The Last of Us Part II announced

Glad Ellie looks more like Ashley Johnson now.

I kind of expect Joel to die in the prologue of the game, kind of like his daughter.

Well, it could be related to the fact that she is still infected. We know she's "immune" but the cordyceps are still in her brain and maybe the infection is just slowed. A game where Ellie slowly loses it due to the fungus slowly taking her mind would be a crazy way to go. Probably not the direction they will go it, but it's a thought. No vaccine, just a delay to the inevitable. That would cover the hallucination.
That I could get down with. My main concern was having another high profile piece of media go down some kind of "crazy mental health" route, particularly using schizophrenia. But some kind of story where she loses it slowly to infection could be pretty neat.
How is it even possible to miss it?
Because it was tiny on my screen? I'm not sure what your problem is.

Not sure why this need to be. The game had the perfect bookend.

I don't think they mean a supernatural ghost just that Ellie is possibly hallucinating.

Maybe if this near the end because i don't see Joel not being a big part of this game.
The whole first game is base of the 2 of them so watch them grow as characters is going to be interesting .

I dont buy the ghost Joel. He sounds and looks old. I'd buy it if he was still younger looking. My guess is they lived in that town, she finally had what she considered family. Its gone now. She wants revenge. They came there looking for her. Lots of guilt and conflict with Joel will happen IMO. But he aint dead.

I think Joel is a hallucination. When Ellie sings "Surely goodness and mercy follow me" Joel walks into frame. He doesn't look as old as he should be in fact it actually looks like Joel from the Winter section of the Last of Us. She's remembering him just as he was during a horrible point in her life. There's a machete in the room next to Ellie, perhaps this is what triggered her to start hallucinating about Joel.

One of the original ideas for this game was that Ellie would be able to control the infected, take into account that that's something they considered and prototyped.

Jesus Christ. Really? Do you have a source for that?

I know plot isn't exacly The Last of Us' strongest point, but why would they even consider this?

Everyone seems so sure that the dead people in the house were there to kill Ellie and Joel, however I seem to think its more likely that they were friends/associates of theirs that they were living with who were gunned down by the fireflies (hellbent on hunting them both down).

Ellie just managed to finish off who ever perpetrated the killings and was hurt in the process. Joel was on an errand and came back to the carnage and decided to scope the perimeter to make sure no one else was around. After all was clear he came back inside to check on Ellie.

Ellie is seriously pissed/hurt that her friends were killed (again) and she's had enough. She wants revenge...

Just my two cents worth anyway! Super excited to see what ND can come up with

It's so weird to me how a game set up in the apocalypse seems entirely disinterested in anything resembling the survivors trying to survive. Giant cross country trips and revenge missions are somehow realistic goals in their minds.

Also you're being intentionally dense if you're asking why this game exists. You know exactly why.

I didn't get that at all from the story.

This was the only great thing about PSX. Not a fan of announcing things early on but TLoU is one of my favorite games ever so why not. Not feeling Ellie's design tho, she looks too.. different.

Holy shit. Misse the keynote because I planned a cinema visit with my wife, just saw Uncharted when I got in the theatre and put my internet off, and I was very happy.

And then I came home to this. Incredible. I can't wait. TLOU is still one of my GOAT game experiences, and I am anxious to know where these characters go.

Don't know if it's been discussed before but could Ellie's trembling hand be caused by the bite, like some sort of late after effect?

There's no way I won't play this as soon as it's available, and I'm sure they'll do something interesting, but they're story had such a great conclusion that I would have preferred they focus on new characters.
