I'm 22.
I prefer Zeta, but I haven't seen ZZ in a while and when I originally watched it I really barely paid attention. If I watch it now I might change my mind.
I should clarify, I like grimdark. A lot, actually. Cynical entertainment works fine for me. The problem I was having with Zeta (if I remember correctly) was that Kamille was so wildly up-and-down and he seemed like he was facing fifty shades of the same internal strife through all the episodes we watched. He was just too whiny-defiant for us, especially Cooper, which made things difficult during the slower episodes when he'd dominate the screens with his latest angry marches away from the proverbial camera.
So maybe my thing is that dark stories are good but downward-spiral angry leads are not. Which might beg the question, "why do I love Gundam so much?" Well, I guess for every protagonist I'm not crazy about there's another protagonist I quite enjoy, and also, there's so much else to love with this franchise, anyway. (For a Zeta example, I remember thinking Quattro was great from what we saw together, even if I didn't have all the context necessary to fully enjoy him.)
What I love about Gundam and from what I've seen from this community is that each series has something going for it. I can't think of a single series maybe besides Destiny that has been generally considered out right terrible. We have our Victory supporters, ZZ supporters, and those who dislike 0079 and Zeta.

I'm more of a UC fan in general, and I prefer the early UC stuff. AU's fine, although I don't really care for the SEED series.
I didn't hate G-Reco, so that's something.

Kamille had his reasons and he did eventually stop being angry towards the end. I honestly think he just got tired of watching people he cared about getting iced all the god damn time. He did grow up in a rather dysfunctional house, probably even worse than Amuro cause as insular as Amuro was I think he had more friends or at least a better social network. The whole town seemed to know him from what I remember. Kamille was just that weird genius kid with only one friend, Fa. There's also I think a fan theory that Kamille was autistic so him not being completely right does make some sense. He had fits of uncontrolled passion about everything and didn't exactly know how to express himself in a manner that wouldn't get someone to smack the dude. Only child, I don't really think his parents raised him that much since his dad was a cheating asshole and his mother didn't do much to keep that from happening which probably just got worse when they did actually die. Pretty much I don't think Kamille really acted his age, he probably just raised himself and just forced himself to internalize everything. The main thing that stuck with me at the end of Zeta was Kamilles behavior. He was really childlike and innocent in a way he was never before on the show. I guess when he had his brain melted, for that fleeting moment he felt like he could be innocent again.
Quattro was just a man running from his destiny, that's all I'm saying on that point. Zeta has my favorite UC waifu's. That Fa, Emma, Rosamia and Four combo, just can't be beat to me.
I like all the ones I've seen to see them more than once for the most part, all of them have something going for them. I can't argue for Destiny, but I still watch it for entertainment in a pinch.
Honestly I think you'll find more defenders of Destiny then you will Hitler and AGE.
Still we do have a very wide range of fans here which I agree is great.

Your welcome. I always think Kamille was on the razors edge of peoples tolerance levels. You either liked him and were able to read into him or you just took him for face value and just always thought of him as whiny, which he wasn't...Granted Wong had a to commit a felony assault level beat down on him to get him to act right though, but I think people really did see Kamille's potential and wanted to get him to realize it. Kamille's fucking dangerous. Once he settled down and was like "i'm done fucking around" shit got done. I mainly think Kamille really didn't want to add to the death toll of that series. He'll pull the trigger yes, but I don't think he was a stone cold murderer or anything or even a pacifist. He did seem to want to punish the evil doers though, which I think got flipped on its ear with Reccoa, Reccoa is a body he did not want to drop at all, since he really did care for her. Shit, dude didn't even want to kill Rosamia or Four, but at that point he knew if he didn't Kill Rosamia he would've been killed by her. He even anguished at that one. Shit the dude even toyed with Jerid for most of the damn show when he could've killed him earlier though those fights were close too. I guess I'm just saying that Kamille never fully closed off his emotions during Zeta Gundam, he just learned to focus them better. It's easy to see Kamille's growth when you witness his relationships with Emma, Shinta and Qum, Four also helps. He goes from crushing on Emma a little bit to seeing her as his big sis and Shinta and Qum are like his little siblings. Fa's his wifey though, he knows it.
He's not autistic. This is going into /m/ territory. He is a genius though which might make him socially awkward. Also, think about how you would act if you were the most sensitive Newtype of the time and could literally feel people die. You should see the ending in the Zeta movies where Tomino actually lets him not go crazy. It's a stupid ending though.
This is such a bullshit ending and fucks with all other Canon.
Seriously kiss another thing that makes me realize I got lucky to like ZZ and why I hate 90 percent of the mans work given he retconed the single best part of Zeta.

