The Last Guardian E3 demo impressions

You are developing a reputation for derailing threads by dropping uninformed shitposts like this one. What you posted isn't even close to recapping the comments from the OP, and on top of that its dripping with snark. Don't even comment if this is the quality of your posts.

You are mistaking me for someone else, sir.

No footage of this anywhere?

This was a closed-room demo. Sony seems to be taking that route for a good chunk of their games this year.

It's crazy that they're still having performance issues, but I can hope that Japan Studio helps iron those out by the time it releases.

If Sony doesn't market this game, I'm going to be so pissed.
The cuteness sells itself, let alone Zelda won't be out until next year, so little boy on an adventure is an open field still.

Seems like good stuff, so I'm afraid that they'll do that again.

Well, I can say with confidence that the Review Thread will certainly be interesting to say the least.

That preview was very positive though, aside from some technical stuff (which has never mattered for this series).

It sure as shit mattered for SotC on the PS2. That game didn't get a pass then for how awful the framerate could get, and neither should this game if the issues persist into the final product.

I love the ideas but all the performance I've seen in trailers is really janky , and knowing there past games , they have all had bad performance .

Also I was hoping with the move to ps4 the gfx would have been improved somewhat , this game was never going to be possibly on the PS3 based on what they have shown so far.

The press will still fawn over it and excuse all the technical issues like they did with fallout 4 etc but it's going to be something that will really put me off .

So hopefully they can polish it over the next few months but doubtful given they have had 7 years .

I'm not trying to play the devil's advocate here, but I don't think that TLG works well as a showfloor demo. It's more an intimate experience.

It did get a pass

The Fallout games are technical messes in a lot of cases and that's outside of graphical glitches. I don't know how many times I got stuck in a building or my game crashed or my save got corrupted. I like the games for what they are, but I don't think we have to worry about TLG being anywhere near as bad as the last few iterations in that series.

I think this game will be special for those who loved Ico and Sotc.
I hope they can fix the camera and whatever issue is present.
Previews are really positive where they should be: the soul of the game. And it was just the first 45 minutes, not exactly enough time to create bonds with the player.

Ueda has shown from Ico and SotC that he can absolutely nail the tone of a game. Both of those games felt so mysterious and lonely, and SotC has even darker undertones that the Colossi were these wild beasts that you didn't understand.

If Last Guardian can pull off companionship in the way that reviewers are describing, this game has the potential to reach those heights. I think it's extremely difficult to create a real bond with a companion in a game, and the fact that Trico seems to embody characteristics of a dog will bring the attachment factor up a lot. Everybody loves dogs.

Really excited for this game.

I dont see how its crazy ,the game is not done yet if it where it would be release now.

It's just me or the game still look like that was made for PS3?

It was never "made" for the PS3, it didn't have the horsepower to pull the game off and was shelved for years before the PS4 was an option and they restarted development with Ueda working on the game design and Studio Japan doing the technical side of things.

I am really worried about this one. Its kinda easy to see why Ueda went indie if the profits from his games are so small no corporation will really consider then. Its also strange though that we haven't any of the Ueda clones like Rime or that spin off company making similarly bleak games. Hopefully he can finish the last gaurdian then work on an indie concept with gen design.

If they nail the story and gameplay, then I couldn't care less for the technical stuff. I'll be too engrossed in the game to care about that :p

The op is literally filled with positive impressions (besides some technical stuff) and we still get people that completely ignored it.

Well okay, it'll still give people "the feels" or whatever, but it doesn't sound like they've addressed the shitty things about their previous games at all. Visuals seem outdated too. Plenty of reason for concern. At the very least, this game seems unlikely to win new converts.

If he isn't totally burnt out and destroyed after releasing TLG and if the game is well received and does decent sales for what is basically an Art House movie of the game world, then I could see him sticking around with Sony. I can't see MS funding a game of his though I could see Nintendo being a good choice.

What are these "shitty things"?

All I could feel when playing that was the magic and joy of video games. I sure as hell wasn't counting frames.

Ueda games are niche and not for everyone and that is ok. Everyone does not have to "get" his games. But I am tired of some of this people complaining that it's not for them. Just move on to something you care about.

Planning to do exactly that; it's just disappointing that the technical issues and jankiness that turned me off from Ico and SOTC are still present in this game, and without even the excuse that they're pushing the hardware this time.

Worried about controls and camera. SORC is my gane of all time but that also suffered with controls and performance at launch so I had hoped things would improve a bit this time.

Everything outside of the technical and mechanical sounds awesome though

A solid framerate would be nice, but to me those are minor issues. People are gonna bitch about it to no end, I'm sure, but they'll completely miss the point of this game.

And it took me the PS3 release to actually appreciate the game for all it did since I didn't have to endure the awful framerate that impacted already tricky controls.

Games shouldn't be excused from failing to achieve baseline expectations of performance for any reason at all.

As long as it doesnt feel like its constantly getting in the way and pulling you out of the experience then these issues will be fine for me

All I see in those previews when reading is

Just make sure its polished enough Ueda!!!

The previews are overwhelmingly gushing about the game except for some technical hitches. What are you talking about?
yea jumping to conclusions man...All the previews are saying they like it, here's the technical issues though. Wth is this 6/10 stuff coming from?

Tales from my ass indeed

If I was Sony, I would get extra guys in there to help over the new few months to make it perfect for launch.

Although, Cerny is probably helping them it
