chalia Bull is a ballar.
Sayla refuses to give Amuro her pubic hair. Also, they have sex.
Kusko Al exists as a sort of Prototype to Four Murasame.
Kai becomes White Bases' Ace Pilot

But, it does have a beam sword! Unless you wanted a giant one like Epyon.

It has Twin Beam Swords, epic.

Gundam Reconguista Episode 14

May J OP was a nice song, Im quite sure I heard her in another anime before. She ought to stay singing these instead of going with Flo Rida.

Plot is starting to be the series weakness, its like they traded it in place of comedy which is nice at times but still not really what I want in Gundam.I like dark serious mecha with huge world changing implications (M3) or galactic massive warfare where our heroes are the only saviours . This well in no way do Bell, Klim, Captain Mask give me that impression. Though I do enjoy them all, laughing geniuses moments are memorable (Klim & Mask).

How did Raraiya speak normally all of a sudden?

How did Raraiya speak normally all of a sudden?

She remembered that she wasn't a pokemon.
Her amnesia went away and her mental capacity was restored pretty much at the same time in a "please don't pay attention to it" fashion. She does get to share a really cool suit later, so that's something.

If you're expecting a war drama, you're not really going to get it from the rest of G-Reco. Even when the antagonists (
Gundam fanboys
) show up, it still keeps a reasonably light-hearted tone.

If you want to stick around, do it for the well-done fights and the best character:
Steer
.

Did everyone like the first episode of Iron-Blood Orphans? The character designs remind me of something out of Gainax and doesn't feel Gundam, however I did like it. I hope it stays bleak or maybe goes even darker.

A bit exposition heavy for my liking. Unpopular opinion, but I actually liked G-Reco's way of just leaving most explanations up to context and "figure it out yourself" instead of the way IBO handled it.

Everything else was really good though.

That bromance between Tieria and Lockon and Setsuna and Saiji Crossroad kun can't be beat.

To be fair though there's a decent amount of sexual chemistry between Athrun and Kira and Rey and our second (third?) favorite target of hate in this thread.

You have a point. Now I'm starting to think that Lacus is nothing than a beard for Kira to throw everybody off regarding Athrun and Kira's secret romance. Don't forget about Guin and Loran, Guin would not stop hitting on Loran.

The first episode was good and I love the new Gundam's design. I hope we get awesome battle scenes.

I actually found both Turn A Gundam DVD sets at MovieStop of all places. 1 copy of part I and about 5 copies of part II. Not used, either. They were new.

Ironically they were 50 cents cheaper than the prices at Rightstuf.

I didn't have money so I sacrificed my Game of Thrones blu ray sets for store credit.

My Gundam dvd/blu ray collection is serious business yo.

Checked my local hobby stores to see what gunpla they had in stock. Was hoping to find a HG Ez8 or GM or something to finally start building. They didn't have much stock sadly, had the MG Titanium Nu Gundam (which looks so good), the MG Sazabi, and MG Shinanju (the grey colored version). Though I want all of these, it probably wouldn't be smart to try and build them first thing.

Bell's particle effects weapon in this one was really fantastic, it gave me the good feelings of World Trigger particle effects and I loved how he kept blasting things. Really great space battle
even if few casualities, or none for most. And Rararaiya piloting? How fast to go from amnesiac to prodigy

Currently watching Gundam Builder Fighters season 1 again and it's just as good as I remember :)
I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected. The last episode with the fair and all those cameos was great. I'm not really big on the simplified Kampfer, or most of the MS actually, but since I like Gunpla, it was a lot of fun anyway.

I just finished Victory Gundam, which marks the end of my UC journey (until Origin is complete). Victory Gundam is one of my least favorite in the UC timeline, holy crap. It was dark for darkness sake, ham-fisted, clumsy, contrived, and all sorts of other negative adjectives. I might rank it lower than F91 if only because F91 was only an hour or so of suffering. As far as I'm concerned, UC ended with Unicorn, and someone just fell asleep at the wheel when they made 0083.

While I wait for Iron Blooded Orphans to make progress, I decided to finish up Reconguista in G. I had given up on it at episode 10, and now I'm at like episode 18. It's terrible, and I swear it was written by a child while they played with their Gundam toys. That said, it has a high ratio of cool to lame MS, and it makes me sad that there's no Ricksnow Gunpla (yet?).

Iron Blooded Orphans is interesting so far. It's too early to judge, but I have very little to complain about at this point. The only big issue I have now is that one dude's hair. I hope it gets burned off in an explosion, and soon.

Toei animation comparison made with G Reco. lol

Finally got to the obligatory mobile suit change in Victory. Mixed feeling about the V2. Improvement over the bland design of the Victory, but it seems more permanent and I'll miss all the "shoot body parts at the enemy" tactics. I also normally hate wings on mobile suits, but since these wings are made of beam energy, not sure how to feel anymore.

I hate wings too. That said, I do love me some v and v2. I like simple designs, which os why I like grunt suits. And the v2 just looks cool to me.

Thought I'll get back into building the Unicorn and was like 'yeah I'll put aside a couple of hours and maybe get the feet and something else done.'

Yeah, three hours later.

PG Unicorn I assume? I love that kit so much. Up there with the MG Sazabi and Nu ver Ka as the most fun I've had building a kit. LED parts not withstanding. Installing the LEDs was very frustrating and terrifying. It looks amazing when done, but it's not fun.

Yup. This kit takes so much time that I'm pretty happy I didn't get the LED kit. Well I also thought that the price was super stupid.