I don't like that ending. Strips away the weight of the series. Him being autistic was something I know I read on TV Tropes though, I did say it was a fan theory. Kamille was definitely socially awkward though. Only person that could even deal with him was Fa and well there "discussions" were verbal sparring events at times. Makes you wonder what Fa's deal was at times.

I've gone my whole life without visiting 4chan, and I'll probably keep that going. I just hear so many horror stories.
There are many issues with 4chan but like any place it has some great posters and some really great content, but you have to sift through a lot of garbage.

I can not wait to see Metal Build Wing EW (so much potential for amazing redesign) and Shining Gundam.
Ugh I'm starting to doubt though they will leave before 2020 though.

it's a tip in the past from collectors to keep up an expensive hobby, basically always by in 3x w/ limited items, if have the money funds at the time, keep one and sit on two for a year and trade for things you want and keep doing this practice and eventually your collection grows with minimal money.
I collect mainly Macross, and it's really really gets expensive, bandai and arcadia usually only prints a limited number of macross items so they always go up in value, i sold off a bunch of macross doubles for these 3x metal build didn't use any addition funds.
bc limited number of space, it's always constant buy and trade sell to move things in and out.
here's my collection of Macross stuff a few month ago but i sold a lot off:
the only items that i don't get a return is gunpla, so if i save enough extra, i use the funds just for fun for building

/m/ and /a/ (the anime board) range from fine to decent. You can find some pretty interesting stuff on /m/. Alot of the Frozen Teardrop info I've posted here came from threads there. Think someone had another thread once where the guy was translating random model kit manuals then started doing requests. All kinds of actually interesting stuff can pop up every so often.
Just ignore the mob mentality about some things.
Seriously. I'd love an SDF-1 kit that's fully transformable but those prices, gah.

the prices are insane, if i didn't catch at retail forget about it.
here's some shots of the yamato 1/3000 version
those 5 in the middle is probably fetch 1800-2k currently,
-the max and miria vf-1j (red and blue) as a pair are about 1k
sdf-1 is 500-700,
-virgin road is 350-400
-low visibility vf-1s is about 350-400
i got those for about 100-120 bucks each except the sdf-1 which was more.
it's an expensive hobby but if managed right it pretty much pays for itself.
you should definately get into Macross, it's not like gunpla but mostly all toys so it's about display and collecting:Ahh i see.

lol, you have the same exact opinion as my friend on Macross World (there's a gundam figure thread) he absolutely hates strike freedom but out of SEED his fav is freedom.
MB Freedom was one figure everyone complained about so it never was in demand, strike freedom, from an engineering standpoint, is much improved so it's pretty sought after.
i'm not a huge freedom guy, i'm more into Justice and waiting for a MB if bandai would ever do one.
x105 i like a bit more, i have MB red frame on pre order and looking forward to that.

Because the relationship between Athrun and Kira is much better and the voice animators do a better job on selling it to me. Plus SEED's music is infinitely more enjoyable the 0083.

The vast majority of Gundam fans strongly disagree with my taste in Gundam aside from Unicorn love. That said that is okay, I also hate Star Wars and Lord of the Rings and think the best little kids show of all time is Rainbow Bright, so I'm use to my options being wtf?!!!! Lol

That was a hell of an arc. Ramba Ral was great. Now he's dead. Rest in peace in pieces, Ramba Ral. I loved the Artesia scene; I loved how he got so caught off-guard and that's partly what sealed his fate. Sayla!Surprise is a real thing and it's dangerous and middle-aged men ought to fear it. Hail Sayla!Surprise, the Federation's true secret weapon.
Wandering Amuro didn't bug me as much as I thought it would. He had a good story here, taking down M'Quve's (ultimately meaningless) mine. I don't remember this happening when I watched the movie trilogy a few years ago. I'm really enjoying seeing all this content I'd never before experienced and I think it's a damn shame this was missing from Movie 2, if I'm remembering correctly. It adds more to Amuro and it adds more to both Kycilia and M'Quve.
M'Quve's voice actor is incredible, though. And by incredible I mean utterly wtf.
When White Base was boarded, Bright shouted at the crew to avoid penetration. I think that's wise. I think Bright is a wise man who knows what's up.

Weirdly as time goes on I love Endless Waltz not for the movie but now because of Glory it's made Wing so much better and Wing Ver Ka is such an amazing mobile suit.
Plus Heero just not fighting with Wing Zero makes it dull and really only the reveal is any good to me, but I do love that reveal such a great pose.
I thought they meant that as a negative 10 out of 10.
