Would I be right in saying might & magic clash of heroes is coming this week? I've been waiting sooo long for this game to come to ios, I do hope the MP is asynchronous.

I don't even see how it's a question, really. The mini is a smaller iPad 2, end of story. The 4 not only has the retina screen but is also a full proper-generation more powerful (because the 3 was a fudge that was probably less powerful than the 2 when you consider the screen).

I'm pretty biased though, I really can't see any reason in the mini at all. My phone is my mini iPad :p

And welcome back Dash! Check the OPs for the previous few threads for some good new games. Next thread's on you, yeah? :D

My biggest problems with the mini is the lack of retina, lack of an official Apple Smart Case (LOVE my Smart Case), and that it still has the A5. Fix those or at least 2/3 of those and I'd grab one.

Might & Magic: Duel of Champions

For a brief, but very intense moment, I thought you meant M&M:Clash of Heroes was already out before the set date (24 Jan).

I know many previews are critical about the actual port but I'm so hyped I'll buy as soon as it's avaible (I already own the game on 360 but loading screens are unbearable and I can't play/have fun in the couch in front of the TV for long anymore).

iPad only.[/QUOTE]

.....Whats the catch? It cant be free and good at the same time. It isnt like its PC brethren right?

wb dash!
that being said...
none of my friend bought an ipad mini so i couldn't check, luckily for me (not so much for you at this point...) you bought it and warned me that it sucks with gaming atm, so guess i'll pass :p i was a bit conflicted about buying that (i already have iphone 4s, 5, ipad2, ipad3, ipod nano) since i have nothing in the ios family with that form factor :X

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
Just a FYI, if you write an iTunes Store link without the country prefix it'll redirect whoever clicks on it to their Store region for the app (if available).

Like so: https://itunes.apple.com/app/might-magic-duel-of-champions/id514324593
But his links open in the browser so I can decide before having to open iTunes. Although he doesn't need to link to every country it's on, when you click to view in iTunes it does it automatically if the game's available in your region's store anyway.

Puzzle Quest 2 is on sale for $1.99 until tomorrow.
I only played the first on Xbox360. How is PQ2 fare on iOS?

I jumped on it since I never played the first one. It is a very solid game. The artwork is great with tons of polish.

My only complaint would be that the 'overworld' is a bit cumbersome (and unnecessary?) and inventory management is a bit cramped. Probably even worse if you played it on a phone.

I'm only 4 hours in and am playing on an Ipad.

If only i had a controller my iPad.

A lot of games i am missing out because of the lack of a good control, touch control is pure shit for games like this IMO.

Yeah, I actually have not much problems with touch screen-only games but I can't really imagine playing Contra like that, unless Konami has really, REALLY put a lot of time into getting the controls part right. I think I may wait for a review or two before buying.

My issue with stuff like that (on iPad) is when they don't allow you to move the sticks around, so you end up holding it by the bottom which is crap.

If you have heroes & castles and wanna play coop add me on GC (nick: Pray For Death). I wanna level up in coop before I go back to single player. Stage 19 is kicking my ass.

Not feeling momonga after playing "real" pinball (arcade) all day. Tried some of zens tables as well, but they felt somewhat off compared to the real thing (excalibur, epic quest and sorcerers(?))

It's a bit unfair to compare a real pinball machine to a video version, but I'm not really feeling Momonga either. It's OK. The idea of a pinball adventure sounds great, but the 'ball' feels sluggish and stops too often. Plus the levels, while graphically they look amazing, are kind of boring. The game's quite short, and I don't really feel like playing for the achievements.

It's great. Ascension is the other big deck builder on the App Store, but it's basically the exact same game without the boss cards or humor.

Only a total newb would call Ascension 'the exact same game' as Penny Arcade:) Both are similar in they are deck builders, but quite different otherwise.

Hey guys/gals,

A year ago or so, a few friends and I began developing our first app for iOS on the side. It was mainly for fun and to learn about app development in general. On an individual level, members of our development team have worked on franchises like The Sims, Dead Space, and Phantasy Star.

The game is called Germ Smash and it was just posted onto the App Store a couple of days ago. It's designed to be simple and accessible: Get the highest score that you can by tapping on germs to destroy them and avoid killing the "Friendly" germ (it should represent a white blood cell =P). You get power-ups to help you out and there is also a multiplier combo system.

As a long(ish)-time gaffer, I know it would be awesome to get any feedback you guys may have if any of you decide to check it out.

Might & Magic: Duel of Champions

I want to try this. Must be some weird targeted development by "prereleasing" it outside the US, aren't they saying it's a beta right now? Or there's some transactional or IP reason for doing it.

I have a mini and i've compared it to my parents iPad with retina display and I really can't tell a difference.

Really? I definitely noticed at the Apple Store. The iPad Retina has 264 PPI and the mini has 163. That's a huge jump in pixel density.
